I would say Christianity is a religion of people that have a relationship with God. Thanks for pointing out these Cliche (pronounced Kleeshays). I think another one to point out is the bad teaching that says if you commit suicide you automatically go to Hell. I think that one has bruised a lot of people. There is no Bible verse that says that.
I have ALWAYS!! questioned these issues throughout my Discipleship with Christ the Lord. Interesting how many say that Christ was Jesus’ last name but it was not! He was “THE CHRIST”.
I'd recommend massively revising Romans 1:18, for example. Or at least, show the version angels had? As it failed with... rather a lot of them... first. In heaven itself, apparently. And it may help to see how well it best gels with 1 Corinthians 2:14, too (and including what 'natural' means, in context)? Also, Yeshua bar Joseph... (James Hyde)
@@JCraig1981 I just don't feel like getting into it with you. Mark and Luke weren't not disciples. Matthew and John were. Does that answer your question?
I really think the "God told me.." and "Listen to the still small voice" cliches need to be talked about and rebuked more within the church. Both of these caused me a lot of distress for a long time because even though I knew I had repented and put my trust in Christ I doubted my salvation constantly because it seemed like everyone around me was always "hearing from God" messages that seemed to be just for them and I wasn't. I had so many doubts and it stumbled me a lot. I used to beg God to speak to me and sit in the quiet during my prayer time waiting for a still small voice, I would sob about it. Until I heard Todd talk about this on the podcast and I was amazed he was the only one I had heard talk about this and it reassured me that God's Word is sufficient and all that I need.
I had the same issue. So many people have claimed to “hear” God speaking to them. When it didn’t happen to me, no matter how badly I wanted it, I eventually began to think something was wrong with me and I was actually a false convert. It took a lot of time, prayer, and study of legitimate Bible teachers (like this man!) to help me overcome this kind of thinking.
Friend, I don’t know what church you go/went to, or what denomination you fall under, if any, but to hear Him, it helps to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I’m not sure if you believe in speaking in tongues, but that is a sure fire way to know that you have the Holy Spirit within you. The Lord certainly talks to people. However, it’s not as simple as that. He talks to me, but it’s not like an audible voice you hear. It’s like a knowing that comes from within. As an example, one time I was by myself driving on a rather windy and narrow road. Suddenly, I know within to look out for deer. As I make a turn, sure enough I see a deer on the side of the road 3 seconds after knowing to lookout for deer. It seems like a little thing, but the deer may have startled me and something could’ve happened. Don’t beat yourself up over not knowing when it’s Him talking to you. That’s the hardest part about listening to Him. Distinguishing whether it’s Him, just you, or the enemy trying to harm you. People that say He doesn’t talk to us just don’t know how to tell when it’s His voice, because He talks a lot. You’re His kid after all and a Father loves talking to their kid
@@ThatMan223 I 100% know that God talks to people because He has done so many times in the bible. But I believe it's an exception and not a rule. God can do and does whatever He wants. But I don't believe all these people are hearing from God constantly and Hes telling them they should wash their curtains today. Are we guided by the Holy Spirit? Absolutely, but like you said we can't trust all the "voices" or thoughts we get so we have to turn to God's word. That's why He gave it to us. We don't have to try to rely on our own thoughts to know Him because His truth is written down and set in stone and living.
@@jenniberber1489 considering the conversations I’ve had with The Father, I don’t doubt that some people you know have been told that it’s time to clean the curtains. The Father loves us and wants to save us from as much neck pain as possible. Maybe if the curtains were left unclean, something gross would begin to infest the house? Merely speculation because I don’t know this person, but I’ve had quite a few times where He’s warned me about something small so it doesn’t become a hassle. Sadly, something a lot of people believe is that The Father is distant and rarely speaks. This is simply not the case. He will talk with you about pretty much everything because He is your Dad and wants to spend time with His kid. I’m not disregarding His Word, please don’t think that for a second. All I’m saying is that He loves to talk with us through His Word and outside of His Word because I have it both ways.
Question: Do you realize that all denominations combine the gospel of the kingdom, which was ONLY for the Jews, with the gospel of the grace of God, that is for everyone? That is what make a denomination - a denomination. That is how denominations manufacture their gospel. The gospel of Christ (gospel of the grace of God) was ONLY preached by our apostle Paul. Jesus and the 12 taught the gospel of the kingdom. Only Paul taught the gospel of the grace of God.
I hear what you are saying, but you can't forget the fact about the gifts of the Spirit. The gift of knowledge and wisdom which can be given to any follower of Christ at any time. When I was a young Christian I was walking out to my car to go to work on a cold winter morning. I would drive to work one of two ways to alternate my route. As I headed to the car there was a strong thought, like a voice in my mind. The voice told me which road to take. I didn't know what to think about that and thought, I went that way yesterday so I'll take the other road. The strong thought spoke again. This happened twice, I dismissed it the second time. The thought/voice told me a third time which way to go. This time I said, I better go that way. So I went the way I was "told". Found at that at the bottom of a steep hill on the route I was going to take, there was a water main break and the water covering the road was freezing over. I believe that God did speak to me to protect me from a dangerous hazard. I don't get that thought/voice very often, but when it happens, I've learned to listen. Jesus said, my sheep know my voice and follow me. But I do think you are right to a point. Yeah there are to many Christian's out there claiming that God is speaking to them constantly. I don't believe them. I never heard an audible voice or God call me by name. But I have heard like a strong thought/voice in my mind tell me things. And I know it's not me thinking it
Be very careful. Test those spirits. 1 John 4:1. "I know it's not me thinking it". Remember there is another mathematical possibility you may have left out. Make sure your "gift from God" is not the pink elephant gift from Unohoo. And how do you know the difference? Sola scriptura. Not "flying solo".
@@Gablesman888 Amazing. Instead of praising God for his providence, you doubt, question my experience. That's ok. People have treated me like that all my Christian life. I know my experiences with the Lord are real and I trust in him, not man. When I have those times when I get a thought/voice in my head I know they are from the Lord Jesus Christ. They never go outside of scripture, and I am always right when I follow what I was told. I don't know of any elephant you speak of. The real question is. Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? I mean the biblical way of receiving the Holy Ghost, not the popular modern way the church claims today. The church today has dumbied down God's salvation plan of being born again. They made it more convenient. They made it a way that is near. They follow tradition instead of truth. They say, just repeat this prayer. Or just except Jesus. Or you only have to believe. Yet none of those ways are biblical. Search the scripture for in them you think you have eternal life, but they are they that testify of him. That is on Jesus Christ. God's one and only plan of salvation by the new birth is as Peter said in Acts 2:38, Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. No other way that man has made up is scriptural. Pray about this. Study it out completely.

