Offroad Testing our Brand New 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU Rubicon

  • So we purchased a brand new, 2018 JLU Rubicon exactly one week ago. Officially name "The Step Child", we slapped 35" Cooper STT Pro tires and 1.5" wheel spacers on her but left her otherwise completely stock.
    We then immediately took her out to Old Chinaman Gulch in Colorado and tested her on every obstacle we came across.
    When all was said and done - we had a smorgasbord of scratches and gouges on the belly pans and sliders (that's what they're there for) and zero actual body damage. The only thing that stopped the vehicle at any point was clearance (which can be easily fixed with 37s and a lift), otherwise it climbed just about anything you put it up against.
    All in all, we were extremely impressed with the offroad capabilities of the vehicle. Ultimately this thing is a beast right out of the box - 10/10 I would recommend to anyone looking for a vehicle that's comfortable as hell on the road and can handle itself with flying colors offroad.

    I love watching your old videos as inspo and making me realize that I don’t need to lift my jeep any more than I have with rubicon springs for 35s.

    This video is really cool.
    The girl knows how to navigate through
    hard obstacles. My thumps on the blonde lady and the 2018 Jeep JL.
    The driver is awesome for keeping the
    vehicle from flipping.
    Congratulations on your new Jeep and
    conquering the hardest off-road course
    out there.

    Amazing to look back and see just how capable a stock JLUR was/is! With you and Kevin driving/spotting rocks don't stand a chance. At first I had to do a double-take: without the graphics she looked just like your little R/C car! My, how y'all have grown!

    The skill level that you guys have off roading is down right impressive. This is no easy feat to crawl like this with even a stock rubi.. it’s a beautiful Jeep By the way.. I just wouldn’t have the confidence to do half of what you two did. Wow what a nice video, you have balls, I just got mine just like yours but Black. I am planning just 2” lift and running 35” tires, lift just to help the undercarriage clearance a little more. Again great video on what the Rubicon can do

    • @TheBrendo2323
      @TheBrendo2323 6 років тому

      if you put on a two inch lift you might as well go to 37's it will help the belly drag a lot more than just a lift.

    • @markdarnell2792
      @markdarnell2792 6 років тому +2

      brendan strange I went with 2.5” spacer lift and 35”, I hear what you are saying, but want to keep as much of crawl ratio I can and 35” is going to do well with lift off road. Also I can easily mount 35” on back without expensive reinforced hinges and 35” fits perfect on the back.

      good luck man sounds like a fun build. I have a tj with a 3in lift, metal cloaks and 33s. I have way more travel than tire and can only stuff the rear the front has ample room to flex. i want 35's but no way on tj axles
