The Fast Lane Car How much does this new JKU tow? I want to tow a T@b S teardrop travel trailer with a Jeep Unlimited. I've seen, on UA-cam, a retired Nurse tow her T@b with her 2015 Jeep Unlimited.
The Fast Lane Car Whoever is holding the camera needs to pan over the instrument panel and/or interior a bit slower. Or have Roman point out the features a bit slower. Especially, at 8:00-825 minutes. I wanted to see the top cross section of the phone and key holder. Thanks.
DWings I believe there is a 35" option from the factory, so there may not be as much 33" takeoffs as hoped. Unless people want to go bigger than 35" of course.
Very cool and, as per usual, an excellent, super thorough review. I love all of the hard work you guys put into your UA-cam videos and channel. I am not a Jeep guy, but this JL is REALLY making me consider buying one! Something I really respect about Jeep; is they're keeping the manual transmission alive! That kicks ass!
I lived in Tucson for 10 years, and I have lots of good memories of jeeping in the desert. So much fun. It was fun seeing that the event was at Dove Mountain. There are so many back trails we used to take in that area.
Robert Tobin But sadly, it will co$t a shit ton of money. I'm calling it a $50k Jeep much like the new crew cab 4x4 trucks of today. That's close to Raptor territory. Lol
Okie Rider its gotta be more than that i paid 50k for my 2017 hardrock unlimited, fully loaded with every option!! Im saying 60-70 with options for the rubicon eco D
Just so everyone knows . They started building this jeep 2.5 years ago . Thats 2.5 years of development and testing to see whats before you today. Jeep also saud thry did over 4 million miles of testing on the vehicle . Street mud rock snow , water . Jeep , not fiat designed this vehicle . Tbey know its there bread and butter and werent going to take the chance of screwing it up
dilsher12 Of course its a good thing I’m just saying it’s hard to mess up when all you do is change the type of lights a bit exterior wise, the interior is much better though and I wonder how well the new 4 cylinder will do. If they changed it too much I wouldn’t consider it a Wrangler then.
Parked next to each other the differences are very noticable. It's not easy to make something like refreshed without being able to change too much. The exterior looks like a Jeep, but still looks different.
jlv3x It reminds me of how Mercedes handles the G Wagon. You can definitely tell up close but most average consumers won’t be able to tell a difference.
Lavonte A 2.4 is actually a great engine. Problem is it was designed for a midsized to compact car, not suvs like fca is putting them in. That 2.4 made my Dart scoot down the road pretty quick. It sounded nice too put the thing was always begging for a turbo.
looking forward to the road trip review I think a plug-in hybrid jeep would be a game changer for city or long off-road camping trips where fuel is always a limit
Great video! Kind of makes me wish I waited to get the JL when I bought my JK 2 years ago. After lockers, lift, gears, wheels, tires, armor and a down payments worth of other stuff.. I suddenly regret not waiting. HOWEVER. This just gives me time to save up for the diesel!
This might be the first time I'm truly in love with a Wrangler. I only just recently decided that I like the JK (with my biggest issues being the interior and tech), and it seems like the JL is a massive step forward in every way - including off roading ability for the purists.
I'm NOT a Jeep Wrangler fan but I like the JL. Where the previous Wranglers fell short in the areas that are important to me, the new Wrangler shines. This will get more people into a Jeep wranglers. Hopefully the true off road crowd is pleased with the new JL, it's been their go to vehicle.
When the JL becomes available with 4 doors and a truckbed, I will most definitely be ordering one. And something tells me owning a JL gladiator isn't just a pipe dream.
This thing is getting more luxurious which I both love and hate, I like the simple yet masculine designs without all the fancy interiors and gadgets...looks cool, cant wait to see one up close.
Does the key fob have a button to open and close the sky one touch canvas top when the car is off? I’m with Roman, this power top is one of the best new features of the JL. Shame it’s only a feature for the 4 door.
I have a 98 fairly built and capable Wrangler which I love. I would not hesitate to get a new one and would probably even pick the 2.0L turbo. The JL looks to me like it will be the best platform yet. AFTERMARKET... LAUNCH!