@@Gablesman888 How rude. God does still speak to us today. Three women at a women's prayer meeting ( who didn't know one another) all had a message from God for me. I asked the Lord if my dad made it to heaven and hoped that he had. On Sunday whilst I was at church a Christian man ( a farmer) came to me and said" I don't know what this means but as I was praying the Lord told me to tell you the answer to your question is Yes he is here. I cried. God has spoken to me through dreams and in my spirit. I do check that it matches up with the word of God, especially when others have a word I have been given words that I knew were wrong because they didn't line up with scripture. I know that people are often misguided because they are biblically iliterate and the most important way to hear from God is to study his word but he does still speak to us in our inner man ect. Hope this hasn't been to long for you to read.
I agree. If it were not for that still small voice, while I was reading an earth bound book by my then favorite author, I still would not be in the word of God. I agree 100%.

I go to Liberty University, and so many times we have had speakers do the sinners prayer at the end. It infuriates me, leading people to believe in a false conversion. However, the example you gave of the husband and wife was hilarious
There is a sinners prayer in the Bible. Romans 10:9-10 But yes the way false teachers like Joel Osteen do it is wrong. After someone hears the gospel and their heart is convicted and they understand that they are a sinner in need of a savior, and you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead then you will be saved.
@@michaelhardy2658 That's not a sinners prayer. In the entire book of acts there is no account of a sinners prayer (for conversion)... the closest the scriptures come to it in acts is chapter 22 the conversion of Paul. And that three days of prayer and fasting did NOT remit his sins. Likewise, it didn't constitute calling on the name of the lord for redemption. His belief in Jesus did not constitute his conversion in that chapter. The MIRACULOUS laying on of hands of Ananias did not remit his sins. Paul did not stop confessing Jesus as lord during this entire confrontation (and all of this he did before Ananias even showed up to lay hands on him). He still had to do something to be converted (his sins washed away). Chapter 22 is the Holy Spirits way of shooting down every obstacle a person would throw in the way of Baptism by faith. Is that a works based salvation? It is a works of the Holy Spirit based salvation. I agree if you only see yourself doing something in your baptism... Yes... Your baptism is quite ineffectual. But when I was being baptized... I didn't think I was baptizing myself. I thought of it as the Holy Spirit performing an operation on me. Am I bragging? Not on myself... I can't baptize myself.
@@thundershadow It’s a sinner praying to God on your knees that you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and that you God the Father raised Him from the dead so that my sins can be forgiven and have everlasting life. That is a prayer that happens to everyone when they become a believer because the weight of your sin should make you fall on your knees and pray and cry out to God to forgive you of your sins and that you believe!! At that very moment you are baptized with the Holy Spirit and are sealed for the day of redemption, no water needed, not saying that you shouldn’t get water baptized but that is not what saved you! So in a sense it is biblical that there be a sinners prayer just not the way that it is done today by most churches!

