Listen to Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa - Stone Cold, and John Farnham - Help, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Both are amazing vocal renditions. Jimmy Barnes used to be in a very famous Australian band called, Cold Chisel. John has always been a solo artist, but has done many colabs with other artists over the years. He is affectionally called...'The Voice', here in Australia, which is self explanatory. Both are amazing artists, and are equally famous here in Oz and New Zealand. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is both John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes....you're welcome......
@@jackiebarry9328 yes...and he was much energy for their easy listening ears, and it eventually didn't work out. But, they made some good music whilst together.
Quick background: John Farnham has mostly been a solo artist, but was in Little River Band for a few years in the '80s, and did handful of concerts with Queen about 20-25 years back. Jimmy Barnes was a founding member of Cold Chisel, an Australian band from Adelaide, but went on to do more solo works after a bunch of epic albums. Mark Lizotte was the guitarist and lead singer of the group Johnny Diesel and the Injectors, but people mistook his name for being Diesel, so that's basically become his stage name. and Jimmy and Diesel are related or in-laws or something.
Jimmy has 2 albums of Soul classics- Soul Deep and Soul Deeper, check them out. John is known in Australia as "The Voice" and is our Freddie Mercury. For some more Aussies doing soul etc check out Human Nature - a 4 Man Pop /vocal group that have albums called reach Out: The Motown Record, Dancing in the Street: The songs of Motown 2
Great reaction!! Australians love Barnies (Jimmy Barnes) and Farnsey (John Farnham). Both are brilliant individual singers and national treasures. At the moment Aussie's are all wishing Farnsey a full recovery after recent surgery.

Try John Farnham in concert. With the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra especially. His cover of Help owned the original by The Beatles. John's on original content like You're The Voice, his Melbourne concert will grab you. He's in his 70's now and still belts a tune when he comes out for particular events.
Jimmy & John are both extremely successful solo artists, and have never been in a band together. Jimmy is also the lead singer of an Australian rock band called Cold Chisel. This track is off Jimmy's album Soul Deep, which is 30 yrs old this year & has just been re-released with a couple of extra tracks. The album is a bunch of Jimmy's favourite soul tracks covered, & this is a cover of the old Sam & Dave track. And as someone else mentioned, the USA wasn't kind to Aussie artists in the 80's.
Oh my goodness I loved this! I can’t wait to watch you react to more music from Australia!!!! In my opinion Jimmy and John are 2 of the greatest vocalist ever. Welcome down the rabbit hole of Aussie music. Most Australian artists don’t make it in the USA, im not sure why???
Jimmy was in a band called Cold Chisel. Big band in Australia in the 70s early 80s. He was the lead singer but he did share the role with Ian Moss who is another big voice! John is an amazing solo artist but was the lead singer of the Little River band for a short time! These guys are national treasures. We just love them 💖🇦🇺🦘
I remember him as a teen with his band and he always sang with this gruff and rasp in his voice. I remember John Farnham when he was 17 and made his debut on TV. They are Australian icons and dearly loved by Aussies.

This is two mates collaborating. Bloody brilliant! 🇦🇺 Totally agree with Get Real…you have to see John Farnham live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra doing ‘Help’…👌 The guitarist is Jimmy’s Brother in Law.
Jimmy & John are fantastic singers, with Jimmy either as a solo or with the band Cold Chisel. John, on the other had has a unbelievable vocal range and has been admired by many International artists including Freddie Mercury, Celine Dion & Tom Jones. The reason behind John not going International is that he didn't want to be away from his family and this shows in the words of some of his songs being about loneliness whist being on the road. I suggest that you also look at "Playing To Win" with the MSO.....Great reaction, by the way🇦🇺👍

@@CVTECK1 honestly, Jimmy hasn’t lost any of the power in his voice and live, John’s voice doesn’t really need an accompaniment, it’s just that good. You need to watch the music video You're the Voice by John Farnham, and then watch that song being sung in concert with the Melbourne Symphony orchestra. It is spine tingling good.
Really Great review. Both brilliant. Jimmy’s daughter is an amazing soul singer, ‘Mahalia Barnes singing - Riding With The Kings - with American guitarist Joe Bonamassa’ - it’s soul heaven for me. All Jimmy’s children, grandchildren sing or play musical instruments. Oh and his wonderful wife Jane sings and she plays guitar - an amazing talented, beautiful family. As for our John Farnham, I bet everyone here has told you about him. We love admire and respect him, and are so proud of John here in Aus 😊
Australia has a LOT of music artists that are severely underrated on the world stage; I'm not really sure why it is. You should check out Guy Sebastian Battle Scars, specifically the version for Anzac day/home front acoustic in the studio (you gotta check out this version as it really demonstrates his talent).
