My favourite Ramza setup is Squire with Talk skill as his secondary. He has good class multipliers for it, and he is one of the few special units that has better-than-average MA growth (without becoming a Mime). Between the wide variety of effects he has access to with this skillset, and the vast array of items he can equip, he is very well rounded and versatile.
For my second playthrough, I started off with really high faith on three of my 6 generics. They had all visited every job on the chemist side of the tree. Meanwhile, I had Ramza continue to be a Squire the entire time. All he knew was Guts, Potion and Phoenix down.
Eventually I realized I wanted to do more with him. He is the main character after all. He needed his niche.
That's when I saw it. Ramza had unlocked Mediator without ever leaving his starting class. It was perfect. 2 of the 5 abilities unique to Ramza were already styled after the unique talk skill animations. It even aligned with his behavior in the story. Talk first, resort to combat after all else fails. It all fit together perfectly.
I never realized how naturally a Mediator would fit his character, thanks for sharing Magic! 🙌
High Faith and Bravery Black Mage Ramza with Draw Out, Blade Grasp, a good cape, and move+3.
- Virtually Impossible to hit with physical attacks and could shrug off magic attacks when they land
- Draw Out skills deal or heal 999 instant AoE damage and had a Protect/Shell buff
- Substitute Move+3 for teleport on some maps
The draw back is that it was costly to keep a good stock of Samurai weapons, but at end-game when doing the Cloud side-quest, it doesn't matter one little whit. This was the Ramza I used to beat Serpentarius.
The party I used was Ramza, Orlandeau, Agrias, Beowulf, and Reis.
I can totally see Ramza as the heart of the squad dishing out buffs and heals while the rest of the party lays out the damage! Great build idea, thank you for sharing Duran! 🙏

Ramza the best final fantasy protag. After I learn artithmatics it is hard for me to put it down even before I would spam shout of Jp and speed farming.

I grinded out dark knight on phone iOS game (no way to cheat) by the end of chapter 2, but had to use passive JP and a bit of de-leveler traps to keep the levels under control (under level 20). Then for my dark knight builds I found darkness with time magic secondary as really strong until you get permanent haste effects, ramza can just haste himself to make up for DK’s slow speed. Or else I liked ninja dual wielding swords with darkness secondary and equip sword support, when I wanted to level up as ninja for speed growth. Or else squire with darkness secondary and attack up for tougher fights/storyline battles

In addition, he can manage the highest levels of faith without notifying or leaving your party. This makes him a very compotent mage.
It's not that big a deal really, just a few points higher than the rest. Also, that means magic damages him more.

I like using Ramza as a samurai pre chapter 4 because his unique PA and MA stat growths allows him to use both aspects of the Samurai. After Chapter 4 uber squire dual wield knight swords is the GOAT.

Generally, i prefer a magic oriented Ramza. Things like Geomancy or Iaido as his secondary. I mainly use him as a support character, though he can become quite powerful near the endgame with ultima.
Joaquin, good to see you! Thanks for sharing, and I agree with using MA-based skills - Ramza has the growth for it, and you can choose if you want to raise or lower your Faith without affecting your abilities. 💪
My Ramza takes up White Magic to kinda take up that healer buffer niche. Then I can do whatever I want with my other 3-4 slots.

Holy is the fastest hard hitting spell in the game, and is white magic, with the white mage having the fastest speed. I feel sorry for people who leveled black magic instead of using level one 50 jp (spam to win ch 1) until getting arcane strength to make magic like summon, iaido (white mage muramasa is 350+), even geomancy and speechcraft go to infinity +1.
Also 0:53 steel isn't mere lol make that white mage brawler with max bravery and spare the rod (or staff in this case) to punish those wicked enemies with your bare hands. It doesn't miss unlike praise/preach while being 1 more bravery than the lame 4 bravery/Faith Boost.
I do feel since Ramza is irreplaceable and can't do errands, JP Boost benefits him the most, especially with leveling bad jobs like thief (female thief steal heart gets that dorter sniper every time though 😂, though equip polearms jump helps with higher speed rhan dragoon), archer (geomancer attack boost is better than aim, and adrenaline rush needs life gain to stay alive long enough for speed to matter) or time mage (quick, teleport are expensive with slow meteor and useless swiftness that still makes it slower than regular holy) that need a lot of setup to be useful.
Defense boost lifefont while casting invigoration is also an insane war of attrition to drain back what you lose and walk off the pain, and protect helps own wiegraf though I'd recommend ranged holy or jump (if he is faster you will land in time) due to that counter.
