When my kid turned 16, I got him a manual 4cyl TJ! Best thing for a kid! Easy to learn to work on, FUN and you can’t speed and you can’t text! If I had another 16 year old,I would buy it! Especially since Fred owned and worked on it (won’t sell you trash).
I really like the little yj just the way it is. I really wish I could swing it, and then road trip it from California to Georgia, stopping off at National Parks and Forests along the way.
When I first started getting into off-roading I had looked into a wrangler, but I couldn't find any that were cheap enough (5-8k) and they were all out of my budget. Hence why I drive an Isuzu. I've always like the yj square headlights. Looking good Fred. Hoping to see a new video with you an Dave in it soon!
Hope it finds a good home. A solid YJ is getting hard to find now. My 12 year old daughter and I fixed one up and she loved it. We recently sold it though and she will not let me live that one down. She understands, but still picks at me. I have good pictures of her driving it though. The memories are priceless. Good luck finding a new home for the YJ. It's a nice Jeep for sure.
I had a 91 for my first jeep. Had to sell it to pay the bills. I miss that little jeep. My kids and I would take the doors off and cruise the roads and trails.
Top looks great, that dang cold weather is a pain in the rear when dealing with those dang tops. Seems like I usually wait till it's getting colder out before I put my boat top on, same deal. Just a little tip, if you're using a propane heater like that. Slide the tank into a milk crate, still be careful but it'll be a little more stable. Great video, Keep em coming, that crate thing keeps them from rolling around the back of the truck when taking them to get filled.
Here from California also the rain is warn it's welcome this year. I couldn't help but notice the @Cal4wheel trailer very exciting your building it this year.
I’d be really interested in getting this Jeep for my great nephew for his first Jeep. It looks like a good foundation for a project Jeep for him to learn to work on. We are a Jeep family. Me and my daughter both have LJ’s and the wife has a Commander. If the price is right I’d be interested. We are in Ohio and are big fans of you and Dave. My great nephew that we have every other week visitation with is really into our Jeeps. I know he would love and appreciate having a Jeep of his own to work on and fix up by the time he turns 16. My uncle had a 95 YJ for years that inspired me to getting my first Jeep in 01’ and I’ve had a Jeep in my life ever since.
I’ve never been a huge Jeep guy but they have massive following and parts galore . If I were to get one it would have to be something similar that you are working on . Cheers .
I'm no kid but I'm from MI and would road trip that back wheeling so the way, death valley, North side of Grand canyon, Moab, Colorado, cornfields in Iowa and Nebraska... Back to the UP. I'd film it all and you could do an episode on it. My first jeep was a white 89 YJ, 2.5L, 5 speed. I put 30x9.5 Daytona radial stags on it, I remember they were like $80 a tire. This was back in 1997ish
Fred ! Help me fulfill my dream of having a 4x4. Ive never had one , ive always wanted one mostly now for just hitting the trails. HELP ME FRED HELP ME. I'm on a tight budget and everything about this jeep screams my name
Just a suggestion but maybe you could make a cool intro for your videos after you make it once then all you have to do is paste it into each video when your editing, it could help with brand recognition (kinda like how Cletus McFarland has a iconic intro), also edit in some overlay music in the videos it’ll help fill the silent gaps. I like all your videos though buddy 🤙 keep up the good work! I loved dirt everyday and I will definitely be watching all of yours and Dave’s videos!
hey my dad and i have been building a cherokee but we just sold our jk so now i don’t have a top down jeep to drive. i’m a sophomore with her license and a lot of good trails out here in gifford pinchot to explore on. i’d be interested in buying it
Hey my friend, 18:33 Where you installed the windows, I'm on 1988 Jeep Wrangler I had the half windows with those two screws that bolt in to keep the windows on the door so when I went to put in the windows like you have with the soft top they won't go all the way down Do you know if there is a bolt welded into the door for the old screws?
I'm curious how much you want for your yj Fred I had one in the past it was a 1992 yj I sold it 2 years ago for a spare body chevy and got screwed over with the title on the truck it wasn't in his name long story short I bought a truck with a bad title and pretty much parted it out and junk it bought a F250 highboy 1975 a year ago took it out to haspin acres Laura Laura indiana love the highboy but thinks time for a new project
Right at 18:35 you press on the window to set it in place. The entire Jeep rocked. It shouldn't do that. The shocks appear to need replacing. Otherwise, I wish I could have it. It would make a good Jeep for a beginner, but they need to know the 4 cylinder is not for racing. The interior looks like an upgrade. If the engine is decent, and the frame is clean and rust free, I'd say a fair price should be $4-6K.
My 95 is my first project and I will be buried in it! YJ life is amazing and I can't see not loving it forever! Thank you Fred for the YJ love!

I remember that YJ soft top. Hated that thing. My thumbs formed calluses pressing on those snap buttons.
I really like the little yj just the way it is. I really wish I could swing it, and then road trip it from California to Georgia, stopping off at National Parks and Forests along the way.

Great project idea for you, white wagoneer and call it "crew sock". Or maybe even a jku or jlu.

Looks like you need a snap-on truck to swing by and fix that philips screwdriver for you! Neat and informative video about the SuperTop
That top really made it come together! I had a Bestop on a Suzuki Samurai that was a very great product.
