Bon chan is in impel down because he sacrificed himself so the straw hats could escape the Marines at the end of Alabasta. You'll love him much more on a re read.
In fact he and Mr 3 are arrested helping the other members of Baroque to escape in one of the cover stories. It is between chapters 359 and 413. (Crocodile and Mr 1 choose not to run away)
Not just that. even before that he befriended with the strawhats already (excluding sanji because he didnt even see him at this point.) he ONLY was chasing vivi & fought sanji later(the only strawhat he didnt befriend with yet). so technically he always was luffys friend. thats why they were happy to see eachother again lol.
You can’t disrespect my boy like that. Bon clays most famous quote when he briefly first met the stawhats and becomes buds with them before they even arrived at Alabasta: “To true friendship, how long you've known each other means nothing.” Ends up sacrificing himself TWICE for Luffy. He is a real one.
Grand Line Review made a great video about what if everyone that luffy invited join the crew. Truly a spectacular group of characters like Gaimon, The Zombie Tree and The Zombie Unicorn from Triller Bark and the best of all Kin'emon's lower half. Only his lower half.
“My staff and I often go to a very noisy Japanese restaurant where a lot of people take their children. There are TVs at each table. If you go there on Sunday nights at 7:30, you’ll see the children staring at the TV screens with their mouths wide open, looking silly. They’re watching One Piece. When I see that, I never want to let them down.” - Eiichiro Oda, 2001
That’s awesome. I’m sure that motivates them to continue doing what they do. Reminds me of the video Maximillian Dood did where he talked about meeting some team members on the FF7 Remake team and how they would watch his reaction to the Remake trailer to remind themselves why they are working like crazy. It was a huge honor for him.
Literally everyone with two brain cells identified this when the story explains the prison’s structure and layout. This isn’t a unique or clever observation.
To be fair, Boa's misunderstanding of Luffy is funnier and makes more sense in the original Japanese. When he says "Thank you", in Japanese that would be "arigatô", which sounds somewhat close to "ai shiteru" (very strong expression of "I love you" that only romantic partners use). And when he calls her by her name, "Hankoku" (her name spelled in Japanese) sounds somewhat similar to "konyaku" (engagement - which said on it's own can mean something along the lines of "let's get engaged" or "we are engaged now"). So the humor here is in her wanting to hear those words just sliiiighly wrong :D.
あいしている/ありがとう はんこく/こんやく I feel like these aren't really that close though... like it's not "carriage -> marriage" it's "cartridge -> marriage" no one is mistaking the differences. 愛している and ありがとう literally just start with the same sound. Does she freak out every time luffy says something that starts with あ?
@@Slink1701 Hancock didn’t hear Luffy when he said arigato, she only interpreted his mouth movements from afar. Try to say arigato and ai shiteru, and focus on your mouth movements, or just look at yourself in the mirror while doing it. They are very similar and since Boa was already misinterpreting everything it is even more understandable that she thought Luffy worded ai shiteru.
@@ChristmasLore I explained in my comment why they are similar. Boa didn’t hear Luffy say the words, she only saw his mouth moving. Hence, the jokes basically only work in the Japanese language.
I do think Jinbei's reply to Crocodile was more of "I shall avoid being offended by your racism because we need to be allies right now" than agreeing with him x'D
He was being sarcastic, starting with the "is it so odd that a fishman can communicate with fish? " then the "I guess we are barbaric" is his way or saying, really prison guy... At least that's my take
@@dynamitepete8545 His Kingdom itselfe is very high developed whit a long rich History. Its like saying a Indian Guy agrees beeing called barbaric, cause the British are civialized.
I don't think Jinbei was being sarcastic. Spoiler: It feels more like a set-up for the FMI arc, because he KNOWS about the reality of the Fishmen district and how harsh and kinda terrible life there is, and what kind of violent and self-destructive mentality it breeds in his brethren.
Fun fact: all the 7 Warlords have a connection to animals. Crocodile, DoFlamingo, HawkEye, Gecko Moria, Boa with her snake and medusa motif, Kuma is bear in Japanese, and Jimbe is literally a Wale Shark.
Its Literally literally too, because Jinbei means whale shark in japanese. (Its also the word for a belt like thing, which Jinbei wears, so hes a Jinbei with a Jinbei on)
Fun little fact about the "treasure marker" that luffy wears: He has been wearing it since thriller bark where he takes it from the treasure pile. It belongs to captain John who buggy had been searching for a while and u can actually see captain john's zombie amongst the special zombie that fight franky. Fun little detail oda often likes to encorporate which makes rereading very worthwhile.
