    Looks great, I used something like that to carry out emergency repairs of tanks and pipes years ago, it was called Pig Putty, looks like its use has expanded out a bit!

    Nice ! when I first seen the picture of your project, I thought it was aluminum melted into the project, and then thought how the hell did she do that. LOL with Milliput, who would of thought it'd look like metal.

    Milliput is interesting stuff. I prefer resin, but there are some uses where it doesn't work as well. I like that you didn't blend the milliput into a uniform gray. Lovely shape of the vase.

    • @PFWoodturning
      @PFWoodturning  5 років тому

      Thanks, Deb. Yes, I hear you about the resin--you can do a lot more with it, really. Milliput is great to change it up a bit!

    Why not a roughing gouge to start? Just wondering? Nice result!

    • @PFWoodturning
      @PFWoodturning  5 років тому

      Thanks. I don't have a bowl roughing gouge. Only a spindle roughing gouge.

    • @terry2346
      @terry2346 5 років тому

      @@PFWoodturning A spindle roughing gouge was what I was referring to -- Sorry I did not make that clear. Usually a ~1 inch wide spindle roughing gouge is the first tool most go to to round a spindle like the vase you were working on. They are much bigger and wider than the ones you were using and they make short work of getting down to round. You can also use a skew to get down to round but that takes a lot of skill -- Beyond my level! :)

    Love the finish Peggy, for someone that hasn’t been turning for long, you use those tools so confidently and smoothly. Makes the rest of us look bad lol. I noticed when you used the forstner bit, you appeared to have an extension of some sort. Can you please direct me to where I can get one? Thanks, Sean

    P.F Woodturning I love this vase with the black and white epoxy. Could I ask some advice?........although I have been turning a while now I have never turned a vase as I am not that confidant that I don't catch the chisel and bust the vase, could I ask how you sand the inside and how you get a complete finish on the inside of the vase? Thanks

    • @PFWoodturning
      @PFWoodturning  5 років тому +1

      Hello and thank you. To sand the inside I use masking tape and tape sandpaper to the end of a tool, if I can't reach that far down safely. They do make tools for sanding far down, I just don't have one.

      @@gavincoyle I have used a piece of broom stick or dowel rod and taped shop a rag to the end then wrapped the rag with self adhesive sandpaper or taped sandpaper to it. You just need to be very carefull when doing this to make sure the shop rag is taped completely so it doesn't catch on the wood. But this gives a little padding and I find gives a nicer finish
