And now he's being forced into almost bi weekly breaks because of how hard he works because like you said he doesn't sleep lmao. He also smokes, a lot. Idk I hope he lives a long life, without too many troubles, and is able to retire on his terms because he's at least earned that right after making millions of people happy.
The clause is really there because Oda is a vampire, he's able to keep up the pace by draining the life force from his assistants.
Meanwhile there are ungrateful fans who mad about Oda only release 3 chapters per month
I mean, the fact Oda included a clause saying "has to be willing to die for One Piece" as part of the requirements in hiring his assistants just shows that there's literally nobody else in the world who loves One Piece more than Oda himself.
I believe you have that fact a bit wrong, at least from what I remember hearing, it was Oda who made that claim to his editor trying to sell the idea of One Piece to him he was "willing to die for One Piece" to show his determination, which fits with how much effort Oda puts into this series.

Daniel has no idea how extremely spot on the expression "He is having fun crafting One Piece is". It is probably the fictional creation that most shows the love of his author and even now, 1021 chs laters, every two weeks we are reminded of that. This is his journey also.

Agreed. Luffy just does most things on a whim. He doesn’t see himself as a hero and he doesn’t wanna be one. That’s why he wouldn’t get anywhere without having a crew.
Luffy isn't a hero with morals and that stuff, he is a guy who follow his instinct, so when he trust someone or beat someone it's because of his instinct, that what make him more interesting than other protagonists.
Impel Down being Dante's Inferno with Buggy the clown as a put-upon, unwitting Vergil to Luffy's Dante remains one of the best parts of the ENTIRE series

It magelahn''s defence, Shiryu is a former friend and warden. He probably assumed that he would at least fight put the other prisoners back in there cells. In DnD terms, he assumed Shiryu was some level of Lawful like he is. Unfortunately, Shiryu was True Neutral/ Neutral Evil.

Wow, I feel the Bon Clay love has been ignored. Man's literally saved Luffy's ass 3 times. 1 time from seriously dying. The first time he helped him escape in Alabasta which caused him to be held in Impel Down and that wasn't mentioned in that review. Then from dying by poison and then he sacrificed himself again so Luffy could go save Ace only to be captured.
He is taking sanjis role at opening the gates but he sacrificed himself, yes he is underrated

Bon Clay actually escapes Hina. Theres an entire story arc in the comic covers that shows how Bon Clay actually got captured.

More than a videogame i would say this is designed after the hell from Dante Alighieri's "Divina Commedia". Impel down is pretty much a simplified version of his hell.

Yeah this part of the story is where you realize that Luffy was just a big fish in a small pond. Now he's a small fish in a massive ocean. There is a reason Luffy is called a rookie. He really is just a hotshot newbie on the Grand Line.
Luffy has had a LOT of luck in his journey. Kuma was basically when he ran out of that luck.

Sweet, Impel Down is probably my favorite pre-timeskip arc.

For Luffy's philosophy, he chose the pirate live. So he acknowledge there no fair and unfair for people who chose this path. But if civilian became the victims of pirates, then he will protect that person. If you noticed luffy will plunder another pirate's wealth every time. So the conclusion is he is chaotic to the people who chose the pirate life but hate it when civilians or normal people affected by it.
@PRIJITH PJ yeah, his friends who doesn't choose the pirates life. When ace is going to be executed. Seeing his vivre card burning at first doesn't make luffy just want to go save him, because he knows ace chose the pirates life. But when he ultimately know that ace is going to die, he goes to save him because he wants to.

also I doubt he even put togetherthat the prisoners were in the place for a reason, in fact I'm not sure he even fully understands what crime is.
The main issue is that luffy has yet to see a true negative consequence of his actions. Information is a lot harder to gather in the one piece world, and most of the time the results he does see come from his actions are always positive. He doesn't care about the long term effects of his actions when he needs help NOW, and he isn't the type to get hung up on "what could I have done" when there is nothing he could have done. But he has shown to at least consider the long term consequences of what he does, so we truly dont know how he would react if say, crocodile destroyed syrup village because luffy freed him.
His team: so, a wanna be Pirate King, a powerful Ninja type killer, a thief, a perv, a lier, a monster, a murdering Cyborg who does like to build heavy weapons, an assassin, etc...
You can read One Piece totally differently.
Newbie here, but this could be a (rather sad) take on the overall story.
Could be such a 18o at the very end.
I'd bet on such an issue.
(That and reincarnation of Roger in Luffy, so, so heavily foreshadowed from the earliest arcs).
There are bunch of discussions and conclusions about this, but the one that I like is that Luffy wants to be free above all so he helps people who can't be free by themselves. I think he's a chaotic good.

He save Luffy in Fishman island, heal the kidnapped kids in Punk Hazard, Save Minks people life in Zou, and now in manga wano he also heal people that infected by the Ice Oni virus in Onigashima. But well, for people who only want fights and badass moment, he will be boring for you guys I guess.

But she has done her role as the navigator beautifully after time skip. They have had no problems with getting lost at sea even once since the time skip. that accounts for something imo .