Thank you so much, you made me laugh for the first time in so long. I have OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ( a severe anxiety disorder that I was born with & PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which I have from a severe traumatic event). It’s been very bad for the past 2 years. A lot of it was due to the misrepresentation of Christianity to me by some people. And mistreatment by them. It was cruel actually. I was told by a Christian Counsellor that “I have demons attached to me”. Another told me “that I worship the devil”, simply because I like Sci-fi and fantasy films, books etc. I was also told by an ex-pastor “ That if god asked me to do something and I didn’t, he would punish me by killing my horse”. I’m very sorry for this comment, but it felt important to post it. I feel so much better. You’re the first relatable person I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you 🙏 now I don’t feel so alone. I’ve subscribed. Can’t wait to see more 🙂❤
Omgosh that’s awful !!😢 I’m so glad God brought you through it though because every trial given by God is meant to strengthen you and for you to testify to others with similar situations of what you’ve been through so you can both find healing ❤️🩹 . Praise the Lord!!🙌🏽❤️
@@horseman4now Thank you for the advice. However I'm growing tired and frustrated with this unhealthy fixation, stemming from other people. All about what tv shows or movies I watch. I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety because of this. Because I feel as if I'm being attacked by others, when there is no need to do so whatsoever. No person deserves to be abused over what they watch on TV or at the cinema. I have been advised by a close friend's pastor (who enjoys The Harry Potter series of films and books himself.) To give myself a long break from the bible and those who have misused it against me, and just get back to being my usual self. The person that I was before this mistreatment occurred. Reaffirm my own personal relationship with god, without any other outside input or influence. And whilst I am doing this. I will be booking much needed sessions with my Christian counsellor, Sarah. Sarah holds several degrees within both the Church and Counselling areas of expertise. She treats both spiritual issues, along with psychiatric conditions, such as PTSD -Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, General Anxiety Disorders, Specialised anxiety disorders like OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as well as Depression, Bipolar Disorder and many other mental health conditions. Who already ( several months prior ) reaffirmed in our first few sessions together. That it is perfectly acceptable for me to watch and read the things that I enjoy, as long as it doesn't interfere with me spiritually, interfere with my relationship with god, or cause me to act in an untoward or negative manner. So, none of the 3 reasons listed above are applicable. They do not cause any unwanted or negative issues/problems. In fact many of the television series, books, movies and video games I play are utilised in a positive manner as CBT-Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help treat my OCD and my PTSD. Focusing on a positive and enjoyable activity is extremely important in both managing and improving both conditions. It also enables the damaged part of my brain (the orbital cortex) to create new and healthy neurological pathways. Creating new pathways within the brain, can greatly ease the painful symptoms that my OCD and PTSD cause. So lastly, the things I like. Star Wars, Sci-fi, Dragons, fantasy genre, history. These are all comforting and interesting topics for me. Plus its an expression of who I am. A part of myself I need to repair now.

There are two different words for "judge" in the Greek, one meaning to pass Eternal judgement, as in "You're going to Hell you miserable sinner and I'm glad do hear me glad!". We are not allowed to do this. The other word means to accurately distinguish between good and evil, truth and falsehood, right and wrong. We are not just allowed to do this, but commanded to do so.
In the KJV version it does say “For the love of money is the root of all evil”. That’s where they get that phrase from. It depends on the version you read, but I am sure they do take it out of context.
I did the sinner's prayer a few months after discovering Jesus was the way more than 2 years ago and I'm following Christ more than ever now. And as for "God told me...", I understand the reasoning, but God does tell people things, especially in dreams. It's just a matter of discernment of whether it's actually from God. God doesn't want to lead His people astray after all.
God spoke audibly in the Bible and to very few people that were actually prophets, not ordinary people . There’s no mention of “speaking into someone’s spirit “ or “inward impressions”. That is Gnostic heresy!

All of these are good, but, "God told me," is the saying that irritates me the most. My church had a three-piece band which included me playing guitar and doing the lead singing, our pastor's wife singing, and a drummer. I had a stroke in April 2020 which took away my ability to sing, so the band was on hiatus. Roughly a month after my stroke, the pastor's wife said to me, "God told me that you should keep singing." I literally could not sing at the time. I wondered to myself, "Why is God telling her I should keep singing and not me?" With the help of a speech therapist, over the course of about a year, I eventually recovered about 85% to 90% of my ability to sing. There is no more band. I just lead the singing of traditional hymns on Sundays with my guitar. I didn't care for some of the pop, pseudo-worship songs we were performing anyway. Keep up the great work, everyone. I enjoy the knowledge I gain and the humor.
Sounds like you are more in tune with God's Holy Spirit than your Pastor's wife. It may be time to find a new church if they are hearing God speak to them, specifically. I have been saved and serving Christ by the Grace of God's Loving Son Jesus's Holiness for 62 years, and I have yet to hear the voice of God directly communicate with me. The King James Bible is my source of God, Jesus and the holy spirit informing, instilling and guiding me in my life's choices. What I will say is there are many people who profess Christianity who have very little biblical knowledge, and if they possess some biblical knowledge it can be misinterpreted and distorted. There is too much supplementation of personal ideologies by men and women that influence church doctrine, rather than God's Holy Word, floating around in many denominations. It is as if they wrote a ryder on scripture, like you would find on an insurance policy. We can not alter scripture to suit our own human existence. Be well.
Agreed with the comment above! Came here to say I hope you no longer go to that church. Personally, I don’t trust churches who sing anything outside of traditional hymns during actual service.😬
@@mattr.1887 We could ask whether Eve knew of stakes to more than two lives, in Eden? That may be a good area to test? I'm just floating it, for now, though. I'd also like 2 Samuel 24 maybe clarified, as it varies with 1 Chronicles 21, on wording, oftentime (on that very topic)
"God told me" can actually be true. We are not supposed to take their word for it. The Bible tells us to test the spirits. And there's also discerning of spirits.