Another such example is sharp eyed reader might have noticed that Nami's sister Nojiko is wearing a bracelet through out Arlong Park arc. At the end of the arc, Nojiko no longer has the bracelet and Nami is wearing it now.
Manga spoiler ahead: We now know that Captain John was part of the Rocks pirate crew and that Moria went and retrieved his body as well as possibly Silver Axe and Wang Zhi, so expect this to play a bigger role in the story going forward.
The great thing about Blackbeard is that he’s basically Dark Luffy, he believes in the power and importance of dreams just as much as Luffy does it’s just that his are a lot darker, he’s a lot smarter and much more willing to do awful shit to achieve them
Yeah, I love that aspect of his character. Most villains are already powerful when we meet them and the heroes are playing catch up to match their power. But Blackbeard is really growing parallel to Luffy. I think we first meet him in the Jaya arc and his crew really doesn’t seem very impressive, but obviously he’s very quickly rising
I live blackbeard because he's a really contrastive (?) character, on the one hand he's a long thinking schemer, charismatic, and powerful as a fighter, but he's also an opportunist, a coward, and shows weakness when he is surprised by the circumstances
@@rulfus7 Potential Spoiler going forward, read at ur discretion: Strangely enough, black beard is the only one with the "D" initial that has been shown to fear death.
Thank you someone said this, most people hate him because he's a bad guy and does dirty to Whitebeard, but they forgot he's one of the main villain of One Piece.
Could you imagine Merphy as a new Straw Hat experiencing all this in real time and only ever referred to all the support characters the way she does and *Luffy FUCKING UNDERSTANDS COMPLETELY.*
Damn I’ve never met someone that is so harsh on Bon-Chan especially while and after reading impel down. He does so much for Luffy and truly truly cares as much as any straw hat does that he forever became one of my very favorite characters. He’s one of the best friends you could ever ask for.
That’s because most op fans brush past the misogynistic moments in op. As a woman myself I understand where she’s coming from even though I love bon clay
Hey Merphy! Here's a fun fact. Jinbe was first mentioned as a character in chapter 69. But it wasn't until Impel Down that we really saw what he looks like.
Luffy was delighted to see Bon Clay again because he was the one who helped the Strawhats escape Alabasta after the Marines arrived. The important part of his first introduction was when he told the crew that "Friendship has nothing to do with the length of time spent together." He proclaims that he already considered the Strawhats as his friends despite being with them for just like 5 mins and being an enemy in disguise. We thought those were all just antics until he actually proved the validity of his quote when he showed up when the Marines arrived and sacrificed himself to let the Strawhats escape Alabasta.
It's especially beautiful & genuine becos when they first met luffy being luffy didn't treat him like freak (like some of his Baroque Work colleagues). Instead they just vibed lol, which must have gone a long way with him on top of their shared ideals of friendship. It's the same for all the real freaks in the story lol like Bush guy & Brook lool
@@leondiegodelpino Blackbeard really is an arrogant idiot. He's so overly confident in his own power that he stole, that he thinks he has enough time to trash talk people and beat them down later. Just leaves him wide open for an attack. He's just lucky that he really is that powerful, otherwise he'd be dead by now.

If she gets something wrong but it’s because Oda hasn’t explained it yet and will in the future, then that would be a spoiler. RE her confusing level 5.5 prisoners as all revolutionaries, that could be corrected without spoilers (though I think she’ll figure this out on her own at some point)

One thing I love about how Luffy reacts to the villains in this arc is that he is perfectly fine with forgiving Buggy and Mr.3 simply because he himself never took them seriously as villains since they never did any lasting damage as no one died during their attacks. But he is NOT fine with setting Crocodile free as Crocodile has done stuff that even Luffy doesn't forgive. He even had to be convinced to let Crocodile on the team to escape.
