Now I am curios, we need another video on the circumstances of the superstition as it pertains to you. I was raised in a very superstitious family but I made a conscious decision to not be myself, however I still find it interesting to hear stories about things that happen that reinforce those beliefs.

What a fascinating information. 👏I never had an opal jewelry, but I truly love white opal. I think, it's one of the most dazzling and sophisticating stone. However, after your personal story and historical facts about an opal stone, I won't be adding this jewel to my collection. (I wasn't born in October 😀)

Great vid. I inherited a beautiful opal & diamond cocktail ring from my Mother. Neither of us are/were October babies and I don’t remember ever seeing her wear it nor have I. Such a shame to keep something so stunning in a safe.

Jill Maurer : I definitely go for Opal. Even though it is very difficult to maintain, but it looks more elegant. What do you think?
Opals are gorgeous but work best in a necklace or earrings since they are so soft. In a ring, I'd go for a cheaper opal in case it breaks. If your sons are new to jewelry it may be wise to start with tourmalines since they are more durable. But really the best advice is to do whatever feels right to you.

Yay I have 2 birthstones ! I got my Opal necklaces and earrings as a Christmas present. I had to look up the myths behind the opals. Most of it is propaganda started by disgruntled diamond sellers who were worried the Opal would become more popular than diamonds, now diamonds are very common and not worth so much anymore.. I wonder if the Opal will start to make a comeback.
Opal is such a vibrant stone with the different colors in some. It's more beautiful than the diamond for me.

Yes, I've had opals, a ring and earrings. I am not an October baby and the superstition regarding the opal is new to me.
My wedding engagement ring is an oval shaped green tourmaline surrounded by a smaller diamond on each side set in a cushion band. We had looked for emeralds, had found nothing we liked, and happened to find the perfect ring while on a weekend away. That was the first time I had heard of tourmalines.
Whenever I'm in a jewelry store the jeweler will give me a look and then I will say, "Yes, I know that it's not an emerald, it's a green tourmaline."

Opal is better that other stone is ugly, and pink doesn't even fit October.

My sister thought her stone was ruby when she was born in May which represents the emerald and agate stone
I love my opal birthstones. OCTOBER 2 MY BDAY. only thing bad I heard about Opal is you shouldn't buy yourself an opal first it is bad luck. It should be given as a gift. I don't find this to be true because I bought my first one. Shout out to all October babies.

how true is it, that october babies should buy opal themselves as it brings bad luck. it should be a gift to them for good luck
This is a superstition, and how true it is depends on your own beliefs. Some cultures say that if you give the gifter a small payment like a coin for each opal the transaction negates the curse of it being gifted.

You don't have to have your birthstone at all. However if you do decide on an opal there are many less expensive options including jelly opals and Mexican opals. xoxo