Hi guys. Awesome car and video. Greetings from Colombia. I hope jeep brings to the country all the drivetrain options. Can´t wait to see it in the flesh.
Otis Driftwood rubicon is nice. But unless I plan on off-roading every single weekend or doing really hard trails, then I don't need it. A stock sport will do what I want to do perfectly fine.
Shane Raymer i just don't like how they make everything look extra plastic and cheap on the sports..bumpers, the wheels, the interior, and 4x4 capability.
That 2.0 looks like it has good power and I bet it will get good gas mileage as well. Looks like a good overall engine choice. I bet it will be a good engine in the 2 door and fun to drive. Nice video
Hope you can drive it to Colorado. Off road capabilities are more than proved. Instead, on road driving have been a problem for years so, it worth to get your feedback about it on a long travel
Thanks for the video! That power soft top was the worst idea they could do. It's the reason there aren't libertys anymore. Can't believe they brought it back
I see they copied the Aux switches and K02s from the Ford Raptor...about time. Good to see you can slap on 35s from the factory now. Great job showing us all the stuff without breaking embargo!
Forget the rest of the awesomeness, 8:07 The first manufacturer that I’ve seen to add a cut-out in the cubby (centre console) for a phone lead to pass through. Well done Jeep 👏👏👏👏 😂😂
Excellent first drive review. I love my Jeep Wrangler JKRU. I am glad JEEP kept all previous features and made it even more user friendly. I am waiting on the diesel. Is it true that it will only come with an Automatic??? I hope they will have a diesel with a manual transmission.
A 2 mpg gain on the v6 from the outgoing model is actually insanely impressive. I'm pretty excited about the 4 banger though even if it's a mild hybrid
I have to say this JL is miles better than the JK to me. It looks better and more refined and it shows in that side by side. That sliding roof has always been prone to messing up and leaking on the liberty.
That will never happen. Not only due to cost, but also MPG. Fiat has to meet a certain MPG across its lineup, and the wrangler already hurts that average, a hemi would only make it worse. That and I doubt the axles are strong enough to handle the hemi. They will not want to warranty out axles all the time because the engine puts out to much power.
Jesse Simpson Hi! Wranglers are meant to be slow crawlers, beach cruisers, recreational vehicles.... A Hemi is a hi-po, hi-torque performance motor that belongs in a performance chassis, drivetrain, and suspension. It is a waste on a Wrangler. Hi-Po SUVs like the AMG g-wagen are just for showing off, the ludicrous performance numbers are useless on those vehicles. Remember, the Willys Jeep won the war and conquered countless trails on just 60 horses 😁👍

Happy Holidays and Thanks for Watching! We've Have New Shirts and Hoodies: teespring.com/stores/tfl
The Fast Lane Car chysler should put the 5.7 hemi with a 6 speed stick shift in the wrangler
Merry Christmas!
The Fast Lane Car

certified UA-cam mechanic
How about Dodge's little 4.7L V8 from the Dakota?
The Fast Lane Car
Whoever is holding the camera needs to pan over the instrument panel and/or interior a bit slower. Or have Roman point out the features a bit slower. Especially, at 8:00-825 minutes. I wanted to see the top cross section of the phone and key holder. Thanks.
excited for a crop of stock 33 wheels/tires on ebay
DWings I believe there is a 35" option from the factory, so there may not be as much 33" takeoffs as hoped. Unless people want to go bigger than 35" of course.
good point! upgrade for cheap next year
Thanks for the video. I’m starting to like the JL more and more.
This is awesome man I'm honestly so excited to buy one
Very cool and, as per usual, an excellent, super thorough review. I love all of the hard work you guys put into your UA-cam videos and channel.
I am not a Jeep guy, but this JL is REALLY making me consider buying one! Something I really respect about Jeep; is they're keeping the manual transmission alive! That kicks ass!
You are SOOO early!! Great Job!!