Hannyabal's defiant, hopeless last stand against Luffy is one of the most underrated moments in the arc (or series?) imho He is portrayed as such a joke character for most of the arc, but then Oda flips that on its head for that one perfect moment where he stands up for his ideals and vision of justice at great personal cost, while directly calling out the moral ambiguity of Luffy's actions in a way where even the reader has to stop and say "hmm, he's... kinda got a point there? 🤔" Sure Hannyabal is working for a corrupt/evil organization, and _we_ know Luffy isn't a bad guy. But there's a difference between how we see him and the general public's perception of him, and what he's doing here by freeing all these prisoners _will_ put innocent people in harm's way (or at the very least, have them living in fear) But just like Luffy does, we as a reader justify/excuse his actions because of our personal connection to the characters and how WE NEED TO SAVE AAAAACE 😭
Dragon was never going to bust Iva chan out, he was always capable of doing that on his own. He was waiting on Dragon’s signal to escape, but Luffy and and Ace needing help prompted him to act.
I love how, despite not being in the community, she came up with its biggest meme by herself lmao...but ngl I think he will end up becoming something yonko-like
"First son of the Sea" is Jimbei's pirate epithet, same as how Luffy is called Straw Hat, Zoro is Pirate Hunter, Shanks is Red-haired, Newgate is Whitebeard, Teach is Blackbeard, Ace is Fire Fist and so on. The Japanese wording could also (and maybe more properly) be translated as Knight of the Sea, or even Chivalry of the Sea (which sounds off). There's probably some idiomatic thing going on with the phrase as for why it would get translated that way, but I can't tell you what it could be as I have no clue.
Alot of the fan translations have it as "Jinbei, Knight of the Sea" and I always thought that whole name was better than "Jimbei, First Son of the Sea."
@@Silviremon That is quite fitting for Jimbei, but still doesn't on its own explain why they'd translate something totally different as that. The Japanese is 海侠 ("Kaikyo") - the first kanji is sea, the second is chivalry (or tomboy, though we can probably rule that out as the use).
Aosha That’s now put the image of a Tomboy Jimbei GF. Genderbent Jimbei who’s also a tomboy. If I have to be cursed/blessed with this image, then so do you.
@@IceAokiji303 It's supposed to be a pun off of "任侠" (honorific for a high ranking Yakuza member) I'm assuming since there's just no literal translation, you can just do titles that can convey a similar meaning to the pun, which is why you get lots of different translations on it. (Just something hard to translate into English and they took some artistic liberties on it is my guess)
I think Impel Down expands on an interesting part of Luffy's morality. We've already seen in the Enies Lobby quote you mentioned that he doesn't really concern himself with the state of the world, so it makes sense that he wouldn't really see value in a prison because it protects the world from criminals. He also doesn't really seem to care about prison as a way to punish criminals, the way many people do. In his mind, he already punished people like Mr. 3 and Crocodile when he defeated them and destroyed their plans (ie. dreams). So even though he doesn't like or trust Crococodile, he's not invested in keeping him in prison, and as soon as it is revealed to him that Crocodile can help their cause he has no problem working with him. It's just so purposeful and interesting and I love Luffy's character! (and LONG LIVE THE TINFOIL HAT!)
yesss! Hannyabal's defiant, hopeless last stand against Luffy is one of the most underrated moments in the arc (or series?) He is portrayed as such a joke character, but then he has that one perfect moment where he stands up for his ideals and vision of justice at great personal cost, and directly calls out the moral ambiguity of Luffy's actions in a way where even the reader has to stop and say "hmm... he's kinda got a point there." To me watching this for the first time, Luff free them because the already were punish enough, and they could be redeem able. In a way he gave those people a second chances. Some took that, and prove themselves others did not. Jimba was there wrongfully, and so where other's, in the system, proving that the system in one pice can be just as wrong as the characters.
That not 100% true luffy still had his friend in mind he didn't initially want go free crocodile until he was reminded why he was here and when he realised he could help he put that aside. Friendship is important to luffy but prioritise
Giving Luffy's quest is to maximize freedom, fun, and meat. Trying to waste energy to imprison someone else will interfear with one or more of those goals, with rare exceptions that will continue to interfear with those goals if they are not arrested or at least contained, IE; Mingo, though he usually just defeats them and let the Marines actually do they're jobs
So you don't remember that bon clay was in prison because he fought the marine so the crew could see vivi one last time? And he did that because Luffy saved his life in a funny moment?
From what I recall Ivan said they are just waiting for Dragon to make a move, they’re always ready and capable to break out of that prison anytime once they are ordered to. Ivan wasn’t going to go with them until he learned that Luffy is their leader’s son. Only after that revelation that he thought he can’t let Dragon’s son die, so he decided to go accompany Luffy that instant.
