    You should add a small magnet on the inside to make it tip proof so the metal rod won't accidentally fall out and then use a stronger magnet to pull it out

    And you can never go wrong with some RFID locks. They always make everything cooler. Not quite as simple as your good metal rod trick, but a lot more cool factor. Lol

      @MaxF01  2 роки тому +1

      Definitely!! Haha the cool factor is definitely worth taking into consideration! Thanks for the good ideas!

    Nice job. For the foam you can use floor mats that are sold at Harbor Freight. Maybe do a flag top with Betsy Ross stars for other option.

    I'm making one now. I'm going to put under mount drawer hinges to have the table top slide open

    The reason your table top is wobbling is because the legs that pivot on your mechanisms have holes in them and these are there for stabilizers to run from side to side. This could be a problem for space inside but is the cure to make it open evenly. Nice table.

    You’d have to run a divider down the middle and 2 extra hinges. It would make 2 separate cabenit spaces but would make it a lot more sturdy.

    I have a similar tabletop and in between the hinges is a steel rod that prevents the table from wobbling just an FYI which you probably already knew

    Thanks for this video.
    SUGGESTION/IDEA: Since you're using a large(ish) magnet for the key (opener), you could use a smaller (weaker) magnet inside behind the locking pin so that even if the table tilts or is moved around the locking pin will stay in.
    Also, thanks for including a link to the hardware you used.

    Great work! One question I have though is accounting for wood movement that May coz the table top to split o we time. I’ve seen people using bread board ends with floating tenons to counteract that since you used fixed braces that might be a problem maybe? Or don’t you think that’ll be a factor?

  • @Shrubhumper

    Now you should make the same thing with a flag for the top. :D Great work as always Max. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Much appreciated sir!

    Still watching the video, looks great so far. At the part where your covering up the nail holes, what about pocket holes on the inside. That way you don't have to worry about them. Ok, Back to watching and keep up the good work.

    Great video! Do you plan on putting a red dot on your Glock pistol?

    • @MaxF01
      @MaxF01  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Thomas! I would definitely like to at some point, or at least get another pistol and put a dot on it, one of my buddies has one with a dot and I remember it being a lot easier to get back on target after each shot

    The stain still looks blotchy even though you used a prestain conditioner. Can you put more coats of the conditioner, or is it just something you have to live with

    • @MaxF01
      @MaxF01  2 роки тому

      As far as i know that stuffs a one time use. I also noticed a few blotchy spots in the stain, it could have been spots i didnt sand as deep as the rest, im not too sure exactly though, im sure theres some explanation for it

    What kind of wood did you use for your top? It don't look like a pine or spruce

    • @MaxF01

      Its actually just common board from Home Depo which i think is usually spruce pine or fir

    I’m thinking I’m going to use drawer slides on mine could just notch out the back to give them a way to slide in and out .. looks like a nice table I’d keep improving the design with better joinery/ better lock and hardware that uneven opening and closing would drive me nuts. Good work man

    As a hobby woodworker That has been doing this for awhile now I can’t help but see improvements that should have been implemented in this build. The legs were a major no go for me exposing that end grain and not hiding it really takes away from this build. But we all have to start some where and it looks good for what it is. Keep up the hard work and striving for improving your craft
