I really appreciate the fact that this guy refused to ride the camels because of the daily abuse these animals endure.. the condition of some of these camels and horses is horrific! I've watched a lot of these pyramid videos and I've seen horses pulling carts that are completely lame, there pain was obvious as they pulled a cart full of tourists up the hill.. they use horse blankets under the saddles to hide the fact that these horses are horribly under weight! The blankets cover there exposed rib cage. Some of the horses I saw were at least 150lbs under weight. The condition of the camels is just as bad, these animals scream in pain as there being forced to there knees. Camels spend most of their lives standing, their bodies are not made to be going up and down on their knees all day so tourists can ride them. If you watch these videos you can see the camels resisting and crying in pain when there being pulled to the ground ... so I appreciate this guy for refusing to ride these animals.
Impossible to enjoy when your time in Egypt ruined by the constant barrage of scammers. I will never go back there. Can't even browse in a shop without someone assigned to constantly bombed you with "you buy this, what about this, best quality, you buy, you buy" On our last day we had another guided tour, I decided to stay in the coach. Just overwhelmingly horrible. I've travelled throughout Asia and never had this much of an issue.
How awesome would it be if a group of tourists surrounded one of these guys and just started asking questions and talking over him, forcing HIM to be the one to get frustrated and walk away?
The problem here is that he is talking to them. When u open your mouth they think they have you and won't give up. The more you talk the more your digging your own grave trust me. I was there last week - visited the pyramids on an impulse (without preparation) - got completely hosed. You do not need the animals or the nuisance "tour guide". It is only 2.8 kms from the parking lot at the entrance to the panoramic point of the pyramids - Google maps show you the route - a comfortable walk of 36 minutes. The Sphinx and most of the other things are close to the Great Pyramid. Two hours on foot should give you enough time to see the entire site. The price for the abused animals vary wildly (I paid 1500 pounds for the full monty tour). At the end, the "guide" will tell you that the price does not include a tip for him and he will pester you mercilessly for a large tip. Plus they will try to lead you off the site to a shop they call the "Papyrus Museum" - more usury. Do a self-guided tour and avoid all these hucksters - and watch your valuables. Take a hat and water as well.

yeah ... thats pretty much same everywhere. Being a Czech I always found it funny when travelling to Asia, Middle East, South America. The only way how can I afford such trips is that I just travel with shitty airlines with a backpack. Staying in cheap hotels and eating on the street. They are just doing it for the video... I'm sure most of these tourists know that they should walk away but these interactions make interesting video's. I've seen a lot of these video's and many of the people recording play along to capture the scam on camera.

When I got to Giza, I put on my headphones and sunglasses and walked straight ahead. I was bombarded by these guys trying to make money off me like following me to take a camel ride, or take my picture and selling me things. I ignored EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. I could not hear them because I was blasting my music very loud in my headphones and they could not see my eyes and they eventually ALL left me alone. The people I travelled me also followed my lead and they were left alone. Celebrities should also do the same thing with paparazzi. Your welcome.

Absolute number 1 tip is this. get yourself some earpods, some very loud music and put them on when you get close to the pyramids. It helps. thats all im going to say

The only 2 things to see there are the 3 pyramids and the museum. It can be done in one day. You can skip the tour guide and just get a hotel not far away from the pyramids, take a taxi to the two places and take off. Ask the Taxi Driver how much before you get in. You can get a tour guide, it's cheap but it's not necessary unless you want to go into the city. Might be best to have a guide if you do that. At the pyramids, do not talk to anyone who comes up to you. Avoid eye contact. He'll tell you he's with the police or some other nonsense, just walk away. At the pyramids, you have to buy 2 extra tickets to get into the two pyramids. At the museum you can take pictures, but you have to buy an extra ticket to do that because when you start taking pictures, security will come up you to make sure you have the permit ticket to do that.

It’s amazing how you spend all this money to go fly there, but you wouldn’t pay $5 for the locals who try to make ends meet. Don’t try to fool people with “not wanting to use the animals” or whatever… if that would truly be the case then you’d just give $5 to the poor local and tell him that he can keep the money and you don’t need the camel ride. If you truly CARED on ANIMALS, then you’d definitely care on HUMANS, and you’d definitely be be glad to spare 5 bucks to this poor human local tour guide.

It’s amazing how you spend all this money to go fly there, but you wouldn’t pay $5 for the locals who try to make ends meet. Don’t try to fool people with “not wanting to use the animals” or whatever… if that would truly be the case then you’d just give $5 to the poor local and tell him that he can keep the money and you don’t need the camel ride.
If you truly CARED on ANIMALS, then you’d definitely care on HUMANS, and you’d definitely be be glad to spare 5 bucks to this poor human local tour guide.

I fully agree, all these greedy youtubers make a lot of money on video's revealing these "scams", yet all these scams are about some services for 2$-5$, geez what kind of scam is that, they are just desperate as their currency is worth nothing. Who is the real scammer...