ATTENTION: Everyone, when reading comments, let us report or downvote every spoiler we saw. The next arc would be a lot better experience for her and for us watching her if there wouldn't be any kind of spoilers. Thank you.
2 things: 1) Disliking (downvotes aren’t a thing on UA-cam) a comment on UA-cam doesn’t negatively affect it. 2) There’s nothing (to my knowledge) that you can actually report those comments for, all the options listed would make it a false report. Best thing to do is just not engage with those comments in any way.
KeinNiemand Based on how UA-cam handles dislikes on videos, I sincerely doubt that. If you dislike a video, UA-cam sees that as engagement and boosts it in the algorithm. The best thing to do with content or comments you don’t like is to not engage with it at all.
Lol so true! It’s funny I binged watched One Piece so I never went into theory insanity seeing this with other people is so interesting and entertaining.
Bon-chan suffers from chronic self-sacrifice disorder. He acted as a decoy to help the Straw Hats escape Alabasta. He caused the distraction to ensure Baroque Works could escape. And now this.
@@skrishna3 magellen isn’t a logia, he’s a paramecia. Haki also doesn’t nullify his poison so even if you use haki to punch or defend from his attack you will still get poisoned. His devil fruit is honestly perfect for keeping prisoners in check. Too bad he shits all fay
The reason why Blackbeard cheers on Luffy getting the One Piece while still wanting to kill him is simply because despite being enemies, they both have similar dreams and philosophies and he understands that. He wants to kill Luffy because they're enemies but he also respects Luffy's dream and determination.
Garp is definitely an interesting character. I believe he does believe in what the Navy is supposed to be such as defending people from pirates but he also doesn’t agree with the bad stuff that the world government decides to do….. I think that’s non spoilers enough. So he’s like a conflicted idealist.
Personally? I think the big reason why Garp seems to eb the only member of his family to have joined the Navy is partly a generational divide, the Navy was or didn't seem to be nearly as bad when he was growing up and pirates like the members of the Rocks pirates were worse. So, if Garp saw/experienced pirates doing horrible things and the Navy defending people he would join the navy and see it as needed to protect people from pirates.
@@riccardototo9737 I'm taking a couple minutes to police comments. Forgive me if I'm annoying, I have good intentions. This is potentially a spoiler. Please delete.
What I like about One Piece is that the treasure marker that Buggy was interested in was planted way back in Thriller Bark with captain john's corpse being among the corpse Moria robbed. Related to those are these minor side story with Buggy looking for captain john's treasure that was also way back in chapter 233, in Skypiea Saga That is just simply... incredible. Oda already had Impel Down in mind at least since Skypiea, or even since Alabasta if you consider the fact that Mr.2 was so fittingly designed as a side character that values friendship since Alabasta! He didn't need to be an antagonist that values friendship in Alabasta, but because Oda has future plans for him in Impel Down... he went the extra mile of planting this friendship focus to Mr.2 since Alabasta!
Dang! We're really 4 sec short to reach 60 min mark. I'm positive the next arc will hit that one for sure. Enjoyed your review as always and I can't wait for the next one.
5:00, that is one of One Piece's greatest strengths to me. It is wild and crazy and out there, but soooo internally consistent. The world has its logic, and it makes sense and sticks to it. It makes the world building so legitimately magical.
Whenever Merphy mentions something that is wrong, but I can't recall if that is because she has forgotten something, or it's something that she simply has not been told in the story yet, so I don't dare correct it O.o
Maybe it's something we all thought at the time. And still feel deeply ashamed about it even if we had literally no reason to think otherwise when the chapters were just coming out.
@@Greendalewitch I agree with you. I think it's a spoiler, and think you should delete your comment too. I'd love Merphy to read the story with as little prior knowledge as possible. That word is like the spinning top in Inception. A simple idea that will take over her mind, and ruin that part of the story for her.
Impel Down is my favorite arc for spoiler reasons but one thing I find fascinating is how Oda makes something so dreary like a prison so fun and comedic while on the other hand Sabaody is such a cheerful place that has a really dark, corrupt tone
You could make the argument that the reason Luffy has (his in Murphys words) "super special chosen one" Haki is because Garp put him in so many situations where he had to develop a strong will to survive, or die.
@@captainmarvelous7678 I doubt that. I believe the conqueror haki is passed down through genetics. Garp, Dragon and luffy all have it. All of the "D" people has it as well, I think.