Sadly, I am joining the conversation a little bit late. If there was a previous Wretched UA-cam video regarding silly slogans, I think I missed it. At any rate, here is one we need to can: "God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good." It annoys me because it's not in the Bible. Also, those who say it seem to have, IMHO, a sanctimonious chip on their shoulder. One might wonder: how many Christians have memorized this slogan, but have memorized few--if any--Bible verses? OK, let's concede that this slogan is in harmony with Scripture. But I say, let's be Biblical--specifically more Psalm-like--and say something like, "The LORD is good; His mercy endures forever."

@@tymurphy8564 Thank you for your question. Please read Galatians Chapters 1 and 2. In chapter 2 it is settled that James, Cephas (Peter), and John would go and preach to the Jews the gospel of the kingdom and Paul would preach to the Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God. There were Jews that were trying to get Paul's Gentile believers to be circumcised and follow the Law of Moses. That was settled in Galatians Chapter 2. Paul's mission was to preach to everyone if you remember what the Lord said to Ananias said in Acts 9:15 Acts 9:15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. If you remember Paul preached that Jesus Christ was the Son of God in the synagogues before he went to Arabia to receive (by divine revelation) the gospel of the grace of God. Below, I have written as to what the differences are between the gospel of the kingdom and the gospel of the grace of God. The Gospel of the Kingdom “and” The Gospel of the Grace of God The Gospel of the Kingdom In the New Testament, God tells of the two gospels. The first gospel is called the gospel of the kingdom. This gospel is written of in the books of Matthew through Mark, and Hebrews through Revelation. The second gospel is called the gospel of the grace of God. This gospel is written of in the 13 epistles of Paul. These books are Romans through Philemon. To believe the gospel of the kingdom, the Jews were to believe that Jesus was the Son of God and had come to earth to establish His earthly kingdom. In this gospel the Jews believed that Jesus Christ was their redeemer, messiah and king. The gospel of the kingdom is the gospel that Jesus Christ (while on earth) preached. This gospel of the kingdom is also the gospel that Peter and the 11 preached. The gospel of the kingdom is the “good news” that God would provide an earthly kingdom for His chosen people, the Jews. In fact, when Jesus Christ came to earth, the Jews had an opportunity to have this gospel be fulfilled. However, as the Bible tells us, the Jews rejected their king and thus rejected this gospel of the kingdom.
God knew that the Jews would reject this gospel and their king. As seen in the Book of Revelation, Jesus Christ will return to earth, defeat Satan and establish His kingdom on earth. This kingdom will start with Christ's 1000 year reign on earth, which is known as the Millennial Kingdom. Below are verses in which Jesus Christ refers to His “gospel of the kingdom,” and His kingdom. Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. This gospel was also known as the gospel of the kingdom of God as seen in Mark 1:14-15. Mark 1:14-15 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. We see in the Book of Matthew, that Matthew refers to this gospel of the kingdom as the gospel of the kingdom of heaven. We also see in Matthew 4:17 that Jesus Christ referred to His kingdom as the “kingdom of heaven,” and preached repentance for the “kingdom of heaven” is at hand. Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Below, are verses that explain how that the Jews were saved by believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. These verses tell us that the Jews were saved by believing in. on or through the name of Jesus. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. The Gospel of the Grace of God The gospel of the grace of God is the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection. God tells us of this gospel in I Corinthians 15:1-4. In this gospel we see that Jesus Christ died for our sins upon the cross, was buried and was resurrected three days later. We are saved by our belief in the gospel of the grace of God. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins upon the cross, was buried and was resurrected three days later. God gave this “gospel of the grace of God” to the entire world when the Jews rejected the gospel of the kingdom when they stoned Stephen to death and thus rejected the gift of the Holy Spirit which was given to those who believed the gospel of the kingdom, as seen in Acts Chapter 7. The word grace used as a doctrinal term is defined as “unmerited favor.” This means that we have done nothing to deserve God's mercy. It is only through our belief in what Jesus Christ has done on our behalf that God promises us hope of salvation. This hope of salvation becomes “salvation realized” when we believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried and was resurrected - it is just that simple. Jesus Christ only entrusted Paul to preach this gospel to us. Paul was given this gospel by divine revelation from Jesus Christ as seen in Galatians 1:12. Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Peter and the 11 were entrusted with the gospel of the kingdom, but only Paul was entrusted to preach the gospel of the grace of God. Below, we see where God tells us in I Corinthians 15:1-4 what is the “gospel of the grace of God.” I Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. Paul tells us in Acts 20:24 that he received his ministry to testify of the gospel of the grace of God, which he received from Jesus Christ. Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. Please tell others how easy and simple that it is to be saved under the gospel of the grace of God. Please tell them that once they believe this gospel they are then sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise until Christ redeems us.
For a future cliche video, can you make "God has a wonderful plan for your life" if you haven't already? I've read Ray Comforts opinion on it but I just wanna hear on here too 😆

