Love love seeing cool ProCharger projects out of the normal. Subscribed for more details and videos on this! Well done! (My only suggestion = spring-loaded tensioner, slide styles like that will only lead to massive slip, due to belt stretch) If you can integrate a simple cheap OEM tensioner that would be wonderful. Such as something from a Chrysler or new GM C8 or other. (gates has many of them out there, and none really cost more than $100)

I have been thinking about doing an engine with a ProCharger. This looks great. Nice to see how you packaged everything. Looks like it should fit really well. On an unrelated topic, I'm wondering why you guys chose the Redline products for your EFI engines. I have experience with the CB Performance Gen 4 EFI, but am looking at others too, so would love to know why you guys went with Redline.
Hi Andrig, thanks for visiting our page and sorry the delay in reply, there is only two of us here building engines and we've been a bit backed up. We've used Redline Weber efi for about 15 or so years, just something I know and has worked for us, this Procharger build is something we are still working on, its been a couple years in the works, the problem is with only two of us here, the efi, turbo and special projects like this are second on our priority list as we can barely keep up with our normal aspirated builds. As much as I would love to share and go over ideas with you, I'm not always able to get back to the social media messaging but if you have a chance and would like to call us during the day, I wouldn't mind going over a few ideas with you.

so... if you are taking power from your v belt to run the blower.. how much pressure does that develop, vs... say a high speed electric turbine that only uses electricity?

I'm retired.. like for a long time.. I have never heard of a mechanical injection for a VW engine.. I had the Bosh system on my 69 911s... that would be awesome.. maybe the Spica injection pump for a 2 liter Alfa...;;~}
so.. maybe you have noticed that small airplanes often come with Rotax engines... they look exactly like escaped VW engines to me.. but hey... I only built a few thousand of them, what do I know? going fast up in the air... better than the Autobahn
We only started out with the old school set of mechanical injection manifolds with throttle plates in them, from there we've welded on tabs for a TPS and injector bungs so we can use a modern full sequential electronic efi system.
@@powerhausvw I'm dense... are we talking about the same thing?.. mechanical injection like a diesel?... a mechanical pump run by a belt or chain... little pistons inside that squirt fuel through a nozzle.. a spring loaded injector into the manifold above the intake port and combustion chamber...
the original VW injection was the forerunner to the Bosh L jetronic it's called on BMW.. those manifolds have a place for the injectors... 1 per cylinder..
mechanical injection is not the same.. one per... but the force comes from a mechanical pump.. not the electric type..
my 69 911s had a Bosch mechanical injection... there were a couple other Porsches with the system... but that system wouldn't be smog compliant so they went to the electronic system exclusively... gas mechanical injection is also found on late 70s early 80s Alfa Romeo... the system was exclusively Alfa
I learned how on those original computers... I didn't have the diagnostic equipment... I had a multimeter and the book
looked all over.. can't find a real mechanical injection for VW.. the problem is the pump timing.. my Porsche had a cogged belt drive.. it was only offered for that year on the S... that timing is part of the internal mechanics of the engine timing.. separate pulley system off the crankshaft, right next to the cam chain for the left side of the engine... Alfa uses a similar setup on the front cover below the water pump... mechanical injection was.. abandoned.. mechanics for those systems are even harder to find... I also did gray market engineering up in the Bay area.. the problems with those systems were not fixable.. fuel shut off when you let off the throttle is necessary to meet smog .. it's mechanical... little holes on a rotating cylinder in the pump.. but the pistons that pump the fuel keep going up and down... so... I'm looking at your beautiful engine... and.. asking questions

CIS injection is a similar looking injector.. but it doesn't have any shut off.. the fine mist is constant.. Constant Injection System... a clever name.. typical German efficiency.. I think that's what you meant... but... despite many years of fixing exotic cars... I definitely don't know everything

Not yet, unfortunately this project has hit the back burner a few times for different reasons but we are just weeks away now from getting back at it so we're really aiming/expecting to have it running before the end of this year, we'll be updating again very soon.
