Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for as I prepare to buy my first hole saws and I want to make sure I get one that fits my newfangled cordless drill that isn’t particularly big compared to the old school ones.
I had trouble keeping my saw tight, because the rubber O-Ring worked itself lose, and the vibration loosened the saw and it was unscrewing itself. I had to really tighten that rubber ring down tight, pretty flat, actually! Got the project done, and learned quite a bit! Not bad for 75 years old man, standing on the floor, drilling holes in the ceiling, with two 18” extensions x 7/16”, by Milwaukee. Too damned old for ladders! Been doing things by myself for decades, but it’s getting harder, and dangerous! Thanks for the help!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
That was great thanks. My hole saw didn't come with instructions. This is exactly what I needed. Saw in another video that some times pumping it up and down to release the sawdust will help if it's cutting slow. And that you need to start on the fastest drill setting on the Dewalts. Thanks again!

Helped a lot. how to get a clean cut hole without splinter if you cant the wood, in my case is a had crafted "How glass shape" word with intention to drill hole in the mid center on the Side of it. How to do this not to get a splitter on the inside of it. I am thinking adding Duck tap on the inside.? Thank you in advance.
If these big, giant, experienced carpenters say it's tricky, it catches, you can hurt your wrists, get kickback... what hope is there for a beginner (trying to put in a 4" vent through a 2" joist and exterior wall)?
I need to do something similar for my shed. I want add two 4" circular vents on it and need to cut into the siding and through the sheathing. I'm thinking of using my cordless DeWalt mixing drill instead while using the 4" hole saw as the drill has an anti torsion feature on it. I don't own a hole hawg so the mixing drill will be okay and as close as I can get with the torque I will need. I have other DeWalt drills but they don't have anti torsion on them and I don't own the new hammer drill they just released that has it which is the DCD1007. I once thought the DCD996 and DCD999 had anti torsion but I don't believe they do. I realize another way around that is just to stay off drill mode and choose a clutch setting.

Thank you for a very good instructional video. Just a question, if you need to cut a 6" hole with a hole saw in 1.5" thick pine wood, would you use a larger drill with a 1/2" chuck, or will the smaller drill with a 3/8" chuck do the job? Thanks.
Any of the 18v or 20v larger drills with a side handle. It will be a work out for that size drill but most home owners aren’t going to want a really large drill just setting around to never be used again. Makita 18v drill has the largest(longest) side handle but their Fairly pricey to the completion. I think Home Depot rent these drills.
Sadly i got to Drill a 6" Hole into some kind of DryWall (I say some kind because it feels like its Mush Carboard feel on the teeth) Now this is on the Ceiling but i can drill it before the DryWall goes up. The ones i had to drill while on the Ceiling the Drill Knocked me off my Step a few times.. and on the Floor its Wondered and my elbow and hands are black and blue. Because its DryWall on a Frame for the Ceiling i cant Lay on the board to get any thing Close to my body.. So im stuck and in Pain (managers dont want to know)
I feel for you. Even though drywall drills easily it can grab sometimes especially while you are on a ladder. What I’ve found is if you can keep the drill from moving around the hole saw has less of a tendency to bind and throw you. Drilling over head is not easy and then you put a ladder into the mix😕. Be safe.
for the plywood you fade out before dude runs it bakwards, or don't include it at all, then when he starts the cut you only show him already cutting, the most challenging thing with a hole saw it seems it starting and continuing a cut, which you refused to show , so frustraing

Numbers are hard-my Milwaukees all have 1/2" chucks so I can use any arbor.Good video

I was hoping to learn how to empty those damn things. They can become realy stuck, especially if drilling trough moist wood or aluminium.

Your going to need the larger drill. Mainly for protecting yourself. Larger drills will have a longer side handle saving you from injury.

Actually we do prefer the Lenox but the other brands do a great job as well. Milwaukee has a great arbor sold separate that I’ll do a video on.
