Richard Marx is a musical genius himself, yet for him to play the piano and not sing says so much about him and the respect he has for John, what a beautiful song and performance, thank you mate, your channel is going from strength to strength
Richard Marx is a famous American singer/songwriter/musician. I just watched him in John’s 25th Anniversary Special. I finally understood why John’s career stopped. He did a lot of musical theatre and no one wanted to hear him sing anymore. Richard Marx lived in LA and his Dad had a satellite dish so he was playing with his radio and he found an Australia radio station with John singing You’re The Voice. He said his face looked like it did when he first saw Elvis as a child. He went to every record shop in LA and no one had that album but one store would order it for him. It was the Whispering Jack album that gave John back to us. As you can see Richard came to see him. He said the best all time singer was Sam Cooke but the best singer alive is John Farnham. You should watch that video just for yourself, it explains so much and there is a lot of sad and happy in it. John had been onstage for 25 years and only made money in the last five years, back then. John and three members of his team each wrote a verse in Burn For You when they were touring Europe. It is about how they felt leaving their wives behind and how many time the wives hung up the phone because the wives wanted them home. It was how they felt being there without them. I didn’t know that and I love him more for it. Thank you.
That's our boy Hollywood had offered him so much in a America but turned everything down he loves his country and poeple so much and still wanted to keep his freedom and sanity love U John and family❤❤😂🇦🇺🇦🇺👍

Dude you have given me a new appreciation for the extraordinary talents of John Farnham. I grew up listening to this man but never fully comprehended the rare gift he was and is. Thank you!
Richard Marx credits John with changing his musical career. He said in an interview that he was at his parents house and tapped into a music program in Australia via satellite and was gobsmacked with Johns voice. The only other person who effected him like that was Elvis. He said John was a chameleon who can sing anything. He wrote songs especially for Johns vocal range. I can’t wait Nick for you to get a request for Hearts on Fire when he sings up to C5. You will go nuts!
I saw that interview, Richard stumbled across John singing "The Voice" (I think), then said John had the best voice of anyone alive, also mentioned best singer who was no longer with us (can't remember who that was), great interview!
Richard Marx came across John Farnham years ago when he first heard him sing You're The Voice. He was blown away and said it was like when he first saw Elvis on television. Richard is an American singer with his own hits and also an incredible song writer. He's written songs for John and they are great friends. You know what? you're right, this was perfect.
I saw an interview with Richard Marx once. He said “I think Sam Cooke is the greatest singer who ever lived. John Farnham is the greatest singer alive”
Quote from Richard Marx after hearing John Farnham sing "You're The Voice" for the first time. "I became obsessed with John Farnham. I think Sam Cooke is the greatest singer who ever lived. I think John Farnham is the greatest singer alive!” Pretty high praise from an amazing singer, song writer! Richard was and is a huge star in his own right. Look him up, you won't be disappointed.

Much of John's delivery comes from having done Musical Theatre "Pippin", "JC Superstar", and others... Not only empowering his stage presence and making him give meaning to the lyrics, but enhancing his projection. 1974, when he did Pippin, there were no personal mics, or even any pick ups! You had to project your voice over the ensemble, over the orchestra in the pit, and bounce it off the back wall! I've even been to a concert where his mic dropped out and we could still hear him over his band! When he shouts at us off mic during his concerts we can hear him clearly in the back row! THAT is a performer!
It's amazing how he keeps his singing under control with the microphone with bringing it in and then moving out away at different times so we're not just getting too loud or two soft , he knows exactly when this should happen

For years here in Australia, John was labeled “Australia’s Favourite Son in Law”. Everyone here loves him. He recently battled cancer in his jaw, and had jaw surgery. Thankfully he is recovering well, and is recording the audio for his book. He also celebrated his son’s wedding earlier this year. Even if he never sings again, we will keep loving him for generations to come. Richard Marx is not just an amazing pianist, but a great singer too, with impressive vocal skills. Aussies have always respected Richard, and America can be very proud of his talent
I've introduced a lot of my American friends to John Farnham and have even wound up buying a LOT of merchandise from his concerts to send to them as gifts. They're crazy about him! Not as crazy as me, though. hahaha

