Hi Natalie Good to see you back. We missed you. I was one of the silent majority who watched your inspiring videos and managed to lose my excess weight through using the principles of the starch solution and I am in maintenence mode now and having to learn what the paramaters of that entail. We can find hundreds of thousands of recipes all over the internet for how to prepare and cook wholesome whole food plant based food however what no-one talks about is that the ability to adhere to a fully plant based, no oil diet is about 10% physical and 90% mental. The mental part is where many of us, especially those of us who have eating addictions, fall short and if you are an emotional eater, as soon as you are challenged by an incredibly difficult situation or stressful situation where you feel both helpless and vulnerable, there is precious little out there to fortify you and it is incredibly easy to just fall back into our old eating habits because they work. They squash down the pain and they work fast. I am so sorry to hear about your mother and her terrible journey and yours, alongside her. To be part of that situation would be incredibly stressful and to have to deal with all of that aftermath AND not resort to the well trodden path of disordered eating for comfort would take a saint. I think the weight loss journey is only a small part of the equation. The next phase, where you have to keep that weight off and learn how to eat wfpbno for the rest of your life and replace the previously disordered ways that we viewed and used food as a substitute for facing our emotional selves is far bigger and more difficult. That's why so many people go back to disordered eating. It is so much easier to live in that comforting space. I look forward to staying the distance with your channel and following you along with your journey. Thank you so much for your honesty and you candour. I think you will find that most of us will come back because we enjoy your content, recipes or not.
Hello Steve, well thank you for taking the time to comment today! You've hit the nail on the head really - I could not agree more - the emotional side of food and ...well living life is where things are hard! I was given 'treats' like chocolates and cookies when I was a good kid, and when I was poorly - the emotional ties to food are programmed into us right from small! I really appreciate your comment, and yours along with the others here have made me feel quite confident in posting more videos about this very topic.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's illness. I'm sure you were a blessing to her as you walked with her through that journey. I too walked that journey with my mom and understand your grief and weight gain. I was a fairly new viewer last year and was pleased to see you in my feed again.
Natalie, I'm so glad to see you back here, and I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm happy to stay subscribed and go through this reset with you. I'm in a very similar position with the weight gain over the past year. Also - so funny that I just saw your book on Amazon this morning and thought "I hope she comes back to UA-cam someday." !!! Welcome back.
Good to hear your voice, don't beat yourself up. You have been through a very emotional time, everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. Allow yourself some grace , take one day at a time. ❤🙏🏼 We are here for you!
UA-cam fed me your latest video based on my other subscriptions. I am very glad it did, and I immediately subscribed to your channel. I lost my mother many years ago, but your description of your mother's final year and how it impacted you was so honest and rung true to me. I am so sorry she was so sick with cancer, and it lead to her death. When I went though this myself as a caregiver and support person, it felt a bit like being a labor coach in reverse. At the end, no one hands you a baby, but instead takes away your precious loved one. I am glad you are back, and I now have some of your older videos to enjoy now that I found you. I look forward to you keeping it real, and describing your path ahead even when the way seems uncertain or you have strayed. We all do, and it helps to know that others live this lifestyle imperfectly, and yet are the better for it.
This video was on my feed today. I’m very interested in your journey. I’ve been vegan for almost 4 years now and I’ve never lost the weight I need to so I need to ditch all the unhealthy vegan food too. Let’s do this!
Right, that’s what keeps me on the whole food plant-based track, and my family. My mother was incredibly unhealthy and it took her from us way too soon. I had a health scare in the last year with two blockages in my heart. That was enough for me to know that I need to do everything I can not only for myself, but for my husband and my girls.