@@andymack75 Have you even heard the performance I was suggesting, or are you straight up dismissing it because you don't like Guy Sebastian? Because I am not a fan of Guy whatsoever and went into watching it the first time with a similar attitude to yours, but I can conceded to an amazing performance and talent when I see it, and that's exactly what it is. It's completely unlike anything else you've ever seen him do, trust me. Take a look at it first, THEN judge. Frankly I'm disappointed all his music isn't like this - it's a waste.
John has had a number 1 on the Australian charts in five decades. Please react to John singing Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He is even better live.
When you do Aussie artists, always go for live performances if you can. The emotion and rawness is sometimes blunted by production. Aussie performers have passed the test of being exceptional live before any local audience will follow them. That includes these two for sure. Great reaction!
Both are legends in Australia. Jimmy was originally born in Scotland and moved to Australia as a child. Both are also amazing live and I've been fortunate to see both many times.
Search for them singing this on Hey Hey it's Saturday... You'll be even more touched. I cry with pride seeing them. Praying for John whose just been through massive mouth cancer surgery and Jimmy who today is having hip and leg surgery. ✨🎶🎧❤️❤️🙏💐💐 Johnny Deisal playing guitar is a legend here too. This is a collaboration. Cold Chisel is a different beast. Where you will also hear the vocals and guitar talent to that is Ian Moss. Check out Bow River by Cold Chisel. You might just have another one to add to your play list.
This was a collaboration between Jimmy Barnes (check out Cold Chisel), John Farnham (The Voice - check out his version of Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra) and the amazing Mark Lizotte (a.k.a. Diesel - check out Come To Me and Right on the Tip of My Tongue). All three Australian legends and extremely successful artists in their own rights. Diesel is Jimmy's brother-in-law and for a while there quite possibly the most lusted after teenage Aussie girls' dream. All preferred to remain close with family and friends and rejected the trappings of the US music scene - all remain married to their beautiful and talented partners many decades later. Jimmy and his family started streaming a song a day during lock-down and are followed by millions. Please spare some positive energy for John who is currently battling cancer - until very recently he was still belting out the tunes with his magnificent powerful voice.
John sang with Little River Band for a few years( they were in residency in Vegas) Watch a jazz rendition of “ Reminiscing” you may know it. It’s a classic
John Farnham has been having hit records in Australia since his first one in 1967. He has helped SO many young Australian artists over the years. He is a genuine and down to earth person. One of my uncles has known him for years. Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer of a band called Cold Chisel and then went on to have an amazing independent career. Apparently they have been friends for years and it wasn't unusual for them to just show up at each other's concerts and just sing together.
If you are going to do music, you won't find much better than this. This is a collaboration of 2 of the best singers Aus has ever produced . Great mates but individual artists Jimmy and John are living legends. Soul overload with these two.and believe it or not, they sing even better live!

John Farnham married in 1971 & Jimmy met his wife in 1979. This song has a real element as they both say their wives are the most person in their lives. Plus their children. The guitarist, Mark, is the husband of Jimmy's wife & had a solo career. Jimmy does a great duet of THE BEST with Tina Turner. They may have done RIVER DEEP as a duet too. Wikipedia will give you basics on Jimmy & John
these two ausie boys have been doing this since they were both teenagers as individual artists, most of us here in Australia have grown up listening to their many hits . two of our best for 6 decades. heard a story that when this was filmed they were drinking real wiskey . and you would not hear about them as they are both artists from the 70's and 80's
Born in the 60's in Aussie spent my 20's and 30's seeing these guys LIVE. Jimmy with band Cold Chisel and John as a solo but he always had the same band and backups. Best 2 music decades of my life. And ditto to all previous suggestions.😀
Anything Jimmy, John or Diesel do is worth a listen - Also you should react to Jimmy ft Joe Bonamassa "Stone Cold' - Aussie Legend with a US blues guitar legend - Also if you like that gritty blues - another Aussie band which is so worth a listen - The Teskey Brothers - "Pain and Misery' is my favorite song of theirs.
The are both icons in their own right, this is one of their collaborations. John started his solo career in the late 60's while Jimmy began his career I the 70's and then went onto a solo career in the 80's.