I love how much you love Our John Farnham and seeing the joy on your face. We’ve been lucky to have had him for so long here in OZ but I wish his music was over in the States when he first became really famous here. I went to one of his concerts about 10 years ago.
Lol Just love your passion in your reactions Yep everyone back in the day wanted to sing with John Exept for a few who thought they were better but didn't want to get shown up by him live in concert lol.
I haven't gotten past 12:16 - 12:19 because I just LOVE your reaction there!I've rewatched it countless times already!!! hahaha. I just love your reaction to him.
Im glad youve found John, its reminded me how great he is. I grew up with him so it became background noise. Its nice to relive some of it and see you enjoy it too✌️
I never hated on him, but I grew up with him on the radio every day on a middle of the road pop music radio station. I always thought of him as a middle of the road pop singer. It has taken your analysis, and stopping and replaying sections of him singing, to finally hear that he's more than an average singer. I can finally hear his towering musical talent. And every now and then I STILL can't hear Farnham as anything more than average. Obviously I have been spoiled. Edit: I had the exact same relationship with Barnsey as a rock singer until you came along and taught me to appreciate what I took for granted.
Richard is an extroadinarily gifted American Musician. He is a brilliant writer, plays many instruments, and can sing beautifully. He was quite taken in by Johns voice just like you have and actually written this song just for him.
"He doesnt have an accent" hahaha Yes he does! he has an American accent lol. He may be from the US but Richard Marx has been very popular in Australia for a long time.
Many, many singers struggle to generate that sort of vocal power and stay in tune, John on the other hand works very hard to reign it in and not let it get out of hand, Richard Marx is a very gifted American singer/musician, I'm a big fan of his too.
ARIA = ‘Ah-ree-uh’ His long-term first-and-only marriage (1973) to Jill, I’d like to think, is the inspiration for lyrics and the ‘eyes-closed’ emotion he puts into his singing of songs like this!! 🙏🏼❤️🔥 Albeit with its challenges, they seem to genuinely get along really well!!
Richard Marx from the start of his career has praised John farnham as the GOAT

I didn't realise that you haven't covered Richard Marx yet!! Huge around the world especially in the 80s and 90s. Fantastic American song writer and his voice brings me to tears....
You know I love all your reactions to my favorite, John!❤ You also need to check out Richard Marx! He's American! He's still performing, touring & writing. He's had numerous hits of his own & for other artists & sold over 30 million albums!🤩 "Hold on to the Night" & "Right Here Waiting" are 2 of my favorites!😁 The audio & video are incredible on this live version: ua-cam.com/video/kzAczKAryE0/v-deo.html
I love how much you love Our John Farnham and seeing the joy on your face. We’ve been lucky to have had him for so long here in OZ but I wish his music was over in the States when he first became really famous here. I went to one of his concerts about 10 years ago.
I love this song ❤ it describes how I feel about my beautiful boy. John sings it so 😍
Lol
Just love your passion in your reactions
Yep everyone back in the day wanted to sing with John
Exept for a few who thought they were better but didn't want to get shown up by him live in concert lol.
Beautiful song and performance watched it a few times love your reactions
My God he is sublime.
my wedding song :) and used to sing it to my twin babies
Love these two guys on stage Richards and Johns voices are two of the best I’ve ever heard. Richard Marx also has many great hits
Love your priceless reactions thank you for making me smile 🙂
Lol, I love how you always threaten violence whenever there's a moment that surprises you.
He is so incredible. Brings tears to my eyes.
Same here♥️
I haven't gotten past 12:16 - 12:19 because I just LOVE your reaction there!I've rewatched it countless times already!!! hahaha. I just love your reaction to him.
Im glad youve found John, its reminded me how great he is. I grew up with him so it became background noise. Its nice to relive some of it and see you enjoy it too✌️
You crack me up. Making me literally LOL during my whole bus ride
to work. A lot of strange looks at me, but I don't care haha
Another wonderful performance by John. Thanks for this I had not seen this, heard the song many times but not seen. 🥰🎼🎵
Please please PLEASE do a reaction to John’s version of “When the War is Over”. You won’t be disappointed. Love your channel ❤️
I love Farnsy too have seen him in concert...perfection and a great bloke too 🥰 love from Australia 🇦🇺
Richard is an extroadinarily gifted American Musician. He is a brilliant writer, plays many instruments, and can sing beautifully. He was quite taken in by Johns voice just like you have and actually written this song just for him.
Richard Marx music, Phil buckle lyrics.
I sincerely hope that Farnesy sees this some time :)
Chains around my heart is a Richard Marx song that John Farnham covers. Powerful and tricky to sing.
"He doesnt have an accent" hahaha Yes he does! he has an American accent lol.
He may be from the US but Richard Marx has been very popular in Australia for a long time.
He’s Canadian
@@thechoshow12 he is from Chicago
I just found a new lullaby for my kidlet. 😍
Lifted up by angels will tear you up its beautiful
He sings Right Here Waiting For You
"I will pull up in Australia" lmaooooooooo. I love Richard Marx, you must've heard Right Here Waiting? A great song!
It makes me mad as well. He should have been global. You guys missed out on so much 🥺
That was John's choice.
Many, many singers struggle to generate that sort of vocal power and stay in tune, John on the other hand works very hard to reign it in and not let it get out of hand, Richard Marx is a very gifted American singer/musician, I'm a big fan of his too.
ARIA = ‘Ah-ree-uh’
His long-term first-and-only marriage (1973) to Jill, I’d like to think, is the inspiration for lyrics and the ‘eyes-closed’ emotion he puts into his singing of songs like this!! 🙏🏼❤️🔥
Albeit with its challenges, they seem to genuinely get along really well!!
