Really good tip video. If i was going to fish a tournament and had a chance to pre-fish, If i caught a fish i would take that lure and put it a separate small tackle case. Then try a different lure. Thats my idea.
Hey buddy how's you doing man? This was a great video man about getting ready For a fishing tournament. You nailed it right on the spot man Especially with the must have items for the tournament. I remember when me & my co-worker tried to fish our first tournament & they wouldn't let me fish because I showed up barefooted 👣 because I have to kayak barefooted 👣 because of how wide my feet 🦶 are. I told them that & they said sorry you couldn't fish the tournament barefooted 👣. I was a lil upset but my co worker was mad. But what really really made me mad at them was they stop me & asked me why was I driving barefooted 👣? That was None of their business & I told them that too. I haven't tried to do a tournament since. I know that this information is going to help someone else man. Very very Extremely good information man. I hope you have a good weekend buddy & thanks you for sharing this video buddy.
So I fished the Fishoff for the Knuklhed tournament as I did not qualify for one of the teams. Didn't make the cut. 😢 I went to the weigh-in knowing I did not make it and it was terrific meeting everyone, etc. I did not attend the next evening event, which was the championship weigh-in and dinner. It didn't feel right to attend as I did not make the cut to fish on championship day. But being there at the weigh-in on days you fished, absolutely go as that's a great part of participating in a tournament!
You could have came to that one if you wanted too. It was more of a get together. That is what Knuklhed is all about. You have next year buddy to try to qualify.

I used to show dogs. It was considered poor sportsmanship to not show up at the end of the day for the Best in Show judging. Especially if your breed was in the running. It’s definitely important to support those who are at the top of their game that day!
Another reason to show up at the "Weigh In"/ awards is for the Sponsors. Whether you win or lose support and promote the Sponsors so they continue to contribute.
I see a lot of folks have a sticker at the front of their ketch board where the fish’s mouth touches. Is a sticker a requirement? Does it just make it easier for the judges to see that the fish touched the board?
There is a few answers. Yes it can help the judges see fish’s mouth touch front of board. Sometimes sticker means it has been inspected for certain events. If you have the yellow Carbonite one you definitely don’t need it. The last sticker I have on there was from the inspection at Knuklhed event. Lastly sometimes it looks cool if you have a cool one.
Great thoughts on how to prepare for a tournament. I would add the iAngler tournament app as this is what Heroes on the Water use for their annual regional fundraiser tournament. Also concerning measuring boards some organizations still prefer the Hawg Trough. I fish in a club event on the Greenbrier River in West Virginia and this is the only board they allow. Also some clubs allow a mixture of boards from the Ketch, Hawg Trough, other boards along with homemade ones with a DNR or 123 Sticker attached. The LKA allows several boards for their events. I would suggest that if anglers are interested in participating in a tournament, they need to be familiar with those rules for that event. Great advice from you on how to participate in tournaments.
@DarrellOlson that’s a lot of good info. I am so use to the strict ones that only allow Ketch due to flex etc on the measuring boards. I didn’t want to go to long on the video. Next time.

Sounds like a plan. Good idea.

Thanks Dave.
Thanks Ryan! This was super helpful. Looking forward to a longer video soon 🤞🏼
I will work on it as I start my first tournament this year as an in the water video.

That sucked. It’s ok you are not really missing that much anyways. Better off just going out for fun. You have a good weekend as well.
I just saw your truck heading into work today, subbed.
I appreciate it brother!

Yes ma’am. Plus it’s another way to help the sport grow. The more people see the support of one another the more others will want to do it.

Very true! Great point.