Farnsey and Barnsey & Diesel (Mark Lizotte) Aussie legends. Best to watch John & Jimmy live. Any song you choose will be good but as others have suggested Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for John is my favourite song & performance of his. And you can't go past Bow River for Cold Chisel. I like the 2003 version at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. Like Cry in Shame for Diesel. And Sone Cold with Joe Bonamassa for Jimmy ... very soulful. His album Soul Deep has just been re-released. Great reaction mate. Lots of awesome Aussie music to react to, lots of real music.
Jimmy has just released a 30 year anniversary album for this album. John just tuned 73 and up to a couple years ago was still singing amazing. Both John and Jimmy’s voices have aged well. I seen your about to do Help with the MSO but I can also suggest Your the voice, from the same concert with MSO and 2 other seperate songs, angels with his banking singer Lisa and another song called burn for you. But as other have said, always do them live versions. The guitarist, diesel is a legend in his own right and another great singer. Check out cryin shame by him. 👍🏻🇦🇺
Yes I love that performance of Angels. Minimal instrumentation, he is joking around and then bang! Flicks the switch and hits those notes without any effort (ua-cam.com/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/v-deo.html).

John and Jimmy are great friends and have sang together several times but have never been in a band together, they are both legends in their own right.
Two Aussie icons. Plenty to check out with these guys and many others. No shortage of Aussie musical talent. Some had success in the US and elsewhere, such as Little River Band (original band), Peter Allen, The Bee Gees, Inxs, Divinyls and some others. Jimmy's from the band, Cold Chisel and John Farnham has been around since early 70s.
As an Australian and a music lover, your reaction makes my heart sing. You probably have a sense by now what legends these guys are in this country. So glad you've been introduced to them. The word is overused but in this case accurate - icons.
I've just discovered your channel. John and Jimmy of these men are legends in Aussie music and have been around since the 70's. Jimmy's band Cold Chisel went to the USA but were messed around by record companies so they came home and recorded You Got Nothin' I Want, a huge middle finger to the USA record executives. This song was written by Sam & Dave (American duo) in 1967. John and Jimmy have been friends for years and Diesel (the guitarist and singer) is famous compared to anyone else not in the room, and is Jimmy's brother in law. I have a mental picture of the men having fun at a party, they start singing this, and their wives send them into the home studio to record it.
Jimmy Barnes was the soul and John Farnham was the heart of Australian music.

I will say and I've said multiple times as much as social media is insert your opinion, the one truly good thing to come out of it is 1. Aussie music getting heard outside of our country so everyone can hear what we grew up on 2. AFL being seen by people outside Australia. No criticism on US music, sports or tv but its generally been one way traffic from the US to other countries. Finally thanks to platforms like this we get to show a little of what previously would struggle to even be known.
You got it girl :) I grew up with them :) Talent plus :) btw you're cute :) just to add lol
John Farnham has been around since the late 60,s from Australia along with Jimmy was the lead singer in the rock band Cold Chisel, both national treasures here in Australia.John is known as the Voice.Watch his live performances and you will know why.
John was with Little River Band for a while
@@jackiebarry9328 yes...and he was much energy for their easy listening ears, and it eventually didn't work out. But, they made some good music whilst together.
My most favourite clip ever. Nothing comes anywhere near it. Love love these 3 great men and entertainers. Aussies LOVE LOVE LOVE them.
Quick background:
John Farnham has mostly been a solo artist, but was in Little River Band for a few years in the '80s, and did handful of concerts with Queen about 20-25 years back.
Diesel and Jimmy's wives are sisters, so their brother-in-laws.
Prayers to John and his family but also Australia
Just a song together....2 of Australia's best ....ever.......
Two of Australia’s biggest talents, you will find yourself singing this for no reason at all it infectious
ALWAYS DO OZZ MUSIC LIVE THESE TWO ARE LEDGENDS IN OZZ BEEN GOING SINCE THE 70S WE GREW UP ON THEM AND OUR OTHER GREAT PUB BANDS, AC DC , MIDNIGHT OILS, MANY MANY OTHERS, OZZ MUSIC COMES FROM THE HEART AND USUALLY TELLS STORIES OF HOW WE FEEL, LATE 60S 70S AND EARLY 80S WERE THE BEST ERA FOR TALENTED MUSO'S PLAYED ALL THEIR OWN INTRUMENTS, NO FANCY TRICKS JUST PURE TALENT.
OZZ💚💛
These two Aussie legends are known as rock royalty here in Australia. 💕
I been asking the same question why these boys did not make it and why it took this long for me to even heard of them. They are Amazing!!!!!!!!!
We just love them 💖🇦🇺🦘
Such a fantastic song, and even better live! Great reaction, by the way!
It really is!
