its really interesting that she uses the neutrogena hydro-boost gel, i didn't like it because it has so much dimethicone it gives your skin that silicone-primer feel. just a heads up for anyone planning to purchase
@@Lili-kr4pj Nope, dimethicone is the best occlusive for acne-prone skin. It is non-comedogenic and allows the skin to breathe while trapping in hydration preventing trans-epidermal water loss.
@@Lili-kr4pj Susan's 'controversial skincare ingredients' video and blog did suggest staying away from silicone if you have oily/acne-prone skin. But in that, Dr Nina disagreed and said it was fine
Silicone or any occulsives for that matter help with trans epidermal loss. I used to use non silicone free products and realised that my skin used to stay hydrated but only for a short time period, emollients and occulsives in moisturisers or in your last step will really help with sealing everything in. It just depends on how the product is formulated. I love cosrx snail mucin cream as my moisturiser as it has humectants, occulsives and emollients!
Many dermatologists said it’s a type of physical exfoliator. Can be more suitable for dry and sensitive skins compared to using chemical exfoliator. But definitely not using every night like she suggested.

It's funny how in this same channel Susan doesen't recommend micellar water AT ALL for double cleansing but here a DERMATOLOGIST recommends it... It might be because Susan has a drier skin type and Dr. Desai has oily skin.
Yes,you are right it might be like that because of her skin type. But it’s actually important to double cleanse when you are using micellar water, that’s what Susan likes to point out
@@КатеринаГайова-г8ц a double cleanse doesn't necessarily mean cleansing with a cleansing oil/balm first and then a regular cleanser...it's just the gold standard cause kbeauty, where the practice orginal came from uses cleansing oil/balms. Micellar water and regular cleanser also come under the practice of double cleansing. The reason why some people don't recommend them is cause oils/balms get emulsified and clean the skin better so they are definitely the best option and many people who use micellar water don't follow up with a regular cleanser later which defeats the whole purpose and is almost like using makeup wipes to move stuff around your face.
The amount of retinol she used was so tiny how in the world did she spread that all over her face?! I try to use as less as possible while still covering my whole face.
a trick that helps a little in reducing the amount you use (she also does it in the video) is to directly dot the product on your face after you measure out the amount you want to use, for thicker products I use my fingers and for thinner ones I put them in my palm and use my index finger to dot on my face and then spread using three fingers, don't rub your hands together, I feel like it's a waste of product, also gently spread and then tap your face gently (I don't know if it's efficient but I feel that this way the placement is more even) Hope this is helpful but also makes sense :)

Both AHA and retinol can be drying to the skin and a both Foreo and a cleansing brush ARE mildly exfoliating. So if you aren’t verrrrry careful, you can strip your barrier and cause more sensitivity and acne. I wouldn’t use an AHA and retinol (both are chemical exfoliants as well) with a brush or foreo because that’s too much exfoliation all together. And putting oils like jojoba or grape seed oil can balance the oil production that’s being disrupted by so much stripping. I wouldn’t recommend this routine to anyone with dehydrated skin or skin that’s actively breaking out.
Shes not recommending this routine to anyone tho. Its her routine and what her skin can handle. Most people's routine would be problematic for a different individual. 😁