Welcome back Natalie! I have been searching for you and was thrilled that you popped up on my feed today. I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your mum and know firsthand how grief triggers the emotional eating. I lost my dad a year and a half ago along with 2 other family members in the meantime and totally gave up. I have begun to get control and your post today has inspired me to get back to it and not give up. Thank you for sharing your loss and thank you for coming back! We can do this ❤
I am so sorry to hear that Sonia ~ so much heartache..... I am overwhelmed by how many people resonate with me, I had no idea. I am completely inspired to create more videos and hopefully help where I can 💚 Stick with it, its going to be worth it
SO HAPPY you are back! Big hugs to you my dear sweet Natalie. 🙏🏻❤️At 73(almost) I understand the depth of grief. Looking forward to seeing you! You do you- whatever you need to do for you and your goals. 🤗
My sincere sympathies & condolences. I'm sorry to say I know a lot of what you've been going through. Glad you're back & praying for your recovery & blessings in your life❤ I look forward to your videos again❣️
Hi Natalie….welcome back! So sorry to hear about your mum. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I also lost my mother to an awful battle with cancer. It’s a heart wrenching journey and the grief can paralyze you. Thank you for having the courage to post this video, you’ve been missed. Looking forward to the next one. 🤗
Yahhh! So happy you’re back, Natalie! I’ve missed seeing your channel but it sounds like you’ve been through a very difficult time. Glad you’ve found your way back so we can all help each other.
Hello, welcome back! I love your channel and your honest, open approach to sharing healthy eating ideas and information. You're and inspiration... Keep up the good work :D
Yes. I got your notification in my feed. Glad you're back, but condolences regarding your mom. I was only 15 when I lost mine, and I'm 68. It was one of the most devastating losses in my life. Looking forward to what you do with your channel. And we told you we'd still be here.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had not followed your channel for long before you took time away, but I instantly loved your approach to healthy vegan eating. I even bought your cookbook just to support you. And I will continue to support your channel in whatever capacity you choose to continue. I hope you give yourself grace and know you are worthy. ❤
Hi Natalie . Sorry to hear about ur mom.. it hard to get through.. hey but I’m with you happy to follow along and get back on track . So looking forward to some awesome recipes … Thank you for sharing some amazing ideas .. We all humans end of the day and deal with life in our own way… I’m am.. Ready for starch solution recipes … You go girl … 👍
So glad to see you back Natalie and my heartfelt condolences on your loss. I'm really interested to follow you on your journey. Thank you for your honesty and integrity.
I’m so very sorry about your mom, I hope your feeling better, glad to see you back. I just found your book on Amazon, and it’s on it’s way to me. Thank you for making a paper backed book. Wishing you health and happiness for you and your family. May God Bless You🙏Always
So sorry to hear of you losing your mum. I am a new subscriber after seeing one of your videos last week and had no idea of your time away. I look forward to whatever you plan to share here in the future as you are able.💐
So lovely to see you back 😢sorry for yr loss xx I’m like u want to do it for health xx Yes came back on my list as I watched you before , and bought yr book x take care one day at a time ….
Glad to see you again! I’ve missed you. Sorry you’ve been through such a horrible time, I’m much older than you, so I’ve lost both my parents and it’s so awful. I usually lose weight during times of grief, I call it the trauma diet. I just don’t get hungry, and that’s not really great either. I’m curious to see what you will do now, I’ll be watching,
Hi Natalie! So good to see you back in here. I've looked for you several times to see if you were posting and wondered if you were ok. I'm sorry to here about your mums passing. I'm glad though that you chose to be present for her. No matter how hard, you/I/ no one will never regret it. I myself have put on probably 10 lbs? since last September. My mother moved in with me and is now just 40 minutes away. Stress levels are crazy, as she lives for chaos. As a result I cocoon and eat! The sweets came in, I walked less, and just ate more period. Yesterday, I picked up a DVD called [ Stronger Seniors - Stretch and Strength ]. I'm 62 and I've been planning for 2 yrs now on starting a weight lifting regime to help me keep good bones. So as I sit here right now with this ( little) bag of chocolate chips........😂😂😂😂 I commit to you and the rest of us to get to my healthy weight and follow my intended weight lifting and stretching program. Really looking forward to seeing what you do with your channel. Whatever it is, just be you and we will absolutely love you! Greetings from Michigan, USA 🙋😊✌
'hheeeyyyyyy' ~ I remember your lovely comments with fond memories - I'm so happy I haven't 'lost' you 💚 Well - I am right there with you, I have gained and gained, kept telling myself to 'sort it out' AND to start training for bone density, and it simply has not happened. I start TODAY, and I will be accountable on this channel ~ and you can come along with me! The chaos sounds hard to handle, I guess we all have something going on! Sorry to hear that.... THANK YOU always for being here 💚 Let's do this!