What amazes me the most about this arc is Oda's consistence with his characters. They feel alive and have a place in this world. Most of them aren't just throwaway characters for a single purpose. They influence other characters and impact the world just like everybody else. This is what seperates the world building from so many others.
If i think about, for example luffy broke character like once up to this point, when he attacked Zoro on Whiskey Peak Is it a spoiler to say he will not break character a single time after that point? I think not
Blackbeard was after luffy because he needed someone with a 100million bounty or higher to make him a warlord. When Ace caught up with Blackbeard, Blackbeard wanted Ace in his crew but because Ace refused and wanted Blackbeard for betraying the whitebeatd crew. Blackbeard used ace instead of Luffy as an offering to the world government to become a warlord.
Yep he is just a leader of the army, not the leader, thats luffys dad. Which shows a bit that dragon too has a zany sense of humor probably in private. Ivankov is the leader of the okama squad
“Natural ability to make people follow him.” Hell yeah. One of the reasons I love Luffy. He affects the world around him without even trying nor caring. You’ll see a lot more of that going forward.
One Piece feels like: Imagine if a pirate story is focused around characters searching for freedom in a grimdark/dystopian world and it's written by Terry Pratchett.
To be honest, it's better that way, if the same happens next time, she'll whoopsy-daisy her way to the natural stopping point before doing her top 10. Or maybe top 20 by the time she gets there.
Merphy: puts on tin foil hat trying to figure oda plans Me: this is an almost fruitless endeavor as few have succeed. Not only is it like playing 5d chess without the rules, he's a cheater and his most annoying trait is his patience to wait years to actual decades to give you the context for past events to make sense. Also me every week: ha you may have fooled me a thousand times but ill really think I figured it out this time.... probably... damn fooled again
"If Marineford is also ridiculously fast paced you might see review from me in a week" Merphy you;re going to read it all in one sitting. I can guarantee
I’ve believed this for a long time. The gag with Buggy is that he always fails up, so after Kaido and Big Mom are out after Wano, Buggy will become a yonkou…and then pirate king after Luffy and Teach do whatever the endgame stuff is after LaughTale.
As short as this arc was, this is honestly one of my favorites, the absolute nonstop chaos and entertainment, the pacing and the constant bombardment of twists and turns was so incredibly fun to read
Hello Merphy, I can already see some sly/sneaky comments on both your patreon and here on YT that are clearly mild spoilers. People just can not help themselves. Don't get spoiled.
Even after over a decade and MANY rereads, Impel Down is probably still my favorite arc. It feels so unique and really showcases the best aspects, especially how well Oda incorporates past characters back into the story in ways that feel perfectly natural and logical.
Oh man I can’t wait for your review of Marineford, I’m ready for that to be a 3 hour video. Also with your theory of Buggy becoming pirate king you have truly become a One Piece fan and I love it
Theres two great Luffy moments in this arc (or 1 moment since it ties together) of how Luffy saves Bon Clay from the wolves, even though he's basically dead himself and how he asked Iva to save Bon Clay first because he got hurt helping Luffy. Food for thoughts for top 10? :3
Fun fact: This was the only arc where Oda gives Luffy thought bubbles because Luffy usually just says what he thinks, but even he knew he had to be sneaky in this arc. Edit: “Thought bubbles” but for whispering
Actually, luffy is whispering to himself (that's how it was in the anime too). It's showns a lot early on, from when Luffy & Hancock enter Impel down, 525 to 529, that that the typical thought bubbles were being used for whispering: luffy to Hancock, prisoners to luffy, etc. As to make it clear, Oda used his other style for people's thoughts throughout the arc: text not wriiten in a speech bubble or inside the sun speech bubbles. Edit: the shift comes in 523, when the kuja pirates see off Boa & Luffy, that time Oda puts a little 'whsp' there, then he's doesn't afterwards. Hope this helped.

Man we miss so much humor because of the language barrier. My favorite is with Marco who's basically a pun with the pineapple and phoenix lmao.
あいしている/ありがとう はんこく/こんやく
I feel like these aren't really that close though... like it's not "carriage -> marriage" it's "cartridge -> marriage" no one is mistaking the differences. 愛している and ありがとう literally just start with the same sound. Does she freak out every time luffy says something that starts with あ?
@@Slink1701
Hancock didn’t hear Luffy when he said arigato, she only interpreted his mouth movements from afar.
