- The working from home YJ needed a quieter exhaust, so I ordered one up from Quadratec. I’m m hoping to find someone 19 or under to buy this Jeep as their first 4x4 since its such a solid little jeep.

I can't believe how clean the underside of that YJ is. Everything I find around me is rusted to hell.
I loved my 77 Cj7 with that 304, 3 speed and side pipes. It was FUN!
Bought my son a 94 YJ almost 6 years ago now. Now my 2nd son drives it. 230+ on it. PO rebuilt the motor and I put a new transmission in it. The 4 banger is tuff! Burns oil and rattles like a coffee can full of nuts at 65+ but what a great time we’ve had working on it.
when I bought my 94 YJ with a 4 cyl years ago it had a single chamber FlowMaster and it was obnoxious! I changed it to a simalar muffler and it was the best thing I did until I installed 4.88s in it! Great vehicle for a youngster to get started on.
absolutely i have a 4.0 with a 3 speed auto and by far such a fun jeep jus safety issues with not having airbags and wranglers look like a 3 year old folded cloths after a accident
A perfect jeep for my grandson. Will be driving in 2 1/2 years.
Hey Fred! I know this is a REALLY long shot but my TJ spun a bearing 7 years ago and I’ve been wanting to drive the thing again since then. I’ve got a good story to go along with it (I believe it is at least) and it could be a good series on your channel for Dirt Daily. I live in Humboldt county, the Jeep is in the Sacramento area and I’ve kind of fallen on some hard times financially. I’d love to be a part of your content as well as getting my Jeep back on the trails. It needs an engine and some maintenance and I really want to include my family as well if that would be all right. I would be eternally grateful to you personally for it and you would always have a place to stay at our place. I make mead and you’re welcome to some as well. I’ve truly enjoyed Dirt Every Day with you and Dave as well as the latest content on Dirt Daily. Truly an honest and humble fan.
Very cool to offer the jeep to a youngster. When I was younger i bought an XJ for $800 and built it to be a crawler over the course of like 10 years. Learned alot about working on cars with that jeep. Hard to find deals like that these days.
Also the way that O2 sensor came out made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Love when a plan comes together

Love that you want a young person to own that yj! I am 21 now and when i was 15 my first purchase ever was my 1995 yj it was thar colour white, it isnso fun i will never sell it,
I did this to my 95 but I put a high flow cat with a shorty Magnaflow muffler that comes out under the jeep just in front of the rear axle. Sounds amazing and runs like new!
I have a 1995 rio grande. I love it. Even the gutless 2.5. I drive it daily.
What!! Not sold yet? I wish I knew a kid younger that mine. Bought my oldest a Jeep as his first vehicle. Best thing for a kid! Can’t speed, can’t text and drive, and topless; not to mention - Fun and easy to learn to work on. BTW - Marvel Mystery Oil will do it! I’ve used it in old vehicles and it works!
An old timer I know restores tractors, his trick to get things free is you take the engine and throw it in the pond for a few weeks. Fresh water won’t make rust, it will free up
Use 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone in the 304 cylinders. Some people use "Free All", it works well on rusted solid bolts but I've never used it on locked up engines.
We all see that old motor was well kept and out of the elements !😂😃😁

I'm with you Fred on the quiet exhaust system on your Jeeps, but I have good luck with #cherrybomb Mufflers, a nice little rumble while puttin' around on the trails but a louder sound when you party with the skinny pedal! Plus they Cherry Bombs are cheap! Great Video...

Nicely done. It's been 43 years since was 19, so I will have to pass. If you would give the stuck motor one more chance, empty the fuel out and pour in a 50/50 mixture of transmission fluid and acetone. I have used it from bolts to motors to break up rust. If not enough, double it. Marvel Mystery oil works fairly well but the price of the trans fluid and acetone makes it more economical.
Wish I was 19, have a Subaru for the winters and highways in Colorado but want to get into some off-roading fun during the summers😅

Gas and transmission fluid works wonders
ATF would have probably worked a bit better than the diesel. My dad and I got a completely seized ‘53 Willy’s Tornado 6 freed up with about 7 or so pumps of atf from an old style oil can. Took about a day of soaking but by the end of day 2 we had the carb rebuilt and the engine running. My 17 year old daughter is dreaming of a first vehicle…
Also, those tubing expanders work a bit better if you spray a little wd-40 on them. Keeps the hole more round.

If you're not careful, you will make it so nice you won't want to sell it.
You need to get some Prolube oil additive. I use it on everything and it works better than penetrating oil
Brake fluid is supposed to break them free. Old guy from a machine shop told me about it.

I have a 93 yj look’s just like yours! I love that jeep! I wonder how hard it would be to put power steering in it? Mine doesn’t have power steering either. Mine is a little 4 cylinder

Does CA Emissions do a physical check of the exhaust system, or just a sniff test? I can't see where at least having a cat installed is a bad thing... But, it is Kalifornia.. 😆
I'd like to get into four-wheeling. But I'm not young. Fred that's age discrimination. Lol I'd love to try my hand at four wheeling. But I'm 64 and I guess you don't like old people Fred lol
50/50 ATF and Acetone
My first Jeep was a 89 YJ with the 6. Great little vehicle. I have a 2000 Cherokee with the 4.0 now. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix a engine with sludge? Oil pump was changed and old one was filled with sludge. Still reading low oil pressure.
Next try white distilled vinegar. The vinegar eats the rust

Hey Fred. I know people always ask you to sell your stuff and I don’t like being “that guy” but I gotta shoot my shot. I’m a blacksmith from Wisconsin and I have been trying to find an anvil the size that you currently have and if you are willing I would pay you for it. Or if it’s more to your liking I have an 84 yota pickup with the original 22r in it I would trade even though it would break my heart. Message me if you’re interested. If not thanks for your consideration. Also more clampy videos? Best truck in the fleet in my opinion 😉
Do you still us the off roadrunner? I saw it in the background. I heard marvel mystery oil is better for seized engines.
I was about to ask what was up with that engine, I had my doubts if it was going to work, sorry it did not.
Wondering what Fred want me for the YJ as I have a 17year old son without his first car yet.
How much did this job cost you? Parts etc.. and How much if you know. Would it of cost you if took it in to an Auto garage?
Doesn't really seem like a great exhaust, as far as being a bolt on kit. You had to do a good amount of cutting/grinding/welding to get it to work. At that point, why not just weld in the Cali catalytic convertor?

the loudness of the exhaust should match the power of the engine.
I have a 95 YJ with the same engine. It starts stalling when warm on take off. Any ideas why?
Anyone knows if we can drop the down pipe with the catalic coverter in one piece on 91 yj 4l ? Got to do the same thing on my jeep in the coming days. it would make work way easier.....