As a subscriber, your video did pop up for me as a recommended video. It’s so nice to see you back. I lost my mom 12 years ago, the anniversary of her passing is tomorrow. I also had a recent weight gain and now working on more plain and simple WFPB low fat meals.
Hi Natalie. Am a new subscriber from a a few months ago and went through many of your videos. Am glad to see you’re back and on the mend. I lost my dear mum suddenly 3 years ago now and it isnt easy at all. I lost my enthusiasm for experimenting and cooking and put on some pounds, for a while but been on the mend this past year slowly. I wanted to share what helped me, perhaps it will help you. I came across a Barbara O’Neill and watched a few of her seminars ( she is on you tube) and I found she explains so well the why. I know we all know we need to eat healthy to be healthy, but I just found her explanations hit the spot for me. One of her many seminars explains the deep benefits of rebounding and this kick started my journey. I found it a basic thing I could cope with daily and I went back for more of her seminars and have not looked back. My mum and I used to share our food creations and here I am making them without her and am able to write this comment without crying ❤ . You’re so brave sharing your experience and strong doing with a smile 😊 Looking forward to your new content 🎉
Hello Ameila ~ Thank you so much as I have never heard of Barbara O'Neill - I will look her up for sure and take a listen. Thank you for sharing what has helped you. We can all support each other....🙏
So lovely to see you back on youtube Natalie. I'm very sorry to hear about your Mum and the terrible experience you and your family have had. You return just when I need you most. I have had an extremely stressful 18 months too and, like you, I turn to vegan junk food and lots of it for comfort and to calm my nerves. I feel so addicted to it all now that I'm not sure how to start to get it out of my life again. Am hoping for some tips and others to share the journey with. I have gained a few stones during this time and feel really terrible. I'm ready now to make a fresh start and get back to The Starch solution. Fab to have you back again. Shell X
Oh Shell, we are in the same position for sure. It's easily done. The amount of times I have said, "I'll start tomorrow" ~ we all know tomorrow never comes. So, I start today, right now, and I'd love to have you along for the journey. We can do this. Team work. x💚
Natalie, old subscriber here. Great to see you back. May your dear mum RIP and may your heart heal. You've made a lot of ppl feel less alone in their grief ♡ Sending you friendship and love from Australia xx
So sorry to hear about your Mum, Natalie. I lost my Dad to cancer in 2021, it was heart-breaking and I don't know if I will ever come to terms with what he went through. Lovely that you feel able to come back now to your channel. I too need to get back on track with my health and diet. Looking forward to your content xx
oh Julie - I feel the same way. I didn't know things could be as awful as they were for my poor mum. Just horrendous, as you know. I am so sorry. Let's get back on track
So sorry Natalie. I can empathize with you. I am a new subscriber and have been enjoying your past videos and bought your cookbook! Getting back on track is exactly what I need at the moment too!
I'm so happy to see your beautiful face!! I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. My own mommy left us in 2014 (cancer, too) and it's still hard today, I still reach for that phone to call her. I'm all about freedom from recipes in the kitchen....simplicity is my goal. You can do it!! 🤟
Welcome back Natalie and so sorry for your loss. I was so excited to see your channel is back. I love that you are in the UK like me and so relate to all the food you buy. We. All need to fall in love with non ultra processed food which is so difficult. I am looking forward to joining you in your journey 😊
I'm really sorry about the passing of your mom. I have lost both of my parents So I know how awful it is. I am one of your prior subscribers and I am still here and anxious to see your journey and follow along as I am also struggling.
Thank you so much for sharing, and I’m so very sorry for the loss of your mum - losing a parent is incredibly hard. I for one, am very happy to see you back and look forward to your future videos as well as still enjoying your old ones! Good luck on your journey back into healthy eating 😊
Dear Nathalie, I've been thinking about you. Honoustly was thinking about you the past days a lot. But now I understand why. I am so sorry for your loss. So glad that you are open and that you are back. Sending love from The Netherlands❤
Still here, I have wondered how you and your family were doing were on quite a few occasions, as it appeared to be serious and close to home. So sorry, please take your time coming “back” we are all here, and here for you.
We are here for you. So sorry to hear about your mum. Best wishes on your goal to be healthy (not Skinny) and looking forward to whatever you throw at us. Much Love and Peace from Upstate NY.