I remember him as a teen with his band and he always sang with this gruff and rasp in his voice. I remember John Farnham when he was 17 and made his debut on TV. They are Australian icons and dearly loved by Aussies.
Both Jimmy and John has an amazing voice
They got absolutely hammered making that video.
Towards the end they looked like they were having fun and their forehead even touched haaaaaaaaa
@@CVTECK1 in a recent interview jimmy tells how the shoot took about 5 hours and they replaced the fake bottles with real ones. At the end they packed John into a limousine and sent him on his way while Jimmy stayed to shoot a few extra bits and pieces. About half an hour later they got a call from the driver...John couldn't remember where he lived
Jimmy and John are probably the 2 best male singers in Australian history. They were once stage rivals now best of friends.
Try John Farnham singing Black Dog. Vocals amazing.
I also hope he reacts to that one
Yesssss mate. These 2 are like Gods to us in Australia. Its so refreshing to see people from other country's react and enjoy what we Aussie kids in the 90's grew up listening to
These songs mean more to us than our national anthem.
Like I said before the Australian Love hard so I understand what John Jimmy cold chisel mean to you guys. I think they are legends and prayers for John Farnham.
This is two mates collaborating. Bloody brilliant! 🇦🇺
Totally agree with Get Real…you have to see John Farnham live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra doing ‘Help’…👌
The guitarist is Jimmy’s Brother in Law.
I suggest that you also look at "Playing To Win" with the MSO.....Great reaction, by the way🇦🇺👍
Aretha Franklin was a big fan of John Farnham too. She said he has perfect pitch.
@@r.fairlie7186 That was something that I didn't know....thanks for the info👍
See, you’ve just stumbled upon Australia’s two iconic singers ever! John Farnham “Farnsey & Barnsey have amazing back catalogue of songs. John Farnham is the “VOICE of Australia! You should do Farnsey’s cover of Help with the Melbourne symphony orchestra! Also this song you did is ten times better when they sing it live! Trust me, live versions for these two amazing guys! IS a MUST!
I'll check it out! I have all the live stuff ready to go Jenny.
When the dude is freaking out about Barnsey before he hears Farnsey with Diesel bringing up the heat and you’re an Aussie waiting for the “WOW!” cos you know it only gets better! 😂😍👏🏼🥰
Yep 🇦🇺 ❤
John farnham You're the Voice was an international hit, but his Help with the melboune symphony orchestra is out of the stratosphere
John’s live version of the Beatle song HELP accompanied by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is a masterpiece. Also, check out AC/DC live at River Plate performing HIGHWAY TO HELL and THUNDERSTRUCK …
I keep seeing people saying the live stuff is the best.
@@CVTECK1 honestly, Jimmy hasn’t lost any of the power in his voice and live, John’s voice doesn’t really need an accompaniment, it’s just that good. Oh, and shout out to his backing singers who were perfect for him. If you want to hear something powerful with a great beat, listen to NEVER LET ME GO by The Black Sorrows which is a must on my playlist and just might make it onto yours.
Both these guys are in my top 5. Amazing music.
We might rank Australia musician live on my channel one of these days just to have fun. It won't be easy and I might get yelled at too
They’re Aussie legends and great mates, the guitarist is Diesal and he’s Jimmys brother in law ❤
Australia has a LOT of music artists that are severely underrated on the world stage; I'm not really sure why it is. You should check out Guy Sebastian Battle Scars, specifically the version for Anzac day/home front acoustic in the studio (you gotta check out this version as it really demonstrates his talent).
So many great Aussie music artists, and you suggest Guy Sebastian?? The guy from Pop Idol?? Please.....
Thanks for loving our Aussie legends 💖🤘
John has had a number 1 on the Australian charts in five decades. Please react to John singing Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. He is even better live.
Actually 6 decades if you include 2015 and 2016 albums with ONJ
@@carolynh8866 thanks Carolyn. I am a big fan of Johns. Been to a few of his concerts.
@@micheleallen me too Michelle.
To listen to HELP is a MUST!!!!!!!!!!
You need to react to the live version, it's fantastic!
They are awesome singers, so different but amazing 😎
He's Jimmy's brother in law. 👌😀❤️
will do
This is a collaboration. Cold Chisel is a different beast. Where you will also hear the vocals and guitar talent to that is Ian Moss. Check out Bow River by Cold Chisel. You might just have another one to add to your play list.
scots/ aussies I believe, no wonder its soulful
LOVE. Thankyou. 2 of the best male singers on the planet from good ol Oz, John Farnham Live with MSO Help is amazing x
John sang with Little River Band for a few years( they were in residency in Vegas) Watch a jazz rendition of “ Reminiscing” you may know it. It’s a classic
Ohh yeah Jimmy and John are Aussie legends… we are so proud of them!!!
