My daughter is taking several meds for schizophrenia. She was also on Ativan for a couple of years until her doctor just decided one day not to give it to her. At first she seemed fine until a few months later she started having these psychotic episodes where she would shake and scream like she was on fire. I suspected she was going through Ativan withdrawals. She was hospitalized last week and the doctor ended up giving her Ativan. She was back to "normal". I hope one day in the future she can be weaned off all of these meds but right now she "needs" the Ativan just to function. Thanks for posting this vid:)

Even physicians who have phony degrees know that a person taking ativan will experience withdrawal symptoms upon abrupt discontinuation. What quack did this? Ativan was probably the safest and most effective medicine that she was taking!!

Life is a journey not a destination. Learning and teaching how to meditate rather than medicate. Moving from our minds to our inner soul we awaken our inner peace we will continue to be drawn to like minded people. Love & Peace no more Hate or War.Tim Nolan

Big pharma and the fda are absolutely the worst combination of corrupt/evil ever encountered. The latest fda leader Mary Hamburg is just a complete disaster and corrupt as all get put, the entire system is beyond flawed and has destroyed lives...mine included. Once you are damaged by these drugs it's game over
      Peace

Unlike other medical conditions, individuals suffering from obvious symptoms of psychosis/mania, can be a danger to themselves or others and these individuals may be legally forced into psychiatric treatment/drug therapy.
The British Medical Journal published guidelines for Best Practice Assessment of Psychosis.
These guidelines help doctors rule out underlying medical conditions/exposure to substances that are known to induce symptoms of psychosis/mania.
It is not safe to leave a patient in a psychotic state and expect recovery.
It is not safe and it is not fair to label a person suffering from psychosis as "mentally ill" and only offer drug therapy.
It is in the best interest of the patient and public safety that all individuals treated for symptoms of psychosis/mania are provided with treatment options that include testing for possible underlying causes.
In order to fix our broken mental health care system, a unified advocacy agenda that promotes best practice standards of care is greatly needed.
The failure to recognize and treat the underlying causes of psychosis/mania jeopardizes not only the health of the patient, but also the health, safety and welfare of the public.
Best practice assessment is a third option to the debate between drugs/no drugs and it is the best options.