One interesting thing here when it comes to allying with previous enemies is that I think it highlights Luffy's ability for the Past to be left in the Past. Crocodile was an ass. Luffy beat the crap out of him. Scales are now balanced. Running into him again now, that score has been settled, and Luffy doesn't hold grudges, so he Judges Croc on his actions in the here and now, and if he's willing to help, so be it.
We've seen this already twice with Franky and Robin joining the crew: the ultimate show of trust, even though they actively hurt the current crew at the time when they first met them as villains. I have further thoughts as why this is the case, but that's deep into spoiler/theory territory, so I''ll leave it at that for now :3
Welp tbh Luffy didn't want to get Crocodile out, Ivankov had to convice him by blackmailing Crocodile. I think Luffy does hate those that are truly evil unless they apologize and say that they changed like Caribou
Don't count on arcs getting shorter from here. Just PLEASE DON'T compromise on the substance to shorten the length of future reviews. There's going to be A LOT of substance packed in future arcs, especially once you start seeing the interconnected and heavily foreshadowed nature of One Piece.
Speaking if long arcs, 👗🌹 had me so pissed off it took me a year to go through it
@@zaidb4296 It's a limitation of the manga format. It's much better in a reread. Unless you're anime only, in which case I'd recommend One Pace because they did an excellent job with that arc.

Luffy’s defeat to Magellan and that final scream asking for Ace is one of my favorite parts of this arc.
Ivankov was so wonderfully funny in this, from his make up joke to his distractive winking that you'd think that he can airbend through those lashes

I think the Impel Down crew of Luffy, Buggy, Mr. 3, Bonclay, Crocodile, Jinbei, Ivankov, and Mr. 1 had a really fun dynamic that made the lack of the other SH in this arc not hurt as much.

Impel Down is a great arc cause it shows what happens when Luffy greatest strength his crew is not with him. His natural leader ability of getting people on his side through just being himself and circumstances that makes them work with him. You believe in him after defying great odds almost dying he can make miracles happen! Great set up for next arc feeling that way going into it.

To be entirely honest. His predictions had some really interesting points in it. I'm excited to see his reaction.
And fun fact: Magellan has been paired with the Admirals in terms of power. His "problem" to reach this standard fully is his constant "visits" to the bathroom because he keeps poisoning his food
I'm glad Magellan is getting the respect he deserves here; not many people recognize how impressive his power during impel down was. Dude took down Luffy and Blackbeard's whole crew with little to no difficulty at all

Impel Down is one of my absolute favourite arcs, again Oda surprised me bc I did not expect at all for all these previous villain's to come in and make this crew with Luffy. I LOVE crossovers and damn, this was such a fun time, it holds a super special place in my heart. Just so much fun (and so much pain 😭 Bonclay my love... 💔) we also saw Luffy's drive to save his brother and such beautiful moments with Ace and his regrets and worries about Luffy ❤️ so precious. Have fun with the next arc! It's gonna be a doozy lol

Well luffy was never "imma good guy imma save people", everyone he has saved so far is for a friend, alabasta for vivi, skypiea because they were being attacked in the first place and to ring the bell for cricket as well, thriller bark to get shadows back, etc etc
4Kids being a company wanting to make squeaky clean content made One Piece being foisted upon them a big mistake on all parties, though this doesn't absolve their bad business practice from the start. It was awful to go far beyond standard 'localization' in favor of gross "Americanization'. I'll never forgive them for marring the career of David Moo so thoroughly with how they directed Sanji, David Moo is a fantastic actor.

The thing that amazes me most about this series is that it has been ongoing since 1997. FIFTEEN+ YEARS! And it's still this awesome! AND IT'S STILL NOT SLOWING DOWN!!

Ahhhhhhh don’t call the Hero for the man himself, simply mr 2. It’s Bon Clay I was so excited to see him again, my top 3 favorite non straw hats saves Luffy twice this ark and once I’m alabasta and was in prison for the sacrifice. Bon Clay you are a hero and a true friend to Luffy

After finding your channel from the One Piece reviews. I have really enjoyed your content, and have picked up a few books from your reviews. Me and my GF read The Book of Ancestors and we both really loved it so thanks.
Reading the manga is the best way to experience One Piece, but I would highly recommend watching some of the best moments in the anime, so you can feel the emotions, to hear the voice actors, which are freaking amazing, to hear the soundtrack. There is a list of some must watch moments of One Piece:
The death of the Going Merry (I was bawling my eyes out hearing her voice, with the music playing in the background)
Bink’s Sake (This song is so beautiful, you must listen to it!)
Robin’s I want to live moment, it’s so beautiful
The separation of the Straw Hats at Sabaody

Man I did the maths the other day, and I've been following one piece for like 15+ years since I was a kid... I remember this was the arc that made me go back and actually start looking at the lore I had missed as a child. It's been so much ridiculous fun seeing you go through the story and vicariously get to "see it" again for the "first time" :') It makes me so happy you're so into the story!!

It's so cute and predictable seeing Daniel falling into the trap like so many others of trying to theorize about One Piece but at least he got one thing right but most people do, so I can't wait to see his reaction on the upcoming arc and the outcome of said arc.

My favorite think about the 4kids dub? I’m so glad you asked Daniel!! My favorite thing about it is how they just erased Laboon from existence. Laboon is just not in the show. And when Brooke became a character in the manga about two years later, 4kids just decided to cancel the freaking show!