Hi Natalie, I’m new to your channel but first I would like to send my sincere condolences to you and your family. I’m very sorry for the loss of your mother. I started about 2 months ago with WFPB’d foods and I have fallen off already myself but I get right back on. I’ve lost 15lbs in the 2 months but I go up and down a couple of pounds as I eat the processed foods or sugary foods. I have high cholesterol is why i wanted to get healthy and lose weight. I’m excited to watch you as you have inspired me! So THANK YOU!! I’m glad I’m not the only one. ☺️. Welcome back!
I’m here for it and very sorry about your loss. I am newly vegan (March 23, 2023) and have been consistent and enjoying my new way of eating. Today however I binged for the first time since March and am fearful that I will go back to those behaviors. Your video has inspired me to keep going and not give in to old patterns of behavior. Thank you❤
New Vegan! yipppeee 💚 It is so rewarding, and of course so good for us and the animals & planet ~ a lapse is totally normal, it took me ages to to get my head around everything. I also used to binge, terribly in my 20s. Humans are very adaptable ~ just keep looking forward 💚
Glad your back ! I've just pushed my diet and fitness back up the priority list so glad to see someone I can relate to doing the same ,looking forward to the journey!
Natalie! It’s so wonderful to see you back on UA-cam. I am so sorry for the sadness and difficulties you’ve had in the past year. I want to let you know that I find you inspiring and optimistic and I look forward to your new content. I too am a committed vegan but not always a healthy eater. Let’s change this together
I was so excited when I saw this. Welcome back. You’re one of the people who inspired me to start my own UA-cam. So thank you. I lost my dad to a 2 year battle with cancer. It was so awful to watch. My heart is with you for your mum ❤ I also gained weight for the exact same reason as you. It’s a fight to get it off. I look forward to watching your journey. I’m also in the UK a vegan junk food is everywhere. We’ll lose the weight and get back to health!
Welcome back Natalie, my deepest condolences for you and your family. Old subscriber, continuing to follow you because how you explained the new direction of your content is where I need to be and what I need to see and hear and learn from. Looking forward to your upcoming content. Take care of yourself. Hugs! ❤️
Hey 👋🏻 Natalie It’s so good to see you pop back up…I’ve been thinking of you & checking every now & then to see if you’ve posted. Welcome back 😘 Please accept my condolences for the loss of your Mum ❤ Grief is a journey we all must endure at some stage & each of us react in different ways. Thank you for your honesty. I’m looking forward to your next video. You are an inspiration. Always remember your worth lovely lady 🥰 Be kind to yourself ❤
Hi Natalie. I am quite new to The Starch Solution - and to your channel. I'm so very sorry to hear about what happened to your Mum and for your loss. I lost my Mum to Alzheimers, and two other family members to Cancer and was the same with emotional eating and too much alcohol also. Sometimes it's just how we get through things. I also had someone very close to me go through something inexplicably terrible in the last 18 months and again, the same thing happened with me. I have gained so much weight and completely feel your pain. I'm now (I think) ready to get back on track and concentrate on my health. I'm sending positive thoughts your way. I love your channel and was stoked to find a fellow UK person with a Starch Solution Channel. I sincerely hope to see you back here.X
I just came across your channel for the first time.. I am so sorry for your loss 😞🙏🏼🕊️ may your mom rest in peace and may the beautiful memories of her and with her provide you comfort..💜💜 You have an amazing authenticity and that is admirable..I am going to go back and start watching your videos. Have mostly plant based now for a year, it’s a process and I have transformed my life for health reasons and the other reasons follow also. I love animals and our beautiful planet.. Wishing you lots of blessings in your new journey..🙏🏼💜🌱🥦💚
It will never get old hearing how people have come around to eating this way ~ it makes me so happy. It is a process. You're right. Thank you for your comment 💚
It's great to see you back, my sympathies to you and your family. It'e so easy to fall into the temptations all around, my struggle is traveling, slim pickins some time. Good luck on this part of your journey, I am trying to be very commited to whole food and not so much the recipes, I hope for success for both of us
I've been thinking about you lately and I'm glad you're back! I'm sorry you've been through such a difficult time, and I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I know exactly how it feels to fall off the wagon due two emotional eating. I'm here for the long haul, and I'm looking forward to seeing this new direction unfold for you. One day at a time one step at a time.
