Had a 3 blanks over the past few weeks but each blank is closer to the next fish!

It get it right and you can have some amazing sport. It’s been hard with all the rain but hopefully the more settled weather should come better fishing.
Some nice fish for river fish. I've caught myself out more than once fishing a nice slack only yo realise I can't quite reach the water with the landing net. Ended up lying in the mud to reach.
Jorvik Angler it’s something that has caught more than one angler out but it’s the first thing I check, I also work out in every swim the place to wind down and hook a fish and the best spot to land it.
Jorvik Angler one of the best bits about owning a boat is that the swims that can’t be attacked from the bank can be fished from a boat but you will need to wait until the next video for that.
Hi ady yet another quality video very informative pal well done. Oh and if it's any consolation I don't know many predator anglers around the Yorkshire area were I live that are having a good season some nice fish but hard work! Keep them coming pal.
graham boulton cheers Graham, it would have been nice to put 10 fish on the bank but that’s an honest assessment of two days river piking. If the weather is good this weekend and I get the bit out my luck should change.
Md Fishing outside of a bend can work, the first fish on the video was taken from a slack on the outside of a bend but a large tree makes it a slack which can also work well.
What a great video. Learnt so much in this one clip. I had a terrible session today on a river with a strong current. Can I ask what size line you use, size hooks? And how would you deal with strong current if there's no slack water. Many thanks.
Hi Thomas, Glad you enjoyed the video. Oversized floats and big leads will only work on the very edge of the slack going into the flow. Fishing the full flow is almost impossible and especially on the far bank. Even if the water doesn’t have any bends you will always get a slack behind trees and bridge pillars, it doesn’t need to be a big slack to hold fish. Another great spot is a canal entrances and especially if they go with the river.
Thank you buddy, sadly I haven’t seen the floats since I found these at a pike fishing shop although standard sea floats will do the job. The net is a savage gear net although I now use the BFT monster net which is really strong and reaches to most of the spots I fish.
got myself 2 of them floats you are using for the river for fishing distance without the flow dragging them under, so to plumb the depth obviously a 4oz lead wont pull them under so you cant plumb that method,... So what you do, do you set the depth like you did in the video so that if its on depth or a bit over it over when it hits the water it will cock for a second then lay flat, if it does that is that a good depth, but if it hits the water and just stays flat, then its over depth/ or do you have to know the depth of the swim to use these floats
Hi Harvey, this is why I always use the flat float method. 4oz isn’t enough to sink the float but it’s enough to show that a cocked float isn’t on the bottom. Without the trace on set the float at 6ft and add a foot into the float sits flat then add around another 12” for flow full and you should be fine.
