Before watching the video, I was of the opinion that Ecosport was the better buy of the lot but after hearing about the various aspects where the Duster trumps the Ecosport, I had to change my opinion. More features, more performance and the go anywhere feature and finally the deal breaker, the price is enough to justify most buyers why to go for the Duster over the Ecosport and certainly stands out for a better value for many proposition... Great comparison review and what a review!!
If you are in India, this vdo doesn't hold good. In India, Ecosport is far better than duster. Duster has advantage of space, rest all is better in Ecosport.
This duster here actually is not best version. Get a 1.5 l DCI turbo diesel 4x4 with 6 speed manual gearbox. It will have the most power with its huge neuton metres of torque and the most fuel efficient too, even more than eco sport. Also one more reason why manual version is better is because the first gear is lowered gear and on the road and city you actually start the car with second gear, so it makes it 5 speed manual. But the great thing is that first gear is used for off road extreme situations and when you put car in 4wd lock and 1st gear, it also makes it 4L 4 low, which is perfect for off road
Do not forget that both models, Ford EcoSport and Duster (Dacia) are produced in Romania, first in Craiova and second in Mioveni. For Duster, Renault has just changed the logo, but the Dacia Duster and Renault Duster models are the same.
The duster engine is far less likely to blow up unlike the eco sport , eco sport engine to small to take a thrashing , if you want to go into the wilderness take an eco sport, but if you want to come back take a duster.

Hi Nicholas, a 4 speed automatic gearbox might not serve as well as a 6 speed auto unit but frankly, the Duster doesn't require a bigger gearbox as it is a compact SUV and has a small 2.0 Liter engine sitting under the hood. Also, incorporating a bigger gearbox would lead to an increase in the cost of production because of which the car might not be able to deliver the purpose of providing an affordable SUV for daily commutes.

Out here in the UAE, however, the Duster made its mark years ago by being the only off-road capable SUV that was on sale from AED 49,900.

The AWD Duster costs literally 20% more than the full option pack Ecosport in India. Only the 2WD Duster, that too with a sub-par 85PS Engine matches the Ecosport price.

It's strange to see how countries differ with engines and gearboxes in south africa we have the 1.5dci motor with a six speed edc auto or 6 speed manual gearbox also a 1.6 na motor instead of the 2.0 the colour finishes on a the dashboard are also different we have the plain black so funny how they put a 4 speed which is very old school on a modern car

Hey Harry, While each car is different, there is most likely a safety system in place that will prevent the car from shutting down if it is in gear/ the wheels are rotating. All we can say is, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME, haha!

Power to weight ratio is poor in duster. That gearbox and build quality is not comparable to Ecosport. Dacia duster is far better than renault duster and both dusters struggle in moose test.

Hi Ug parmar. The Renault Duster is a budget SUV starting at AED 51k for the base PE trim. If Renault wanted to introduce a 6 speed gearbox, it would have bloated its price.