Too many people read only the very first part of Matthew 7, and take it out of context. Read the first 4 verses as one, and remember, every time you point a finger at someone else, how many do you have pointing back at you? We must be able to exercise fair judgement in our everyday lives, but we must be hypocrites when we do so.

I did hear God. It was an amazing experience whilst crying my heart out listening to the bagpipes version of Amazing Grace. The amount of Joy I got from that cannot be explained with words. HOWEVER. Some false teachers like to take that and try to manipulate you into doing heresy. Side note unrelated to this comment: Beware of people who constantly end their sentences in "amen". They throw it around as if it has no meaning, and to them: "amen" has no meaning.
Wait a minute. Look at the still small voice thing “The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and walk along beside the carriage.”” Acts of the Apostles 8:29 Hmmm it might be true after all
You can't have relationship that's one sided with God. He speaks to us in that still voice through his Holy Spirit we just have go learn till hear. But sometimes, occasionally He speaks outloud, just as He always has. He communicates with us in many ways because its all about RELATIONSHIP with Him.
🤢 this reminds me of when I was visiting a new-age, progressive church. They quoted the “love your neighbor as yourself” verse and said Jesus really meant for us to give ourselves the same love we give others all the time.🤮

Why were the prophesies not coming true… even the ones that I would prophesy .. why couldn’t me and my ex husband heal our little boy who had club feet etc. then the “pastor” we had at the time would make all his sermons about people in our church instead of it being strictly about The Bible… so I left and took my babies with me. That so called pastor told my ex that a demon got me lol… sadly my ex is still apart of that cult… he’s lost in porn and false teaching and everything in between and is so deceived…
I also wondered why I wouldn’t fall back or speak in tongues like everyone and wondered if God even loved me lol… and then with the way my horrible marriage was I wondered to myself if we truly had God in our lives which clearly we didn’t
Oh and I should have mentioned that with all these questions I had in mind, I would pray a lot about God taking us out of deception if we were being deceived .. and He did!

I'm so glad the catholic church has comedians such as Todd Friel. We have so many cringe evangelly comedians out there. Todd Friel gives us solid information with a good laugh!
When i hear things like: Life is all about decisions, God is a God of love, God helps people who help themselves, the christian life is a life of gratitude,.....i always think, yes but much more should be said about that...
If you have a genuine relationship with God he will speak to you on a daily basis and not the way charlatans do it. Just because you don't hear from God anymore doesn't mean he doesn't speak to us daily 😂
Let's think here, in the New Testament the Spirit of God spoke to Paul for direction in ministry ,I can think of others. I have had instances as to where the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart about carrying out many tasks . I am studying the book of Romans and by the way I am using John MacArthur's commentary on Romans as a help, any way I keep on getting a prompting as to wanting study Romans with a Muslim. Has God given me a vision or am I just being deceived by my own desires, you be my judge?
You shouldn't seriously study the Bible with a satan worshipper/Muslim. You can share scriptures with them, tell them The Gospel and your testimony, but shouldn't do a Bible study in the sense where you are open to learn anything from them because the Bible says to turn away from people like that.
I have a couple of sayings >>> 1) The truest compass of life; is spiritual instinct. 2) Only one life, Twill soon be past; Only whats done for Christ will last. 3) this was a sticker I had on my motorbike helmet and it read; Christians are not perfect; Just Forgiven.🌻✝
About the topic of peace: 1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Galatians 5:22 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 2 Thessalonians 3:16 KJV Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. Philippians 4:7 KJV And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Peace is one way we can use discernment, to help us figure out what is the right thing to do. But be careful. Your flesh feels at peace with sinning but your spirit feels at peace with living righteously. If you break your mother's vase you're flesh will feel comfortable with lying about the accident but your spirit will know it's better to tell the truth and get in trouble so you'll feel God's peace with that. Now about God speaking to us: John 16:13 NASBS But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 1 John 4:1 NASBS Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. God has not changed, He still speaks to us. However, don't throw away your Bible thinking you'll just listen to the Holy Spirit. You need the Bible to know when the Holy Spirit is talking to you. If you want God to help you make a decision go to prayer and the Bible, reading about whatever talks about your situation. He has given us His Holy Spirit to lead us and teach us. Just make sure you know the voice of the Holy Spirit by studying God in the Bible and getting to know Him as your Heavenly Father! Make sure whatever is spoken lines up with the Bible completely. If there is one area that it doesn't line up with God's Word then it's not God. God's will is perfect, He doesn't need to go against a part of the Bible to complete another. It all goes together. Hope this makes sense
Not a slogan but, as I was informed after leaving a Pentecostal church, "Christianese"...I had a few women say they were going to "love on ya". Blargh! Sounds messy to me. Another thing some of the women in this church were notorious for was coming to me with messages from God for me. Huh? So, perfect God felt the need to give a message for me through dingaling you? I think not. It was a passive-aggressive control tactic women utilized to let another woman they saw something wrong with know how they felt through the guise of speaking on behalf of God.
I have a question about 1 Corinthians 12:10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues. Could you do a video on this subject ?? I think it would be interesting. I enjoy your videos 😊

