Making Historic Ottoman Sword - Yatagan

In this video I made historic Ottoman sword from spring steel. For handle I used bubinga wood and brass.

Well, the sword you made is nice but it's a bit wider than usual. But it's nice to see somebody who makes historical weapons. Also, in Turkey we call it "yatağan" and it's "yeniçeri"s weapon.

@@MarekTabi Bye the way, Yatağan is technically not sword. İt is a long knife, of course technically. It was forbidden for everyone, including the Janissaries, to carry swords during peacetime in the Ottoman Empire. Knife was free to carry. In order to circumvent the ban, people carried long knives like Yatağan.

It's not jannisarry weapon. It's often used by bashibazouks. It's used at one by one close sword fights. And Also It's not a sword. It's produced machete type.

This is my favourite style of blade. I am hopelessly ignorant but love the beauty of swords and blades in general. There’s something about the curves of the yataghan that really hypnotises me. I do feel as though the point could be slightly more defined and the recurve at the cut as well. Amazing work and thanks for sharing!
