Whenever I see a truck like this on the road, it's being used as a truck. It's no pavement princess with an unused bed. It's dirty, it's dinged up, and it's rolling along asking for more. The only thing that can kill these is rust.

Oh fr I have a 96 f250 XLT with the 7.5 and it was a farm truck before I got it. It's got some rust cause it came from up north but I love it!

I literally bought a 88 f250 4x4 with 81k and a 351w 4 speed today. Very minimal rust. Runs and drives. I paid almost nothing. He just needed the truck gone from that parking space.

Nice, honest old truck. I've always loved how the Ford trucks handled a load; just look, it's loaded to the top of the bed sides with wood & it's sitting level!

Over my 75 years and dozens of vehicles, the 1997 Ford F-Series was by far and away my favorite vehicle. Tough, reliable, comfortable.

I had a dinged up 1994 F250HD as in heavy duty. It was a regular cab 2wd with the 300-6 and ZF heavy duty 5 speed manual transmission. It had a 4.10 rear axle ratio and it could tow a house. I bought it for $950 in summer of 2006 and drove it some in 2006 to 2007 until I bought a 2.3 5 speed 2004 Ranger for pizza delivery. The amount I saved in gasoline per month in the Ranger was more than the Ranger payment. After the price of gasoline went down I again drove the F250HD in 2010 while I did some maintenance to the Ranger. Then the clutch slave failed in the F250HD and sadly I sold it for $500 around 2013 after I was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease. Oh boy of all of the 20+ trucks I’ve owned I wish I still had that F250HD. I’d love to find another one like it with 4wd.

I have a 1992 Flareside with the 4.9 liter straight 6 and 5 speed. If you put anything on the bench seat you need to be very delicate with the brakes or it will all fly onto the floor!

I was born in 1997 and I think it boggles my mind that cars my age are now qualified to be classic cars. I hate it. But it sure is nice seeing so many 90s era vehicles on the road today

Also that year was the new oval designed f150. So it was a mix of classic and the rise of newer modern cars in one year.

I have been refurbishing an '05 V6 4.0l SOHC Ford Courier hi-lift/hi-rider RWD crew cab ute with a tray. I've replaced the cooling system and most engine seals, replaced the old clutch fan with twin electrics, and rewired a lot of the engine bay. I'm now onto the suspension. New upper control arms, heavy-duty gas shocks, Nolathane stabiliser bushes, new bushes in the rear. Basically a rebuild but it'll be my home as well my mobile workshop. Full solar, genset. compressor, welder, etc etc.

    First hand experience.
If your willing to stack it, and add sideboards.
    You can move 1.25 cords.
    With no trailer.
Just dont expect to do it fast.
Side sway in corners is very real.

My favorite generation of the F series is the dentsides from the 70s. And I agree trucks aren't work horses anymore and are just overcomplicated

There was an option to get the air ride captain chairs with built in arm rests and they were the most comfortable ride in the world. I hope one day you can experience one of these with the 7.3 and a five speed manual. The most fun thing to drive

All cars and trucks are more complicated today when computers run the vehicles and all the electronic gadgets. Unfortunately, this means their is little do it yourself on modern cars since their are few mechanical things you can do

IMO, this looks outdated for 1997. Maybe it's because the F-150 was redesigned in 1997 and became rounder.

New 1997 F150 debuted in early 1997 but the old style F250 and F350 continued through the 1997 model year. New F250 and F350 design debuted as 1998 models.
