In this video I show the steps and procedures necessary to replace the water pump on a Nissan Titan. Years 2004 current. Nissan uses the same water pump for both the first generation and second generation Nissan Titan. If you have a Nissan Armada or Infiniti QX56, these procedures from work just the same. The vehicle that is shown in this video is a 2006 Nissan titan LE 2wd. The bearings inside the water pump have failed in water is leaking out of the weep hole. After about two days a week in the truck overheat due to low Wayne condi after about two days a week in the truck overheat due to low Coolant condition. Shown below are links for both aftermarket and OEM genuine Nissan water pumps. If you have a chance and the time I would recommend using a genuine Nissan water pump. However if you were like me you do not have a lot of time after market times will work just as fine. I hope this video is help you out if it has please like and subscribe if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something in the comment section. Thank you

Thanks, Aaron…keeping an oldster work truck working
Great video and thank you, shops around me wanted 600+ for this job. I had my pump out and in with the truck running in 75 minutes. Did it all in the driveway with at night with a couple magnetic work lights and a harbor freight tool kit. Only thing I did differently, used a ratchet to move then tensioner by slipping a socket over the ratchet handle with a 12in extension. Couldn't get oem in time, used the Hitachi Wup0006 which comes with the metal gasket :)
I just stumbled upon your channel and am very glad I did, I own a Titan and after viewing a few of your videos I can see how your going to help me save lots of cash by doing my own repairs, your videos are very informative and easy to follow! Thank you
A million thanks. Absolutely great video. Short and to the point. No extra gibberish about other nonsense. Was freaking out about a coolant leak I just got this morning and after watching your video I definitely think it's coming from the water pump. Your video makes it look easy enough that I guess I'll do it myself. Thanks again.
You all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Anson Gabriel Instablaster =)
@Chad Mario Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Great video! Thank you! Just finished & seems to be no leaks. Used a 3/8" swivel to get to that goofy bolt on the lower right water pump. Did thermostat, hoses, coolant & belt in 90° in Phoenix!! I'm beat!!
Great video! Im sure ill be doing this at some point.
115,000 miles 2006
my water pump and idler pulley went out together at 122k miles. Its making a hell of a racket! Id recommend replacing both while the belt is off.
Thanks for this video buddy! I'll change the pump myself.
Thanks for the great tutorial. The Fel Pro gasket I have, has a blue silicone seal imbedded in the block side only. Should I use a sealant on the pump side?
Thank you very much I really appreciated the video very good.
Love your video bro
Awesome video and great work.. i have a question . How long before you put coolant back in the engine to allow for the silicone to dry on the water pump????
If you have a metal gasket .Do you have to put a silicon grey on the gasket both side ? THANKS for SHARING THE VIDEO and answer my questions ,
Have a 2006 Titan with 423,000...... that overheats when idling for to long. Thinking it's time to do this. Thanks man, looks easier than I thought.
423,000? Holy shit batman thats impressive. Any rebuilds?
emsblitz wow really ? 423k miles shit .... any issue with the truck ?
@@Grimeyone13 man thats allot of miles. I got an 2005 at around 230,00 miles, its good to hear the durability of these engines. Ive changed out my water pump once at around 100,000 and google how long the oem water pumps should last, it says 250,000, so I have time to make this a project later on. Right now my value covers need replacing and the starter. Ive had the control arms replaced bc of worn ball joints, and rotors while its all taken apart. Its just like a person as you age there is wear and tear but if you take care of it, it will last! Change your fluids!!! Im thinking now to check the drive shaft, the support bearing make sure there is no play. I dont notice anything driving but just cause the truck is old Im going to look for peace of mind!
I have a 2011 with 422k miles and in the summer it starts overheating if I let it sit still and idle for more than 5 minutes. Did this fix your issue?
Great video
I like how you make this job look easy. After about an hour and a half I finally got my water pump out. I struggled a lot with the top right and bottom right screw. The bottom middle screw wasn't too bad but it was a little tricky. There wasn't a whole lot of room to move around. And with the 6in extension my ratchet kept hitting the fan making it harder to get the screw out. What a nightmare. Now I'm off to put the gasket maker sealant to stuff on the water pump and see if I can get this thing back on before night fall. It's 4:40 pm now.
Nice video, my titan has 189k miles on it probably will need it sooner thanks for share it
Nice video! Thank you for your videos!
thank you for your support!
Aaron do you work on Nissan NV2500-3500? The one's with the V8 are somehow similar with the Titan's. What do you think about the diesel engine that Nissan have as a option, for Titan?