Try to say arigato and ai shiteru, and focus on your mouth movements, or just look at yourself in the mirror while doing it. They are very similar and since Boa was already misinterpreting everything it is even more understandable that she thought Luffy worded ai shiteru.

Another GODA moment hahaha its such a small detail that you can read the series 5 times over and never notice where Luffy got that from lol
Another such example is sharp eyed reader might have noticed that Nami's sister Nojiko is wearing a bracelet through out Arlong Park arc. At the end of the arc, Nojiko no longer has the bracelet and Nami is wearing it now.

That's the reason i love him
I live blackbeard because he's a really contrastive (?) character, on the one hand he's a long thinking schemer, charismatic, and powerful as a fighter, but he's also an opportunist, a coward, and shows weakness when he is surprised by the circumstances

Hannyabal's defiant, hopeless last stand against Luffy is one of the most underrated moments in the arc (or series?) imho

Yakuza gang family leader is the first son
Alot of the fan translations have it as "Jinbei, Knight of the Sea" and I always thought that whole name was better than "Jimbei, First Son of the Sea."
@@Silviremon That is quite fitting for Jimbei, but still doesn't on its own explain why they'd translate something totally different as that. The Japanese is 海侠 ("Kaikyo") - the first kanji is sea, the second is chivalry (or tomboy, though we can probably rule that out as the use).
Aosha
That’s now put the image of a Tomboy Jimbei GF.

To me watching this for the first time, Luff free them because the already were punish enough, and they could be redeem able. In a way he gave those people a second chances. Some took that, and prove themselves others did not. Jimba was there wrongfully, and so where other's, in the system, proving that the system in one pice can be just as wrong as the characters.
Pirates ain't got time to be holding personal grudges. They live in the now, so as long as they can work together now, it's all good!

She doesn't like Bon Clay, uhh the slander.
Whenever Merphy mentions something that is wrong, but I can't recall if that is because she has forgotten something, or it's something that she simply has not been told in the story yet, so I don't dare correct it O.o
Same! It's stressing me out 😅
Maybe it's something we all thought at the time. And still feel deeply ashamed about it even if we had literally no reason to think otherwise when the chapters were just coming out.
Ik exactly what ya thinking, and that shall get fixed at the start of next arc because sengoku says that information :P
@@Gordan0chomsky Please delete your comment dude. It's a super simple word, but this could be a spoiler.
Wow, I never quite realized the dichotomy. 😲
oh man, if she does a top 10 moments BEFORE Marineford, she's gonna have to do another one after just to see the differences
More OP videos for us 😂
Love your Estelle profile pic. She’s in my top 5 video game protagonists of all time. 😎
In the defense of Garp, this is a brutal, brutal world. He trained his grandsons well.
I really LOVE Garp 😍
Also, the fact that will only be revealed later in the next arc that I don't want to spoil.
i love luffy's flash back of being thrown into the wilderness. It has such a Hehachi and Kazuya vibe.
If i think about, for example luffy broke character like once up to this point, when he attacked Zoro on Whiskey Peak
Is it a spoiler to say he will not break character a single time after that point? I think not
Blackbeard was after luffy because he needed someone with a 100million bounty or higher to make him a warlord. When Ace caught up with Blackbeard, Blackbeard wanted Ace in his crew but because Ace refused and wanted Blackbeard for betraying the whitebeatd crew. Blackbeard used ace instead of Luffy as an offering to the world government to become a warlord.
Iva is leader of the hidden society of prisoners in Impel Down, not the overall Revolutionary Army. Tho he is a high ranking official within it
Yep he is just a leader of the army, not the leader, thats luffys dad. Which shows a bit that dragon too has a zany sense of humor probably in private. Ivankov is the leader of the okama squad
Tinfoil hat prediction: We WILL see another arc review next week. 😏😏
Reeeeeeeeach
on point
“Natural ability to make people follow him.”
Hell yeah.
Fantastic description
That's SIR Terry Pratchet to you, you knave
@@rerouting LOL, my bad.
Oh my god!!! oh my god!!! yes that’s the description I will be using from now on 🤣🤣🤣

Merphy last week: won't do an arc review, Gon be busy
Me remembers impel down was next: ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?
Merphy this week: I was not sure
Merphy: Next week might just be a top ten favorite moments instead of the next arc.