@@---kv5kh I understand what you mean but the word "Cliche" is French in origin. In fact many words from the English language tend to be either Latin, Greek or French in origin as well as having our own words but that's ok because when you think about our historical make up it makes sense.
The only time I ever use “sow a seed” is when I’m speaking of God’s temporal wrath. I say that people do experience the ramifications of their own sin as and even suffer because of other people’s sins, so that they sow seeds of sin and reap wrath.
Here is one I hear as a pastor a lot from people at church. "If you really trusted God, you wouldn't need to have those eye surgeries or you wouldn't need us to pay you because God would take care of you." This is very specific to me but the point is the same, "If you trust God, nothing bad will happen to you" is the sentiment.
I disagree with that sentiment, God allows suffering in our lives so He can produce in us: endurance, character, and hope, because He loves us. (Romans 5:3-5)
Wow, yeah. What if God WANTS you to have eye surgery so you're there to witness to the surgeons and nurses and others at the hospital? What about praying about you're supposed to do? Not suffering is not part of the kingdom of God. "Enduring under" (hupomone) and peace (eirene) is.
The last one reminded me of a song I heard once. The refrain was (in part) “It’s more like fallin’ in love/ than something to believe in; More like losin’ my heart/ than pledging my allegiance . . . “ This rubbish is what has driven me away from “Christian” radio.
I want to respectfully disagree with your comments on the word "peace". This is clearly not an emotion in the context of the Bible. In both the Hebrew and the Greek, this word, Shalom and or eirene, are prominently written in a noun format. Therefore we must consider this a place in which one dwells as is provided by the author and finisher of our faith. The tie to Ephesians 6 where we are to have our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, shows us further that peace is a location. Interestingly enough, feet are a central subject through the entire Bible and when we see feet with shoes, without shoes, laces that belong to Jesus, and ties to the bronze feet of the alter in the tabernacle. This gets deeper and deeper! Amazing! So to keep ahold of this theme for contextual continuity, the emotions are all over the place. The consistent stable foundation is our location, which is peace. I can lose all things and be imprisoned yet my location (peace) never changes. That is not provided by me! That is provided by the Gospel! Wow! So so so cool! That is why we can face all things regardless of the emotional state. The ultimate definition is: the destruction of the authority that causes chaos. Now. That is amazing. I hope that this helps someone to look at a study of feet through the Bible. I would submit also, that feet, shoes, sandals, stone formations in the shape of feet even (archeologycan help you with this search), are a topic you can find in every book of the Bible. Thank you for reading some thoughts here.
It depends on how you use "cleanliness is next to godliness". John Wesley, in his Sermon "On Dress", which he gave around the year 1791: Let it be observed, that slovenliness is no part of religion; that neither this, nor any text of Scripture, condemns neatness of apparel. Certainly this is a duty, not a sin. "Cleanliness is, indeed, next to godliness." Wesley was pointing out that physical cleanliness, although to be encouraged, was not a religious requirement. There's nothing in the Bible that requires believers to be clean of body, only pure of heart. In Scripture, sin is associated with a lack of cleanliness, whereas redemption is linked with washing and purity. Washing is also used figuratively for the believer’s spiritual cleansing through the Word of God: “… Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:25-27, NIV). The apostle Paul described salvation in Jesus Christ and new birth by the power of the Holy Spirit as spiritual washing: “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5, NIV).

I read that as 'cly cheese'
May God Bless you, I appreciate your sense of humor along with your biblical knowledge. We need more laughter.

When you don't know what in the world someone is talking about: ⬆
I hear what you are saying, but you can't forget the fact about the gifts of the Spirit.

I am glad you covered these - this was a REEEEALLY good message and MUCH NEEDED for our current American culture !!
I love your straight forward approach. Thank you!
I go to Liberty University, and so many times we have had speakers do the sinners prayer at the end. It infuriates me, leading people to believe in a false conversion. However, the example you gave of the husband and wife was hilarious
There is a sinners prayer in the Bible. Romans 10:9-10
But yes the way false teachers like Joel Osteen do it is wrong.
Liberty u is too influenced by that sbc Thomas road church. Sound theology is sparse around there anyway.
Connor, praying for fruitful studies as you are at university! Thanks so much for watching & commenting!