Not as rugged looking as jk but its sleek. Cant wait for jk vs JL videos off-road
I think a lot of people really like the jl because it seems like they finally got the grill right once again with the angle.
Lower 1st should help all models.
I think they look more rugged. Do a side by side with a stock JK and JL. JL looks a lot more tough IMO.
Well this comment didn't age well.
Fantastic looking wrangler & a great review! Keep it up!
You have THE BEST JL coverage. Keep it up!
TFL ROCKS!
TFL _ ROCKS THE NEW JLU ROCK CRAWLER_!!!!!! Great Video TFL Crew.
Can’t believe you got one this early!
Wesley McKinney can’t believe you’re that stupid. They didn’t get one. Jeep flew then to a site to show them off. Lol
KillaBandit Also it's you're*. If you're gonna call someone stupid, at least use the correct vocabulary.
Daniel Sanchez lol speak for yourself. “Also, it’s you’re”. Lol. Learn to use commas.
KillaBandit Damn, back at it again with the edited comments!!!
Daniel Sanchez grow up kid.
I lived in Tucson for 10 years, and I have lots of good memories of jeeping in the desert. So much fun. It was fun seeing that the event was at Dove Mountain. There are so many back trails we used to take in that area.
I was trying to figure out where they were , I thought picture rocks or reddington pass.
Impressed by how quickly you guys managed to get your hands on some JLs to do this video. Best JL video I’ve seen yet. Keep up the great work!
Great video! I want to buy one right now! I can’t wait to see the diesel and that will be the one I will be most interested in. Very exciting stuff!
Robert Tobin
But sadly, it will co$t a shit ton of money.
I was really excited for the diesel also but sounds like it will only be available with the automatic.
$60K-$70K is pretty darn pricey. How much of a market is there for this type of configuration?
Just so everyone knows . They started building this jeep 2.5 years ago . Thats 2.5 years of development and testing to see whats before you today. Jeep also saud thry did over 4 million miles of testing on the vehicle . Street mud rock snow , water . Jeep , not fiat designed this vehicle . Tbey know its there bread and butter and werent going to take the chance of screwing it up
Robert Snyder Yea looks the same anyways after 2.5 years of development lol
Ross MK and thats a bad thing ? Wrangler should look well like a wrangler
dilsher12 Of course its a good thing I’m just saying it’s hard to mess up when all you do is change the type of lights a bit exterior wise, the interior is much better though and I wonder how well the new 4 cylinder will do. If they changed it too much I wouldn’t consider it a Wrangler then.

Thanks for the awesome videos guys, the new Jeep JL looks amazing.
Looks great! I'm considering this for my next vehicle.
That 2.0l sounds wayyyyy better than that crappy 2.4 Multiair and I bet it’s more refined than that 2.4l
Still not better than the 3.6 V6 can guarantee that from a reliability standpoint.
Hello Bye I know that I love their 3.6
Torque is king, and the 2.0 has more of it than the wheezy 3.6. Looking forward to the diesel.
Lavonte A 2.4 is actually a great engine. Problem is it was designed for a midsized to compact car, not suvs like fca is putting them in. That 2.4 made my Dart scoot down the road pretty quick. It sounded nice too put the thing was always begging for a turbo.
always wanted a NG 9-5
Thanks Roman, always enjoy getting more info on the new JLs.
Oh man that 2 door manual 2 liter.. i need it!!! It looks so freakin' good!
Tyler Berry you can’t get the 2.0 turbo in a manual 😔
Yeah, i unfortunately just found that out in their unveiling video they posted yesterday.. kind of a bummer, it would be a cool combination for sure.
Tyler Berry agreed, I wonder if the diesel will have a manual option?
I hope so! that would be the ultimate setup in my opinion.
hydroboy35th FCA said the diesel will only be an automatic and will only be a 4 door.
looking forward to the road trip review
I think a plug-in hybrid jeep would be a game changer for city or long off-road camping trips where fuel is always a limit

When a cactus gets stuck in the tire...
They call those jumping cholla.
