Elias, you are a trusted opinion leader when it comes to fishing recommendations. You are honest and that is the most important reason to listen to you. That is the main reason I watch your channel. I can watch any number of fishing channels but it is your honesty and experience that makes you a regular to me and I believe to many others. Always a pleasure!
Thank you Elias. I really appreciate your low key approach and honesty when reviewing items for us like this.
do another content special like this but mention gps spot lock and the fish finders you like - i think those 2 items are the biggest innovations and additions - both are major
To add to your list of things to keep in your life jacket...
1. Storm whistle (about $8 at West Marine)
2. Glow sticks (swap out regularly)
I keep my EPIRB in my jacket as well in a small dry bag.
Also nice to have is a small drogue/sea-anchor.
Elias, great segment very informative. As a technician and to keep me tools (especially pliers) clean, I use a bit of steel wool or light sand paper and some WD-40 to maintain them. Keeps them clean and free of corrosion and good for many years. I spray and clean them on my boat once a year if necessary.
T-bone is the best bed extender I've ever owned! Super sturdy and insanely lightweight with all that strength. It was one of the first purchases I made when I went from a light duty kayak to a more heavy fishing based one.
Hope everyone thinking about getting into the sport heeds some of your advice, you probably shaved two years of learning curve off my saltwater conversion dude. Appreciate your candidness and passion!
What an excellent idea for a video - sharing from your experience about what you find helpful/necessary on the water is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Great stuff. Appreciate the real world ideas instead of the sales pitch from other sites.
Great informative video Elias. Some of those things I would have never thought of.
Sir the mustache is immaculate. Video was great, i just wanna preface the important part first.
I've had the same marine radio for several years. Works great, and holds a charge for a long time.
You got me by three years...pretty much a lot of the same...still have my 2016 Outback...been especially durable, reliable...no issues standard GT drive seems pretty bullet proof...I tried waders, but like you said, uncomfortable and get hot- turned 77 this year so my winter time fishing has been pretty much cut out as comfort seems especially important...like the dry pants, but not a dry suit...not made to fit comfortably for big guys...great fall season topic!tight lines!
Thank you, Elias, great info, very practical.
Great list and just in time for Christmas. Well done
Thanks for great info. I will be moving to Oak Island next year and hope to see you out there or team up with you some day.
I really appreciate this! So rare to get REAL recommendations from someone who really puts his gear through its paces. Thank you so much!
Thoughtful and informative, thank you
Carry that same epirb and bait bucket, got a mess of the paddle tails too!
now that i bought those 10 things, i need to purchase a kayak!
Been thinking about one of them bait buckets. Although I don’t fish very often with live bait. I just never purchased it.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Elias, your insights as to what is valuable to have and why are certainly worth sharing, considering how much time you spend out at sea in a kayak, facing so many challenging variables. Thanks for doing this, as I am still working out what my 'kit' is for each venture out in my kayak. Your gear recommendations are great, nothing extraneous or silly. Maximum practicality and durability!
Thanks, Elias!!
Thanks for the info! It was very useful for me! Keep them coming Elias! Still haven't bought one yet but with my back problems I'm leaning towards the Old Town self propelled model. I would love to talk to you about it sometime . Thanks again!
You should tag your wife in this video. Lol you’ll need a bigger Christmas tree
Great list
Thank you
Will be getting a bait shark soon thanks
great video
gotta get me some of the long pliers
Most excellent video. I've been kayak fishing since 2005 - not nearly as heavy as you, but I have many of the stuff you showed. I do like the low-key, non-commercial approach - too many sites are pushing their sponsors hard.
Great content, great recommendations!!!
Just like having an experienced buddy suggesting items to us.
Can I kindly suggest a whistle please?
I have been fishing and hunting for well over 50 years and a $4 whistle absolutely saved my life. A very bad situation happened and if you can breathe, you can blow a whistle!!!
Have a whistle in there as well 👍
Just bought a Pescador Pilot 12.0 and have been scouring the internet for kayak accessories. Been subbed for a bit and this video has impeccable timing. Thank you Elias!
Edit: would love your input on a recommended fish finder too!
I feel like I desperately need a Baitshark bucket, but the OG one has been sold out for a while. I wonder if he could make something to retrofit other generic bait buckets.
surprised you didnt say Flares .. pretty sure there was this video where someone was stopped by the USCG :) and sent home.
Nice vid and good info, Thanks! Note: EPIRB should be IN/ATTACHED TO your PFD!
They can rust out I was reading. Any experience with that?
I haven't had one rust on me, but I haven't gotten mine wet (yet) But I have flipped a kayak 2 miles offshore in Destin FL, and there would have been no way for me to get under my capsized PA, into the hatch, and into the dry bag to get the EPIRB. Be sure to set aside some time to come down to Navarre, FL mid-Dec to mid-Jan when the BFT are running near offshore!@@EliasVFishing
You show a Standard Horizon HX210 in the video; but clicking on the VHF radio link in your description, it brings up the Uniden MHS75.
Fixed! Thank you
Sending this to my wife lol
Sensible suggestions. Really like your vids
I also carry an EPIRB but on my jacket. If you become separated from your yak, having it in the dry locker won’t serve you well. Great videos.
Does yours not rust?
I live in Delaware , what would someone have to do to take a trip out with you fishing..??
I really like the dry Pants you have. Question are your feet 🦶 covered up in these as well cuz it looks like it in the video & #2. Were did you get them from cuz i am looking for a pair? I would appreciate your help. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this.
May I be so bold as to request an updated reel recommendation list?
Sorta did one a few months ago
Hey man I have a question about the the dry pants. Might be stupid from my end but if you fall in the water will it get water inside and weight you down ?
They have Velcro straps to reduce amount of water getting in
Those Sord pliers are about $300-$400 I’m thinking.
Ty my dawg cheers Ricky 💥🙏🔥🕺💃🎸👩🏻🦼🐈⬛💦🎣🐠💦🎣💕
Bro, we need a special edition Elias Shad called “The Stache”. Half paddle tail, half bucktail.
