I gotta say, I've been through like 6 or 7 different videos on this job and yours was, by far, the easiest to follow. I was surprised to see that it's a 7 year old video! 👍👍
I just wanted to tell you, that it's only been a month and some change since you posted this, but you've already helped someone replace their belt and save some cash. I was worried about this, didn't want to pay a mechanic 60-75 bucks to do it if I could so after watching your video I tried it and completed the task! I would highly recommend to anyone that can, to get the special belt removal tool that you show, we didn't have and it would have really came in handy and helped lessen hassles. Anyway, I'm a middle age Woman, with no previous mechanic training (except watching your video) and with the help of a Neighbor letting me use his shop, and tools, together we did this and neither one of us had done this kind of thing before. Bravo on the video and on how you presented each step and task. My pickup is now squeak free and I am a happy camper!
same...love these video's. i wish i had the factory book on this, but they don't sell them around where i live and i buy local only. These video's help folks..thank you for taking the time to make them. I appreciate it and your efforts! FORD MOTOR COMPANY (F)
Your video was a big help! New serpentine belt and Idler pulley for my 93 ranger. I did have to wiggle the tension pulley a lot to get it moving though. Thanks for the great video help Raul.
damn not gonna lie did it with the two wrenches getting that belt back on was a extremely difficult. But it did stop the annoying screeching! Thanks your vid was the best !
If it kept screeching, it can possibly be the idler pulley. If you take the belt back off, spin the pulley and listen for scraping or binding. The two wrench method os much harder to remove the belt, because it hard to hold it and there isn’t alot of room in that area
TIG2MAN0 Actually, it goes in front of the fan first, and then goes behind it after it is all the way around it. He had me scratching my head at first.
My 2000 Ranger screeches for the first mile .I will be using your video to fix it right this time as i had a "Shop Fix"it less than an oil change ago...
Hey thanks for sharing this video....I got a 94 Ranger 4.0 and I have to replace the Idler pulley and put new belt on.Hopefully we get some better weather than -4 here in Ohio to fix.
You can get a loaner serpentine belt tool from Advance Auto Parts and possibly from other auto parts stores. You pay for the tool and use it. When you return the tool, they refund the price. I did this when I replaced the alternator in my 2000 Ranger.
Hey, great video. I am trying to put a belt on a '99 Ranger V6 3.0. Same setup, everything looks the same as your video. However I cannot get the belt back on. I'm using a ratchet but I even put a pipe on it (the ratchet handle) to give more leverage and push it as far as it will go. Got someone else to try to put the belt on the A/C and Power Steering while l pushed the tensioner. It lacks about a 1/4" going on. We tried multiple times. The belt appears to be the exact same size as the old one. Any ideas?
sometimes if the pipe is to long, you can't grab it at a lower position, so it taps out because you don't have enough leverage. same thing happened to me before, when i used a ratchet and pipe. try using the one combination wrench and a big wrench, or buy the tension removal tool at harbor freight (they are pretty cheap). then you can put your socket on the end, and its a piece of cake to put back on.
Just back away for about 5 min. then go back and look at how the belt goes around and make sure it's in right position. try again. It ain't as easy as it looks!
Thanks for the response. We finally got it. Had to take a long screwdriver/crowbar and push the belt under the idler pulley. It was just too far off to get it on the A/C pulley.
I had a mechanic friend stop by and he couldn't get it on either. So he had me hold the tensioner down and he got his tool and popped it on there. It worked so I'm not complaining! Thanks
Question for You My friend does the belt adjust to apropiated tenssion it self or it has manual tensioner? cus l Will like to stop squeking in My Ford Ranger maybe is loose.
Yes self appropriated tension. Did you get any antifreeze or oil on the belt?? If you get antifreeze on it, you can try to take it off and wash it. But usually you have to replace it. Also if the belt is new, the tensioner might be the issue not the belt. They will squeak when they are bad
great video thank you I have a 99 Ford ranger when I am driving and I turn on the AC the belt falls off do you think it's a problem with the serpentine?
Casey Ostrander i am sure there is a torque spec, i can check my repair manual and see what it says. When i remove bolts, I usually get an idea how tight they are. This gives me a fairly good idea how tight they should be.
First, remove the 4" diameter tube that goes from the throttle body to the air box. It's on top and gets in the way. The top of the fan shroud seems to be missing.
I didn’t have to remove any of that, but i do mention that you can remove it. I unplugged the mass air flow sensor and moved all that aside. The fan shroud is there. Maybe bad camera angle.
I learned the Gates belt for a 2000 Ranger 3.0 with air conditioner part # K060882RPM does not fit. If anyone buys this belt return it. It's too small. I will be getting my next belt at the Ford Dealer.
Sell it now ummm yeah. You can google just about everything. But if the sticker is there, or you can snap a few pictures, this will save you time of having to look it up. Why state the obvious??? I just don’t understand why people like you would make a comment like this. I do these videos for free. Unless you know the torque specs, that would actually help to assist this video or others, why throw a negative comment? I just don’t understand why. Maybe i just don’t understand

