Can we add a customer list in video ads (UA-cam short promotion), One more question do we have to select this customer list in responsive search ads or will Google do it automatically please answer asap.
Hi there! Thank you for watching our channel. You'll want a minimum of 1,000 people on your list. But even that might not be enough. The reason is that Google must match 1,000 users in your list to their internal data. Sometimes Google can't match 100% of your list. If, for example, you upload a list of 1,000 customers and Google can only match 95% of them, then your list is only 995, which is 5 short of the 1,000 that you need in your list to begin remarketing. Please send any other questions. Thank you!
Hey There, I am running google ads right now for lead generation and conversion is defined as anyone that submits the contact form on my website which then gets funneled into my CRM. Can the customer match list be created from my past customers who converted from a lead submission to an actual sale? I have all the information: name, email, phone, zip/postal code, country code, etc. Also, if the customer match list is created and half of them that are in the US and the other half is in Canada, but you are currently only targeting an audience in Canada, will the customer match type only target a similar audience who are from Canada from the match list? I hope I explained the properly. I'd love to get some feedback because my CPA is really high right now and google ads account managers are not much help. Much appreciated - Peter
Hello Peter, sorry I couldn't reply sooner. Thank you for watching! Yes, you can either a) upload past customers to an existing customer match lists, OR b) create a brand new customer match list with those past customers, then add new customers to this new list as you go. Under the "Audience Lists" section of your account, find your customer lists, click the list name, then, in the list, click the three dot icon to the top right of the window, then you'll see a section titled: "List members" and an option named "Edit your list based on customer contact information" There, you can add, or even remove, customers from your match list. To your question on Canada/USA members of the list: the setting that ultimately determines where your ads show is the campaign Location settings. So if your list contains USA members, and you add that list to a campaign that has only targeted the location Canada, you won't show ads in the USA, even though there might be USA-based members of your list. Let me know if that doesn't answer it. Good luck with those Google Ads managers!
Hello! Thank you for asking. I believe phone numbers only won't be effective. The least amount of data I have uploaded was email, first name, last name. But I have never attempted phone numbers only.
Google says that I can only use customer match in "observation" mode. I guess they won't send an ad to the people on the list and will send the ad to a "lookalike" audience?
Hi Austin, Thanks for this video. I would like to know if it's okay to skip some fields like zip, country and names. I would like to only add email id's, would that be alright for the match list to work?
Hello, thank you for watching and yes: you can only add emails. When you go to upload your customer list, you’ll see an option to upload email addresses only
Hello Lee, you can simply include what you do have. If you don't have the telephone or zip code, then include an email. Google Ads will ask you for: Emails, Phones, and/or Mailing Addresses. Include as much as you have and Google will match what it can.
Will I be able to show dynamic ads to these customers? The reason I ask this is I do not see product information in the customer list that is being added.
Hello, product remarketing data (which product pages, collections pages, etc a website visitor viewed) is collected with the Google Ads remarketing tag. That’s a separate thing from customer match list. that’s why you see no product data in the customer match list. However, Google Ads can use customer match lists to help remarket to users who already made a purchase (which is how you collected their contact info) and also have viewed but not purchased other products on your website. A customer match list would, for example, let you bid differently on those past purchasers who are also in you google ads remarketing list. In short, you ought to use both customer match and google ads remarketing tag lists if you can.
Thank you, for this informative video. By the way is there a method we can send sample customer data from BigQuery to Google Ads without suing any 3rd party software or manual method? I was looking for a solutions to automate this step, please guide me if you have any information on this. Hi Mohammed, sorry I couldn't reply sooner. I don't know how to send data directly from BigQuery to Google Ads. I assume this is what you've already done, which is a Google to BigQuery transfer: cloud.google.com/bigquery/docs/google-ads-transfer You can use apps like Make.com, which can be cheaper than Zapier. But I don't know of a way to do it without a 3rd party app unfortunately. :(

Hi Austin, thanks for this video. I'm a newbie in google ads and I would like to upload my customer list but my account doesn't give me the possibility to get into the audience option. Do I need to start my first campaign before that, or could there be other issues? Thanks for answering!
Hi there! Thanks for watching and to your question, yes, you do need to start a campaign and also have good account history. You can see more details here: support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6299717?hl=en&ref_topic=10551292

Hi, thanks for this video. Great info. Can I add the customer information from the emails they sent to me using the Contact Us form on our website? Is that acceptable? Thank you
Yes you can! That is definitely acceptable. You can see more information on what is and what is not acceptable collection and use practices relating to Customer Match lists here: support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6299717 An example of when you cannot use a customer's information in your Customer Match list is this: say you collect a customer's email address from "Business A's" website. Then, you open a new business called "Business B." In this case, you could not use the customer's information was provided to "Business A" in a Customer Match list for "Business B." This is because the customer provided their contact info to "Business A" but not to "Business B."

Hello Vader, Sorry I couldn't reply before. You'd need to create a formula that goes something like: IF(A2="USA","+1") and IF(A2="India","+91") Or manually clean the data. I don't have an easy answer for that one. Sometimes ChatGPT can clean things up quite well. I say give ChatGPT a try first, an excel formula second, then if all else fails, clean the data manually.
Hi Jett, thank you! Yes, you can attach it to every campaign. However, if you use Performance Max, Google automatically uses these lists and you don't need to connect this audience to the campaign.
Would you happen to have a video explaining how to ONLY advertise to a matched customer list? I am running a branding campaign and more impressions are being seen by non customer list people (around 95%) vs customer list - Thanks
Hello Ivly, Thank you for asking. Yes, Google can match non-gmail emails to users if those users have connected their non-gmail emails to Google product accounts. For example, if you use an email ivlyprem@work.com to log into UA-cam, then Google could possibly "match" you using that @work.com email because you use it on UA-cam, which is a Google product. However, Google seems to be able to match many more gmail users than non-gmail users. But any email you have can be submitted. If Google can't match it, there's no harm.
Hi Teri, thanks for watching our channel! You can upload this without zip codes but you'll likely have a lower match rate, meaning Google won't be able to match 100% of the entries in your list to actual Google users. Uploading partial data is ok. You can even submit a first name without a last name. Simply leave the fields you don't have blank. Try uploading it, then check back after a day to see the match rate. Good luck!
Hi Aira! Google Ads won't be able to use customer match lists with less than 1,000 users. But you should still do this once you have 1,000+ customers. Remember that Google won't be able to match 100% of the 1,000 users in your list. For example, if you upload 1,000 users and Google can only match 80% of them, then there are only 800 users in the final match list. So you really need more than 1,000 users to make use of this feature. But save up till you have enough and definitely give this a try!
