    It would be great if you could do a first tournament walkthrough. How the day stars, how the launch works, how weighin works, how long to expect to be on the water. Basically a good 10 to 15 min crash course on what to except when a person signs up to fish their first tournament.

    I went ahead and subbed. I've seen a few of your videos and they are really good.
    I am slowly upgrading my kayak.
    1.) I got a dock leash
    2.) Made my own kayak dolly
    3.) I added rod holders
    4.) I added a milk crate also with rod holders
    5.) Anchor and a net
    I don't have any electronics nor any type of motor and trolly motor.
    I know how to bass fish very well but I am practicing how to fish from my kayak.
    I also want to add stabilizers too.
    Edit: I want to only do local tournaments.

    60% is your pocket book,30% is knowledge and 10% is luck. The people with more money don’t need as much skill when they have the price of a decent kayak on electronics

    Thanks Chad. I’m about to finish my Rookie season this March and so far I haven’t had a single loss. This is because I have looked at each of my tournaments as stepping stones to fishing knowledge. I want to take a moment to thank everyone that has helped me along the way on this journey. Without you it wouldn’t have been as exciting of a journey or as much fun. It’s great to know that KBF members are always there helping teach newbies like me and everyone else out there on the water. It’s great having a family to count on.

    How do you know that the fish was caught that day and my buddy said he was having other buddies just bring them fish they were fishing in the boat and they were bringing the fish to the guy when the kayak how is any of this stuff monitored please do a video explaining kayak tournament rules I would think a GoPro should be running at all times like FLW in MLF and Bassmasters

    • @ChadHooverFishing
      @ChadHooverFishing  3 роки тому

      We have a unique identifier that they must have from the day of the event and it isn’t released until the night before. Having a camera running at all times isn’t practical at this time, but we also have polygraph clauses for bigger events and pooling fish is a lot harder than you think. We also have some safe guards built into the app that we don’t tell everyone so that they don’t know what they are and it makes it much, much, tougher to beat that way. We have tons of safeguards and systems in place.

    • @bigbassking9510
      @bigbassking9510 3 роки тому

      @@ChadHooverFishing so there is a safeguard from another guy just dropping off fish to his buddy at the kayak

    Great advice Chad... knowledge is power, and having the right gear to use when applying that knowledge is for sure the only way to go... add wisdom to that combination and luck becomes a smaller and smaller factor

    Chad- research is the key. Exactly right. Time spent looking over maps and other information is NEVER wasted. One thing I have noticed is guys get into the tournament scene and get frustrated when they don't knock it out of the park. It takes time. It's like fighting, on any given day, one fighter is better than another. Same goes with fisherman. We all know what we are doing. We just missed a cast by so much and didn't get that fish. I learned so much my first year of Tournament fishing. I agree confidence plays a big part and the local lake/club comment is a great suggestion. Tight Lines buddy, see you at the NC.

    Join your local kayak fishing club, should be your first step. This will give you the experience fishing with other anglers and fishing against other anglers in a more relaxed atmosphere. Once you have built your confidence, your knowledge, and skills where they need to be before you enter your first tournament , all of those pressures will be less intimidating. I do agree doing your homework on the area your getting ready to fish is a must.

    That was awesome (now that I’ve watched) I’ve been Collecting all of my research into Microsoft one note. I have electronica notebooks built up all the information concerning the fisheries I plan to hit for tournaments this year. It is an awesome tool because it syncs to the cloud, so you have it everywhere. And, you can literally print to it, drop pictures in it, type notes, draw, virtually everything!

    Chad,
    Allot of great advise having three straight days is a great way to tackle any body of water. Learning how to breakdown water is the biggest factor of #KayakFishing any event wither your a beginner or a seasoned #KayakAngler, the reality is even in a power boat no one can fish the entire body of water. Following the 60/30/10 #Rule is the way to go, Chad I'm always grateful for your content.
