  • This video demonstrates how to change out an idler pulley on a 2003 Mazda B3000. I meant to post this way back in January of this year (that's why we are wearing coats). Please like this video if you enjoyed it and subscribe for future videos! Also, I appreciate any constructive feedback, comments, and questions. Thanks for watching!

Hi, do you loosen the belt by going clockwise and take off the bolt by going counter clockwise. lefty loosy? I pulled down on the bolt as hard as I could going clockwise but the pulley wouldn't come off.

Yes, you loosen the belt by trying to turn the tensioner pulley bolt clockwise. This will disengage the tensioner from the belt and allow you to remove. Then if you want to take the pulley off, turn the bolt counter-clockwise. A breaker bar is a big help to get it loose.

got it off and replaced it. Tight fit with the short ratchet. My truck still makes the squeaky noise but more quiet than before. It only seems to make it now when the car is idle and not when it's driving. Perhaps the pulley was one factor and the other is a misalignment issue. A least I know that the belt is ok and the pulley bearings are new so hopefully the belt won't snap and I hafta stick my thumb out for a ride.
      Thanks for the vid.

Which pulley did you replace next to stop the squeak ? My B 3000 is doing the same thing squeaky.
