I live in Australia and can find opals all over where I live with just a UV light!

I'm learning about types of Opal I've never heard of. Straw Opal is the most unusual in my opinion.

@@gems I can't believe Modaro Opal gets its color from fine inclusions of Purple Fluorite.
Other than the obvious fact that opal is my birthstone. The main contributor to my adoration of this precious gem resides in two big reasons. Number one is about a game I had when I was about 8, Dragonvale. I love the way they expressed the opal in its respective dragon and couldn’t wait to hatch one. The second reason in that my grandmother loved her opals. She had a prized opal necklace with a beautiful golden chain. Seeing as she passed away last year, I got this necklace. I wear it everywhere, keeping a piece of her with me day in and day out.
Opals are my absolute favorite! The play of color is just amazing!
I have 4 different opals and i absolutely love just sitting there and watching their colors. Its one of my favorite stones

As borosilicate mineral, tourmaline is very complex chemical composition with various colors.
So scientists had classified complex tourmaline with groups of several types.

Based on your previous episode about Tanzanian gemstones, I think my favorite is chrome tourmaline!
I have a few opals and a few tourmalines. All of them are amazing lol
I honestly when I was younger I never like opals because they did sparkle but after seeing them multiple times on jtv and in jewelry catalogs and plus my nephews birthday is in October so I grew to liking them
Opal is so amazing, but I have to go with tourmaline on this one. Schorl is just such a pretty black hue, and plus its a tourmaline

I always envied people born in October. Opals are my favorite gemstones, but I was told as a little kid that it’s unlucky to wear a birthstone other than the ones for your own month. 😭🥺