You might want to study Romans 1:28-32 and ask yourself if it applies to you watching the actors and the actions in those films.
These videos were necessary. And the one about the cessation of gifts. Not a subscriber and not a calvinist but this was really good and helpful.

If He talks to you, you will know it. Assuming you aren't a nutcase
God spoke audibly in the Bible and to very few people that were actually prophets, not ordinary people . There’s no mention of “speaking into someone’s spirit “ or “inward impressions”. That is Gnostic heresy!
Ahhh, someone misquotes scripture, I usually ask them to tell me the whole passage or finish the sentence... and they never can.

@@sandraotero5521 Oooo, that's a good one!!
I wondered to myself, "Why is God telling her I should keep singing and not me?"
With the help of a speech therapist, over the course of about a year, I eventually recovered about 85% to 90% of my ability to sing.
That's how evangelical faith works. God can say anything to anyone. Who are you to question the pastor's wife? How do we know what God really said?
@@mattr.1887 We could ask whether Eve knew of stakes to more than two lives, in Eden? That may be a good area to test?
I'm just floating it, for now, though.
I'd also like 2 Samuel 24 maybe clarified, as it varies with 1 Chronicles 21, on wording, oftentime (on that very topic)
"God told me" can actually be true. We are not supposed to take their word for it. The Bible tells us to test the spirits. And there's also discerning of spirits.
I’m sure “where two or more are gathered” gets quoted out of context many times!
Absolutely!
Ugh yes so true! 😖
like right now, Matthew 18:20 (KJV) it says two or three are gathered

I've always hated the cliche "seek the kingdom first and all else will be added to you" as a justification for Benny Hinn, Copeland and the like to get rich off gifts given to them.
And it seems to always be stated with the first part rushed and jumbled, and the second part emphasized like, "SeekyefirstthekingdomofGodand ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU." lol A mess.
Hi guys if you wouldn’t mind I need prayer. A thought popped into my head today that went like this “I want to sin.” I am very convicted but this and I wish to be prayed for and to repent of this. Thank you guys
Ah, cleanliness is Not next to godlyness. My fiancee found that out a long time ago and shes the sweetest woman, for lovingly cleaning up after me, so I can be godly.😉 I praise the Lord for granting me the best women in the whole world🙏💖 Im so abundantly blessed together with her.💕🙌👑
I trust that your wife's cleaning up after your messes allows you to be a super productive individual that bears great fruit for the Lord's kingdom. If not, then you are just being irresponsible and lazy. If her efforts allow you to focus on your career in order to be successful, I trust you express to her your admiration and appreciation with not only loving words, but loving actions and special acknowledgments with something she enjoys, so she won't feel used or neglected.
The first time I met her outside of our job at the time, she came to our church and my sermon that day was about true love. I never could have expected that we'd find God's love in eachother
Yes, I am grateful and appreciative of her whole being and her willingness to clean up after me is a nice extra.
And thank God for the grace to bear fruit. Having a steady loving homebase increased my fruitfulness. And as she often says :" if you love me; what shows that love you love me counts much more that only saying you love me'
Sadly, I am joining the conversation a little bit late. If there was a previous Wretched UA-cam video regarding silly slogans, I think I missed it. At any rate, here is one we need to can:
"God is good, all the time; all the time, God is good."
It annoys me because it's not in the Bible.
Todd, what would we do without our slogans and cliche’s? No more t-shirts.
The sinner's prayer was the best, complete with the background music.
Could you include in an episode the charismatic cliche "on fire" and "anointed with excellency"?
Thanks for the suggestions!!
Ohhhhh, don't even get me started on "on fire". It's not just charismatics who say it, BTW. I haven't heard "anointed with excellency" (is "excellency" even a word???), but how about "We covet your prayers"? Just _ask_ us to pray for you. Don't "covet", please.

@@bama101010 If that were true then why wouldn’t Paul have rebuked Peter for teaching entirely?
@@tymurphy8564 Thank you for your question.
Please read Galatians Chapters 1 and 2. In chapter 2 it is settled that James, Cephas (Peter), and John would go and preach to the Jews the gospel of the kingdom and Paul would preach to the Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.
There were Jews that were trying to get Paul's Gentile believers to be circumcised and follow the Law of Moses. That was settled in Galatians Chapter 2.
Paul's mission was to preach to everyone if you remember what the Lord said to Ananias said in Acts 9:15
Acts 9:15
But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.
If you remember Paul preached that Jesus Christ was the Son of God in the synagogues before he went to Arabia to receive (by divine revelation) the gospel of the grace of God.
Below, I have written as to what the differences are between the gospel of the kingdom and the gospel of the grace of God.
The Gospel of the Kingdom “and” The Gospel of the Grace of God
The Gospel of the Kingdom
In the New Testament, God tells of the two gospels.
Matthew 9:35
And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
This gospel was also known as the gospel of the kingdom of God as seen in Mark 1:14-15.
Mark 1:14-15
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Below, are verses that explain how that the Jews were saved by believing in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. These verses tell us that the Jews were saved by believing in. on or through the name of Jesus.
John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
John 2:23
Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
John 3:18
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
The Gospel of the Grace of God
The gospel of the grace of God is the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection.
Galatians 1:12
For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Peter and the 11 were entrusted with the gospel of the kingdom, but only Paul was entrusted to preach the gospel of the grace of God. Below, we see where God tells us in I Corinthians 15:1-4 what is the “gospel of the grace of God.”
I Corinthians 15:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
Acts 20:24
But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Please tell others how easy and simple that it is to be saved under the gospel of the grace of God. Please tell them that once they believe this gospel they are then sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise until Christ redeems us.
The sinner's prayer example really nails the problem with it. Nice work
Liz, thanks for watching! Glad that little skit helped out. We had fun shooting it.