I am to JO. I LOVE IT.
Tthis guy is the best guitarist to ever pick up a guitar in Australia proberly the world in 70s....80s
If you are going to do music, you won't find much better than this. This is a collaboration of 2 of the best singers Aus has ever produced . Great mates but individual artists Jimmy and John are living legends. Soul overload with these two.and believe it or not, they sing even better live!
I Agreeeeeeeeeeeee 10000000000% Amazing voice and John surprised me my god.
@@CVTECK1 they are most famous in Australia and also in Europe. The both tried the US but Both are big family men and preferred to stay close to home in Australia. John was lead singer in Little River Band for a few years and toured US a bit in the 80's. But he hated it. Jimmy toured the US with his band Cold Chisel but had issues with the US wanting to change them too much.
If you want to hear more. Check out John singing HELP. Live with th3 Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. And Cold Chisel doing Wild Thing (last stand tour)
@@carolynh8866 That boggles my mind that anyone would try to change any 1 of those men's voice or style. with one listen you can just tell and feel how good they are.
Jimmy Barnes band Cold Chisel is Aussie Rock royalty
I have some things saved up and need to watch then video coming soon. thank you!!!
They are both super famous in Australia. Love your reaction. So pure. 🥰
Oh thank you mate! I love the music and so happy to discoverer it.
100% true they were actually drunk as skunks when this was filmed. Haha
John is the GOAT. At 70+ he can still belt it out.
This is so good. And almost ancient. We've had it great down here with music for years.
I hope you enjoy it Adrian because i am and its only been few days of Jimmy and John.
Born in the 60's in Aussie spent my 20's and 30's seeing these guys LIVE. Jimmy with band Cold Chisel and John as a solo but he always had the same band and backups. Best 2 music decades of my life. And ditto to all previous suggestions.😀
With all the people reacting to this song it’s gonna go no.1
The biggest three Aussie legends! Love it💜💜
Anything Jimmy, John or Diesel do is worth a listen - Also you should react to Jimmy ft Joe Bonamassa "Stone Cold' - Aussie Legend with a US blues guitar legend - Also if you like that gritty blues - another Aussie band which is so worth a listen - The Teskey Brothers - "Pain and Misery' is my favorite song of theirs.
Yes Mary i sure will. everyone said the live stuff is better to react to.
The best live version of this is from Mommy's "Soul Deep" concert, and the highlight is the acapella with all three at the end.
Jimmy's Welsh born, but we've adopted him. He's ours now, just like John's English, but he's ours too.
I'm just having fun listening you can still keep them mate haaaa.
I think the Scots may beg to differ! Jimmy's accent is not Welsh...close...but...
Mates , different musicians but good friends for sure
I would love to see you listen to them sing this live.. John farnham live is something else!!!
It's on the list and i can't wait to watch them all
Jimmy has just released a 30 year anniversary album for this album.
A couple of legends right there. Still listening to this in 2022. Great collab btw these two and of course who could forget Diesel chiming in with the guitar solo. Huge in Australia / NZ but not much love anywhere else in the world, until now.
John and Jimmy are Aussie legends! BUT you MUST MUST MUST listen to John LIVE! He’s better live! I’m others have recommended a few but check out Help, when the war is over, Georgia, Black Dog and MANY others with John singing live and you’ll be blown away.
Check out the Live performance of this song it kills this one. Loved you're reaction. John Farnham Help live with the Melbourne symphony orchestra is Awesome.
Cant forget johnny diesel on guitar
My duet with these two. They both sing with such depth and feeling. This sing is off jimmy’s soul deep album, he toured off this and he and John did this live and man it was so beautiful
Fire 🔥
John and Jimmy are great friends and have sang together several times but have never been in a band together, they are both legends in their own right.
You’ll cry yourself to sleep when you hear them live!! 🏴
Oh Oh music gets me so if i cry i will edit it out lol.
Have a look at John that’s what love will do. The band is insane
You should watch the live version of this song. They are legends in Australia. You must watch Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa in Stone Cold.
it's on my list
Ohh Mate, im Aussie girl and you haven't heard anything yet, please keep listening to these treasures of ours, together and on their own. 💯🇦🇺
I just love John and Jimmy
Always react to our legends live so much better. Look up Cold Chisel Bow River live, John Farnham help live with the MSO
Will do Phillips its on the list.