So very sorry to hear about your Mum, it's so very hard to go through these things. I lost my lovely Mum last year to Alzheimer's which was pretty horrendous and have and am still suffering from everything so can understand your struggle and sadness. It's lovely to see you back again, be kind to yourself and take one day at a time and you will get there. Much love from Spain ❤️
Gillllll..... helllooooo! So great to see you back here on the channel - your story was/is incredible. Thank you for taking the time to comment, I know life is so busy for you right now xxxx I'm so grateful to know you
I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. I’m on board for whatever videos you want to put out. I’m vegan as well and subscribed awhile ago for the SS content, but will stay for the wonderful person you are, Natalie! I’m glad you are back!
It is so lovely to have you back. You are an inspiration and I will be coming along on this journey with you. So sorry to hear about your mum. We are all here for you xx
I just found your channel a few weeks ago. I watched a pile of them and was sad to see you hadn't made a video in a year. This video explains why. So sorry to hear about your mum. I'm excited to see your new videos as I too am trying to transform my diet for health. Looking forward to whatever you are able to post. Best of luck and thanks!
How very brave of you. Sending love to you. I have just lost my brother so know how difficult I feel. All the best to you and we have missed you and need you to do what's right for you! X🤗
Hey Natalie! I am excited to see you again, I check your channel periodically to see if you have any new videos and here you are! I know exactly what you have lost in your mother and is so sad, hopefully it's eased up a lot now and you have found that place of peace. I am looking forward to your future videos! I am on a weight loss goal , so we can all get committed together!
Welcome back Natalie. I love your videos as much as I like your person, so I’ll follow you regardless of the content of your videos. Thanks a lot for all of your work.
God bless you. These powerful life events can take years to be healed from. I wish you peace and healing on your journey. I recently discovered your channel, and I am enjoying it so much. I am a vegan, too. Thank you for everything!
Hi, we are all still here! I don't normally comment on channels but felt I had to let you know that I send all my support and best wishes for you in the future. So sorry about your mum, time isn't so much of a healer but time makes it hurt less. Take care of yourself as I am sure your mum would want this and she would be proud of you getting back to your channel xxx
Your kindness and understanding in these comments has blown me away. THANK YOU so so much 💚
I am so very sorry for your heartache and loss! Prayers for comfort.🙏❤
Thanks so much Jane 💚💚

Thank you Sharon, so wonderful to hear you are on board. Great to have you here.
I’m curious to see what you will do now, I’ll be watching,
ahhh, thanks you for still being here 💚 what a lovely message. I am so sorry to hear you've lost both parents, it's such a difficult part of life 💚
'hheeeyyyyyy' ~ I remember your lovely comments with fond memories - I'm so happy I haven't 'lost' you 💚
Well - I am right there with you, I have gained and gained, kept telling myself to 'sort it out' AND to start training for bone density, and it simply has not happened.
I start TODAY, and I will be accountable on this channel ~ and you can come along with me!
The chaos sounds hard to handle, I guess we all have something going on! Sorry to hear that....
THANK YOU always for being here 💚 Let's do this!
So proud of you and so looking forward to following you on this journey. You got this!
Thank you so much!!
Welcome back. I also lost my father recently. I was very pleased when you popped up on my screen. Lovely to see you again
Sorry to hear that Shirley 💚 Sending a hug to you
As a subscriber, your video did pop up for me as a recommended video. It’s so nice to see you back. I lost my mom 12 years ago, the anniversary of her passing is tomorrow. I also had a recent weight gain and now working on more plain and simple WFPB low fat meals.
Great to hear you getting back on track ~ like me, slowly 💚
Thank you for your kind message 💚

Sorry for your loss, so hard to loose your Mum. Welcome back and thank you for all of your knowledge and sharing to help others, you’re wonderful
Thank you Kim ~ congrats on -15lbs, that's fantastic. You're on the right track, and there is so much support online. Great to have you here 💚
I’m here for it and very sorry about your loss.
I'm with you. I've gained weight also and I'm so ready to be healthier. Thanks for returning and being honest.
You are so welcome ~ lets' do this together 💚

Hi, Natalie! Very sorry to hear about the loss of your mom, but so glad to see you back. Looking forward to your videos💕
Thank you so much! 💚