This might be the first time I'm truly in love with a Wrangler. I only just recently decided that I like the JK (with my biggest issues being the interior and tech), and it seems like the JL is a massive step forward in every way - including off roading ability for the purists.
OMG!!! The new Jeep JL's ARE SIIICK!!!
Not just "sick", but very well indeed!
Wow, what a BEAST! I ordered a Jeep a while back and just got it on 10/13. It is a 2018 but a JKU. This new one is awesome!
This should be engine in compass and 8 speed transmission dam jeep still love them though
Even after driving a JL, this is still a great video!
I'm NOT a Jeep Wrangler fan but I like the JL. Where the previous Wranglers fell short in the areas that are important to me, the new Wrangler shines. This will get more people into a Jeep wranglers. Hopefully the true off road crowd is pleased with the new JL, it's been their go to vehicle.
this is so sweet right now best video ever you're giving us so much info and you're getting to test that so early that's awesome
Jeep nailed it
Great review. New Wrangler looks awesome, and Jeep have clearly worked on feedback from owners and improved where they need to.
This was one of your best videos.
Having Seen the 2018 JL at the Fort Worth Auto show I can agree this looks and feels awsome over the JK.
Absolutely in love with the new Rubicon. Definitely my next purchase!
It actually looks very, very nice. I'm impressed.
This might be the first Wrangler I get. Been through a 93 grand wagoneer and currently have a 98 5.9 limited
When the JL becomes available with 4 doors and a truckbed, I will most definitely be ordering one. And something tells me owning a JL gladiator isn't just a pipe dream.
Love it, Roland! I've been subbed to the channel since you guys had 30k subs. Look at you guys now!
THANKS for the video.... you guy's got the best job ever.
Happy holidays to you and yours
This thing is getting more luxurious which I both love and hate, I like the simple yet masculine designs without all the fancy interiors and gadgets...looks cool, cant wait to see one up close.
Just WOW! Amazing vehicle! I have to start saving for that Rubicon eco diesel.
Thanks for the video! Hope you had a good time in my town of Tucson.
Man, you loved this car. In fact it's a perfect car.
Looks like the best Jeep ever. Nice job, FCA!
I build the axles in Toledo. So excited for the JL and JT
Does the key fob have a button to open and close the sky one touch canvas top when the car is off? I’m with Roman, this power top is one of the best new features of the JL. Shame it’s only a feature for the 4 door.
I am so impressed with this model I'm still holding out for the truck model to be my next purchase but wow its tempting.
I have a 98 fairly built and capable Wrangler which I love. I would not hesitate to get a new one and would probably even pick the 2.0L turbo. The JL looks to me like it will be the best platform yet. AFTERMARKET... LAUNCH!
we get all the newest stuff here in Tucson...hope you guys enjoy your stay here
Hi guys. Awesome car and video. Greetings from Colombia. I hope jeep brings to the country all the drivetrain options. Can´t wait to see it in the flesh.
Wow, you were literally in my backyard. Hope you enjoyed the Tortolitas, they're a fantastic mountain range.
Great review! I shared it with all of my Jeep friends
This is such a beautiful American Automobile 🚗
I love my TJ, and man i love this new JL.
Awesome video guys. I almost like this Rubicon more than my 4Runner
Does your 4Runner have SAS? Cause that's badass.
really like the new powertrains, can't wait to see the plug in hybrid
Finally first look at the sport model! That's what I'm buying!
Shane Raymer rubicon is where it's at
Otis Driftwood rubicon is nice.
Otis Driftwood yeah true. But it fits my budget a lot better lol
Great video driving up grandmas driveway.
Great video..happy to see this thing in motion!!!!
Ohh so much heart ♥ warming.. i just love this new Wrangler..
Headroom looks a little tight for Roman.
Your videos are much improved! Great job.
I saw what you all did there with at 4.39 in the video, the OD had 1337 = Leet, can't sneak that past a geek!
Love it; really liking the interior on the new one.
I’m ready for it! I hope y’all can take it back to CO.
Will have to upgrade my jk in 2019, this is just too appealing.