Cliché: You shouldn’t be upset with them “sinners are going to sin” (or as some say it “heathens gonna heath”)
😂
If they are open to a genuine study, why not? If they think to disprove it, I would say it depends on how well you know your scripture.
It's the Philippians 4:6 amendment: "... by prayer and supplication with the word 'just' let your requests be made known to God."
2:21 Hmm... I thought that was "Jesus Calling." No? Ok. I stand corrected. 🤣
"The Lord won't put on you more than you can bear"
This man has been TAUGHT to NOT LISTEN... that is Not how the Holy Spirit works !!!
We are NO DIFFERENT than the saints of old.
About the topic of peace:
1 Corinthians 14:33 KJV
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Galatians 5:22 KJV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
2 Thessalonians 3:16 KJV
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
Philippians 4:7 KJV
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Now about God speaking to us:
John 16:13 NASBS
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.
1 John 4:1 NASBS
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Also, the verse refers to ‘the love of money’ not money in and of itself 4:09
Doris Day!!! Lol great video, sir!
Two things 1) rofl to to the skit about the sinners prayer, 2) I'm surprised you didn't play the famous Paul washer quote about it.
As a Catholic, I am happy to be in the happy medium between the Reformed “God only speaks through Scripture” and the Evangelical-Pentecostal “God told me to do ____ “
hello I live in Spain, I tried to buy the joy in the home bundle, and the shipping doubles the cost or more (45€). So, I was wondering if I may buy the joy in the home bundle, but instead of sending me the books, could you send me the digital version of them. Is that possible?
I surely will love to take advantage of the offer, please help!!

In the UK we pronounce it the French way "Clee-shays" Clichés 😅 "Cly shees" reminds me of lychees. 😂
He knows the correct pronunciation it is a joke.
@@littlemary2840 My comment was a light-hearted one. Not to mention it contained no judgement.
We pronounce it correctly because English is from England 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 clee shay... Not spelling it phonetically though. Lol
@@---kv5kh I understand what you mean but the word "Cliche" is French in origin. In fact many words from the English language tend to be either Latin, Greek or French in origin as well as having our own words but that's ok because when you think about our historical make up it makes sense.
"Got put it/this in/on my heart."
@@ladyalaya I totally agree with you! Oh yea I am also BiPolar.
Wow, yeah. What if God WANTS you to have eye surgery so you're there to witness to the surgeons and nurses and others at the hospital? What about praying about you're supposed to do? Not suffering is not part of the kingdom of God. "Enduring under" (hupomone) and peace (eirene) is.
Forget cliche how about cringy
The last one reminded me of a song I heard once. The refrain was (in part)
“It’s more like fallin’ in love/ than something to believe in;
More like losin’ my heart/ than pledging my allegiance . . . “
This rubbish is what has driven me away from “Christian” radio.
Lol I will always say that word like Todd does now
🙄
Hey! Could you please do a video about what the Bible has to say about “The Law of Attraction?” It would be cool to see a video of your view on it. :)
Thanks for the suggestion Crystal! Make sure to keep watching 😄

Don't you know that God helps those who help themselves Todd? I've heard this one a lot!
Oh yeah, that was in our last collection of Christian Cliches! Watch here: ua-cam.com/video/W__9FlbvPQ8/v-deo.html
John Wesley, in his Sermon "On Dress", which he gave around the year 1791:
Let it be observed, that slovenliness is no part of religion; that neither this, nor any text of Scripture, condemns neatness of apparel. Certainly this is a duty, not a sin. "Cleanliness is, indeed, next to godliness."
Wesley was pointing out that physical cleanliness, although to be encouraged, was not a religious requirement. There's nothing in the Bible that requires believers to be clean of body, only pure of heart.
In Scripture, sin is associated with a lack of cleanliness, whereas redemption is linked with washing and purity. Washing is also used figuratively for the believer’s spiritual cleansing through the Word of God:
“… Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:25-27, NIV).
The apostle Paul described salvation in Jesus Christ and new birth by the power of the Holy Spirit as spiritual washing:
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5, NIV).