@@AaronHinesAutohave a nice weekend, and ,please, keep up the good job, downloading videos!
Tnks for share this
I have a 2010 qx56 and its going out just wondering do I need to let the pros do this job due to timing or should I do it myself
250,000 miles, still original pump! Might just do this anyway! Lol
Not bad idea but allot of new parts these days are inferior to oem parts. Just a thought
Great tutorial.
Thanks!
Yea thank you very much.
What did you have to do to troubleshoot the water pump, or what was the customer complaining of? I have a high rev noise that increases when I throttle up. It’s not the alternator, so I was wonder if it’s the water pumps early warning sign?
Make sure you look for sticker with belt routing, mine was gone so drew diagram and took pics before removing my belt. How about a titan radiator replacement video?
Thanks
good job😎
Thanks!
Bravo
You can get OEM parts online as well
Great video. Although, I have a question. Does the pulley come right off, or did you used a special tool for it. I rewatched that part a couple of times.
Nope, pulley comes right off no issues
V Nice..👍
my water pump has a fan clutch and a fan on it. did you remove it prior to making the video?
Doing this just now. I got the 4 pulley bolts off no problem, but the pulley is stuck hard on the pump flange still. Liquid wrench and hammering didn't work. Not much room. Any ideas?
Got it off. Just had to spray it on the front side too, wait another hour for the liquid wrench to work itself in there. Then tried prying with a hammer sideways against the top pump ledge while rotating the pulley a bit each time over and over. I could see the rust getting spit out around the circular shaft end on the pulley front.
Next problem: all the pump mounting bolts are seized. Hopefully same trick will work again?
Hey arron i just bought 2006 Nissan titan it has 110,000 miles dont no if timing belt has ever been changed on it do you think it would be a good idea to change that and was wondering about serpentine belt if that brakes it wont hurt the motor will it?
These motors do not have a timing belt. I have a timing chain and they normally last upwards of 200,000 to 300,000 miles. So you should be good there. I have never seen a timing chain break. They normally stretch and start to whine after they are worn. Changing the serpentine belt certainly wouldn’t hurt. They aren’t too expensive
@@AaronHinesAuto ok cool thanks Aaron and thanks for the videos man they are really professional and detailed keep them coming
Easiest water pump I ever seen😂😂
how do you tighened the belt back up when you put it back on
It has a spring tensioned belt tensioner. So it automatically adjusts
Feel bad for the next guy that tries to remove that pump and seal 🤣😂
That's what I was thinking 😂.
The right stuff is the only thing I use on my cars and truck. It’s awesome, but a bit pricey.
Ya it’s expensive but I love it.
I have a 2010 qx56 and I switched out my thermostat and when I idle for like 20 to 30 minutes the temp starts rising above normal temp then the needle jumps up and down up and down I did a compression test 15psi holds did a combustion test stays blue i haven't switched out my water pump or my radiator what do you think is going on with my truck I could use all the help I can get
Id change both to be sure the radiator go with an all aluminum one with three cores youll have to trim the fan shroud a little but it is definitely worth the upgrade and look into a closed system vacuum coolant purge that allows you to properly put coolant in. Thats important to do trust me air can easily ruin your old or new radiator.
@@djritm3215 I switch the fan clutch to an autozone part and fixed my issue but the problem came back so now I'm about to switch to oem clutch was more expensive but worth it
Sounds like it’s the radiator tbh and if you’re not using the proper vacuum coolant air purge tool that can cause overheating as well.
@@djritm3215 where can I find tool or purge valve @ what would the cause the radiator to go out its got 144k on the dash its a 2010
@@djritm3215 I will say this my truck started acting up before I even replaced any coolant or parts it was doing the same thing now what could it be the oil light with temp light lit up and flashed and stayed on but after it went down it didn't show no more
I hope you can help me if it is a normal water pump or does it go to the timing chain?
What kind of power tool is that? I need one asap
Milwaukee m12 power ratchet. I got the fuel version trust me it saves ALOT of time definitely worth buying especially if you already own Milwaukee power tools
@@djritm3215 is that a 3/8 drive?
Yes it is, great tool to have, saves alot of time
a friend question is the water pump of Nissan Armada 2006 is it a normal pump or does it go to the time of the Engine?
You live next to a school? Lol
Haha no My shop is next to a school. They are so damn loud sometimes
dirty motor
Yes it’s a fleet truck. This truck sees mostly dirt roads
@@AaronHinesAuto mine is very clean low miles but seems its dripping coolant I'm not sure if it the water pump but it looks easy to change out, I did the same to my Chevy Tahoe