Thanks for the video! That power soft top was the worst idea they could do. It's the reason there aren't libertys anymore. Can't believe they brought it back
Jordan Jungman wtf? Liberty had no such top
Yup, they called it the sky slider. It was just the canvas part. Google it and you will not see one good review from someone that owned one
I can't wait for tuners to hit the market for that 2L turbo. It has way more potential than the 3.6L V6.
2L Turbo? for a slow crawling jeep all day?
No thanks.
Bad idea all the way around. The diesel makes sense.
So cool ! Thanks for the great review.
I'd love to own a new JP! Good work guys.
I see they copied the Aux switches and K02s from the Ford Raptor...about time. Good to see you can slap on 35s from the factory now.
Great job showing us all the stuff without breaking embargo!
I hope the towing capacities have gone up! I can’t wait to switch to the JL from the JK but I’ll wait for a few years
They haven't. Tommy did a video the other day and they are identical.
I admire how Roman stands on his own two foot.
Forget the rest of the awesomeness, 8:07 The first manufacturer that I’ve seen to add a cut-out in the cubby (centre console) for a phone lead to pass through. Well done Jeep 👏👏👏👏 😂😂
I miss Arizona, I would cruise through the desert at 50 mph all day.
They hit the nail on the head in every which way
Excellent first drive review. I love my Jeep Wrangler JKRU. I am glad JEEP kept all previous features and made it even more user friendly. I am waiting on the diesel. Is it true that it will only come with an Automatic??? I hope they will have a diesel with a manual transmission.
Just awesome! I could live without the shout out to the Raptor in EVERY video.......lol!
I love everything about Jeeps.
Impressed what they did with the interior. Hopefully, this SUV will hold up despite FCA's terrible reliability rating.
Awesome vehicle for an awesome country.
Great vid!
I daily an '87 Yj and I have to say that I think this Jl is leaps and bounds cooler than any (stock) Jk. I really like it.
That's an awesome review guys! did you notice the centre console light cover is missing?
A 2 mpg gain on the v6 from the outgoing model is actually insanely impressive. I'm pretty excited about the 4 banger though even if it's a mild hybrid
That may include the start/stop feature in action.
Tucsonan Dude that may be true in city and morning traffic, but on highway? Not much stopping going on. Either way kudos on improvement
Great video. Where near Tucson were you wheeling? Did you air down the tires at all?
Love the Napoleon Dynamite-inspired music at 2:10
I can't wait to see 2.0T vs 3.6 V6 drag race.
Kolt C nikl
any idea on when the 2.0T will be available?
Very tempting. Does the 4th Gen Uconnect support Apple Carplay and Android Auto?
I have to say this JL is miles better than the JK to me. It looks better and more refined and it shows in that side by side. That sliding roof has always been prone to messing up and leaking on the liberty.
a 4 door rubi with a diesel would be kick ass. I also like the look of them the front end looks cool
Great vid Roman. Love this channel. Anyone know why Jeep doesn't allow customers to tour the factory and watch your rig being built?
Crushing my dreams of hemi wranglers
You can get a Hemi in a Wrangler. You just can't buy them directly from FCA.
Skodz Gaming Real Jeeps are built not bought.
Skodz Gaming
Not practical from a safety perspective, and economic perspective. If u want a Hemi, get a Challenger 😎
Jesse Simpson
Hi!
That’s cool that this one is more lightweight
Great vid. I, like the vast majority of potential JL buyers won't ever be doing this. When do you fine gets anticipate an on-road test?
Seems like it has some really nice fetchers. Although I don't think I would want a plugin hybrid, especially not for offroading. The diesel I could understand though. Especial for warm climates, and if diesel in your area is more reasonably priced.Although for me gas would probably be more practical.
Hey @TheFastLaneCar - can you please explain to me why the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has side curtain airbags for the front of this vehicle but not in the back (for the four door?) Jeeps IIHS side impact ratings in previous versions were lackluster - and somewhat disconcerting. If safety is paramount, seems like a big miss to me.
