You can tell they cared about the fans when they returned Bros Attacks, made references to past games with the reefs, added that side quest where Starlow sees Bowser and he calls her “chippy” and the Birdo cameos
Yeah, when playing through Brothership, you can clearly tell that Acquire did their research into the other games. There are lots of cool references to the previous games and it also feels like a good amount of Brothership's elements are inspired from the previous games. It's good to hear that they're trying to do what the fans want instead of being excessively stubborn about it for no good reason, like with some of the previous modern Mario RPGs. The one thing is that them almost giving up on the Mario & Luigi series before reaching out to Acquire makes me a bit more concerned about the possible Sony acquisition. I'm not sure if there's anyone else they have in mind to work on the series if that goes through.
Perhaps with the online feedback and by multiple miracles they don't get acquired and that the game has sold just enough to justify a new game then MAYBE they can create a better M&L game that can truly reach its full potential. @@marioandultrachap
11:21 this statement is a plus. This could mean they can listen to whatever criticism they have considered, then the next game could be the best as well.
Despite what you said I have seen people arguging the opposite with the interviews on Reddit. Like "making 40+ new songs including cutscenes but not one for unique boss themes" and "the decision of not asking for a certain composer to make the music is deliberate". Really strange times there.
Okay the game not having unique boss themes is more of a missed opportunity than anything cuz the previous games doesn’t have that either lmao. Hell this game is the first Mario and Luigi game to have 2 boss themes so it’s funny this one gets criticized the most for the boss theme variety
@@slayerstarx7109 Yes and no. Two boss themes for the regular bosses is more than usual, but major villains who aren't the final boss don't have unique themes, where in previous games they did (Cackletta and Popple in SS, Bowser in PIT, Antasma in Dream Team). To the point that a fakeout final boss didn't fool me for a second because the Great Lighthouse Boss theme played instead of a unique one. It's a minor issue for me personally though, I love both boss themes.
I don't like the "They almost gave up on the series" part, more now knowing that the game is not doing so good and Acquire is getting bought by Sony is just worrisome. . . I just don't want to lose this series for another 9 years.
No? The mario and luigi brothership sold well, again this where only the first week sales not the whole sales Also Sony did not bought Acquire yet since sony was about to buy the japanese company And don't worry the series would still be going
I don't either but at the same time I get it the series has been running for 20 years now it can't go on forever either lol. Its been about that long since we had a new Starfox game at least one that continues in the series.
Lets put think about Kadokawa straight: They are on an uncomfortable debate between Sony and Kadokawa. Kadokawa is asking for a full buyout , not only videogames and anime (manga, movies, etc). The problem for Sony is that they only want its Greater share that is the anime and the videogames, mainly because is extremely expensive considering It cost 4B and they are buying another companies. Now, being harder to getting bought by Sony is not exactly good news, as they are still a victim of a hostile takeover by Kakao, which plans to buy as many actions to get full control without the owner consent.
Honestly the second one seems ALOT More lovely and cute than her current design, because although it's cute in its own Regard, she kinda blends in with the other, and I think also this second design could give her more to do, or even give her stretch power cuz she much more cable looking.
The story part is definitely the most important part of the interview. I'm REALLY hoping Paper Mario 7 can write a more cohesively meaningful story. Origami King had those moments but often minimized these in favor of the laugh-out-loud moments. Don't get me wrong, those moments were really good, but a funny moment won't stick as much as something that hits you in the heart (hence people remember Bobby more for his heroic sacrifice than any individual joke). As long as the next Paper Mario gets that story, as well as visuals and OST (TOK and TTYD do the music so well, they managed to surpass some Mario & Luigi games), I'll be good with essentially any other decision Intelligent Systems makes.
I could tell the team cared about the series and fans just by listening to the music. Tracks like the great lighthouse dungeon, lottacoins building, and many others feel right at home alongside the rest of the series, and felt so much like they came out of partners in time, or other games in the series. Even the visual design of the areas and dungeons just FEEL like the older games. Its really hard for me to explain why, there were just certain parts that made me feel like I was playing partners in time, or bowsers inside story again.
Interesting you say that about the remakes. Cause While i was happy for the remake of Superstar saga I was REALLY concerned about the series when we first started getting remakes rather than new games. Generally when thats happens that usually a tail sign that the series may be in trouble and it looks like my hunch wasn't too wrong about that especially happened with alphadream. I did kind of see something bad coming down the pipeline with the series but I kind of thought after the remakes were Mario and Luigi would just fade away and the remakes were kind of like a secret goodbye to the series without telling us directly though I didn't expect it to go bankrupt.
My only real complaints was the lack of post game, the framerate, and the music, I hope they bring the old composer back, don't get me wrong I love the boss theme, but it's nothing like Dream Teams boss fight music
The only thing I’m worried about is the weird controls for Luigi and the frame rate, but a lot of those things are easily fixable and I’ve gotten over most of the worry Can’t wait to play
Honestly the weird controls for Luigi aren't that big an issue. It's kind of annoying at first, but the game is long so you just sorta get used to it. Like, if that's the biggest issue then the game is fine.
I've finished it and I can say that you will enjoy it. Yes, the framerate can chug in a couple of places, but they're nowhere near as big an issue as some people have been making it (it's mostly just on Shipshape Island once you get some islands and more NPCs walking around on it).
Brothership definitely isn't perfect. It left me wanting for more and the pacing didn't feel great. But it's definitely a good game and a worthy successor of the better one of the series.

No they did not care about the fans they did what they wanted over what worked thats why sales are low and all the people that are trying to love this game are unable to explain why the sales are low
because games have no value other than how well they sell amirite gamers??? in all seriousness just because a game “doesn’t sell well” doesnt automatically make it bottom of the barrel scum. Pikmin never sold “well” until 4 dropped, and even then those games are almost universally beloved.
I am respectfully wondering if you’ve even played this game because Brothership has exactly “what worked” for the previous Mario & Luigi games. A good battle system, engaging story, expressive characters, I really don’t know what you mean. It’s not like the modern Paper Mario games where they completely threw out the formula that fans liked in favor of something completely different. Plus, that has nothing to do with why the sales are low, the average consumer (which is the vast majority of sales for this game) just sees this game as another Mario RPG. The only reason why sales seem low is because gaming news sites clickbaited the hell out of that one report from Japan which was understandably low because it was right before the release of Dragon Quest III HD2D, a game that was massive in Japan.
Mate.. just for an example... Pokémon Black and White have been called so many times "the best Pokemon entry of the series", and yet BW and B2W2 is one of the lowest copies sold out of the main generation games. Heck, in the eyes of Nintendo, a sales can be considered good even when it's low. I mean Pikmin 4? It only sold around 3 million copies, and yet Nintendo considers that "a great success". Nintendo scales success with each franchise's numbers. Mario & Luigi isn't exactly one of Mario's bestsellers. I mean the highest they ever got was 2.15 million. And those numbers for Brothership? That's just for physical Japanese copies. We still got no clue about the digital releases.