great video my pulley started screaming and this video helped so much after watching i was done in 15 mins ! thanks man !
awesome !!
Thanks man ! Other videos did not show the belt around fan blades. Great help !
Thanks for the video. The part regarding looping the belt behind the fan is a great tip.

@@raiderman28 thanks for the reply. no pulley's were fine. just an old belt the noise stopped. Thanks again for your vid it helped alot!
I just got my truck for ranger thank you for share the talents.
Thanks. Just had the clutch done so I'm doing this myself. Very clear explanations and video showed good view of the parts. Appreciated.
pramponi glad I could help
Man U saved me a lot of money thank you soso much for your step by step god bless u man !!!!👏🙏
Freight Train your welcome
Good vid. The serpentine belt tool is worth gold when replacing belts.
xyz yes it is.
Glad you showed that the belt goes behind the fan. I was a little thrown when i saw it :D
I was thinking i would have to take off the fan lol

Dennis B. Usually the serpentine belts causes that, but if you have never replaced idler, might be time to
Hey thanks for sharing this video....I got a 94 Ranger 4.0 and I have to replace the Idler pulley and put new belt on.Hopefully we get some better weather than -4 here in Ohio to fix.
did it today worked great! had some help from my bro for the last part.

It helped me out a lot.
Jackie Sandusky good to hear

I think O'Reilly's does the same
VERY well spoken and clear... would love for u to work on my vehicles👏🏻🤙🏼👊🏼
For Brett and Elyse. This is you tube. This is how you get shit done.
Do you need that kit to do the job or can you use the wrench trick for the job?
ALL IN PREDICTIONS AND BETS you can do it either way. With the tool much easier

mcndahouse seems like you did it the hard way!! But hey, if you got it done, that’s what’s important
I had a mechanic friend stop by and he couldn't get it on either. So he had me hold the tensioner down and he got his tool and popped it on there. It worked so I'm not complaining! Thanks
15 millimeters thank you tho i was trying last night to find taht tool but the size
thank you bery much ill do the work my self

awesome video ! im going to try it out today thanks :)
Thank you !!! I know I can do it now . God Bless you
Renate Newton you can do it
Is this the same for 1999 ford Ranger?
Denis its should be similar, but i think 99 had 4 cylinders, this is a 6 cylinder
Thanks. Just bought the truck today that the previous owner replaced the top pulley only
I have a 99 ford ranger v6 3.0 and its pretty much the same as the 2000... Great vid thanx...
Thanks for the video, helpful.
great video thank you I have a 99 Ford ranger when I am driving and I turn on the AC the belt falls off do you think it's a problem with the serpentine?
Jose Hidalgo check your tension pulley. If there is not enough tension, it will fall off
Raul Romo thank you
Is this the same thing for a 96 ford ranger
Shasity Gatewood might be similar, you can use this as a reference
Yup
Great video 👌
i change my belt every 2 years and i only use a regular ratchet and socket , just align the fan so that you can fit the ratchet on bolt
tweak that will work also 👍
Is there a torque spec for the bolt on the idler pulley? I have a ’92, but it looks basically the same.
Casey Ostrander i am sure there is a torque spec, i can check my repair manual and see what it says. When i remove bolts, I usually get an idea how tight they are. This gives me a fairly good idea how tight they should be.
Casey Ostrander roughly 18 lbs You can check your toque spec before removing it to get a rough idea.
Thanks, man. My Haynes manual gives no info, while forums say that Ford manuals state 35-47 lbs. Weird how hard it is to get a solid answer on this.
Casey Ostrander i will look in manual and see what it says. I usually tighten hard and alittle more lol
Ha! Old school. :-)

good video, but wouldn't the project have been alot easier if your had removed/relocated the air hose connections?
john hoagland it doesn’t get in the way of working, but maybe in the way of the camera lol
hi thank you

Was it too small or big??
I usually take the old belt with me when i buy a new one.
I don’t remember what belt i replaced my Ranger with.
@@raiderman28 Too small.
You can google the routing of the belt if you dont have diagram.