Merphy next week: ... except they're all in this arc. 🤦♀️
To be honest, it's better that way, if the same happens next time, she'll whoopsy-daisy her way to the natural stopping point before doing her top 10. Or maybe top 20 by the time she gets there.
Merphy: "If Marineford is as fast as Impel Down, then maybe."
>3
Merphy: "Unless it's super dense, then I may take my time"
I love Blackbeard so much. He comes off as such a goofy guy when he is really a master planner who has plans on top of plans on top of plans.
I just love how Luffyesque your reviews are: kills people for fun-guy, stupid swan guy, wax guy, etc.
Screw the names, just like Luffy.
Blackbeard is one of the most dynamic characters I have ever read
But he is truly terrifying
Merphy: puts on tin foil hat trying to figure oda plans
Me: this is an almost fruitless endeavor as few have succeed.
I read somewhere that oda purposely tries to go against fan theories
@@geekbro6265 I think Oda just doesn't want the ending of One Piece to be guess by the fans.
@@geekbro6265 yup if fans figure out something he tries to find another solution. Cheater lol
"If Marineford is also ridiculously fast paced you might see review from me in a week"
Merphy you;re going to read it all in one sitting. I can guarantee
I just started and finished it this afternoon. My shirt is still wet and my heart is still hurting. Most epic stuff dude
Merphy: "Buggy will be the pirate king."
Me: "Oda wouldn't do that to us. That's way to dumb . . . oh. Oh no."
She said that, and I felt the same, is a very Oda move xD
Buggy D Clown ftw😎🔥
Omg I'm scared now 🤣
He's gonna be a yonko I really think ofs would do that
I’ve believed this for a long time.
Bon Clay is one of the best characters in the series. If I had just one friend like him I would be a lucky guy.
For his df powers or his character
Are you a friend like him?
Hello Merphy, I can already see some sly/sneaky comments on both your patreon and here on YT that are clearly mild spoilers. People just can not help themselves. Don't get spoiled.
What are some examples of them because I might be one of these culprits as well
People think they're so clever with them too
I hope she is 2-3 arcs ahead of video she puts
I mean the last video she mentioned she was in the middle of Impel Down so I assume she is already in the middle of the next arc.
@@PortgasDAce-jo3tu When the Amazon Lily video was posted, she said she was halfway through Impel Down in the comments so no
Buggy's Voice Actor deserve an Oscar btw. You should watch the anime too.
When you love that Merph loves OP … watching somebody fall in love with something you love is a really cool feeling
Fun Fact: Jinbe was referenced all the way back in Arlong Park, actually just before it when Sanji & Luffy were heading there.
When I was rewatching I noticed that. It’s crazy how early he was mentioned
Also with your theory of Buggy becoming pirate king you have truly become a One Piece fan and I love it
I love Fridays. I wake up, read the (unofficial) latest chapter of One Piece and then after that I have an amazing long one piece video to watch
Same
exactlyyyy
SAME
Exactly what I did today
thats also my routine fow past couple weeks :D
I can't wait till she puts out the marineford review
Theres two great Luffy moments in this arc (or 1 moment since it ties together) of how Luffy saves Bon Clay from the wolves, even though he's basically dead himself and how he asked Iva to save Bon Clay first because he got hurt helping Luffy.
Food for thoughts for top 10? :3
Fun fact: This was the only arc where Oda gives Luffy thought bubbles because Luffy usually just says what he thinks, but even he knew he had to be sneaky in this arc.
Edit: “Thought bubbles” but for whispering
Oh I actually didn't notice that
you want to tell me for ALL of the arcs before there wasn't a single Luffy thought bubble? that's insane, i never noticed that
Actually, luffy is whispering to himself (that's how it was in the anime too).
@@ajdoku865 In chapter 526 he was alone and we could see thought bubbles. Pretty sure the anime just changed it to be easier for the audience to hear.
Sagie Kaharizi Oda has never given Luffy any internal thoughts. Nope. Deliberate choice.

@@lily9563 Franky had his balls crushed by Robin and it wasn't taken that seriously
@@kaliquis01010 Yeah bro, because his balls were being, as you said, CRUSHED. He was the one walking naked around there.
And no, I don't think Robin has the right to grab his balls just because of that, it's just two different weights, two different measures.
@@lily9563 Is it really though? He just showed off his "own body" technically. If someone were to wear a mask of another person and wore some sort of body suit to make themselves resemble another - it's not exposing the other person's body.
