i have a question professor: why sell the brainstorm for blueprint instead of selling gift card? you had just received a negative egg + you had already held a gift card for a couple rounds previously so i feel the gift cards value could not have been high enough to justify keeping it. Even if you were planning on exchanging it for another joker soon anyway (meaning you would still sell a brainstorm, but later on instead of now), the extra money from having more copies of rebate for a couple rounds (or even just one) isn't totally insignificant.
I have to admit, I don't think I could have the patience to pull this off even though I want to try this so badly. Doc does this despite openly disliking the grind, just to entertain us. The man is a Balatro god.

Fun fact: while doing some thinking, the difference between n^2 vs (n-1)(n+1) is always 1. Meaning even if the blueprint and brainstorm combo are off balanced by 1, it would be an insignificant dent that would probably be beyond the precision needed for the difference between life and death.
Not really work like that. For a 10 sized hand full of gold red seals, let's just say I have 4 barons and 2 mimes (which is the right distribution). By moving to 3 barons 3 mimes, my mult goes from ((1.5^4)^4)^10 = 1.5^160, to ((1.5^3)^5)^10 = 1.5^150. Then the score is balanced. So the first score is equal to the second one times (1.5^10)^2 meaning you can gain ~3×e3 on your score which can be game changing. Apologies if my math is incorrect, I may have done some mistakes
"Insignificant" is not a word to describe a change in quantity of exponentiations. The magnitude of loss from being off-by-one like that, playing the plasma deck, is exactly 2 steel card effects = 2.25 x-mult
the number we're off by one on here is the number of baron activations per card held in hand, so that 1 is multiplied by the number of cards in hand and then taken as an exponent. it would not surprise me at all if the difference amounts to multiple e in the final score

@@drspectred you need to see what the amount of noise is when you're quiet in obs, in audio mixer it should show, when youre quiet, where is the audio bar at, you should remember the amount of db/decibels that it is then right click the audio source youre using in obs and click filter then add noise gate with the plus sign, then you should make the close threshold slider a little bit less than the db that you had, for example if your noise is at -10db you should set close threshold to for example -15db and open threshold to -5db there are visual guides if you just search for obs noise gate hope this helps ya doc

And considering the mod already exists, with presumably a framework in place to enable that kind of thing, it seems like it would probably be way less effort to just program the thing (or have it programmed), instead of manually re-rolling for dozens of hours lol. That's all! And the other aspect of my question is whether you were just doing it manually for the principle of the thing. And I'll take your answer as a "no".

Few days ago i was doing a run and got a close to perfect setup without perkeo, for ante 32 i had dna baron mime 2 blueprints 3 brainstorms, natural negatives troubadour and juggler and photograph and many others but useless for scoring. Natural handsize of 10, getting to 15 after dna, only steel red seal poly kings, and i could only score e129 instead of e180. Before ante 32 i was way above naneinf with burglar.
Turtle Bean is the secret sauce. I've done similar calculations in the past and figured you have to get insanely lucky with negatives, but I hadn't considered Turtle Bean
@@Cloiss_ yeah you need to have the same setup i had and find a negative turtle bean precisely at the end of ante 31 which is really lucky even if you have tens of thousands to spend in the shop. But i guess if he posted the run thats what we gonna see? The negative brainstorm at the beginning helps also
Dear Professor I have a question, you keep on repeating that you can reroll for the Serpent, but I keep asking myself: that only works for Boss blinds how are you going to beat the small blind and the big blind in the later antes, especially when you plan on using a second ectoplasm.
Someone else already answered this under a different comment. "To make the red seals red. And then the ones you want to hold in hand are separated from the purple spades you want to discard." It's not necessary, just something else to do in an extremely repetitive run.
The system he is running is suit independent and in previous runs the prof likes to match the suit of the card with its seal. So he will likely make the red seals = hearts, blue seals = clubs, gold seals = diamonds, purple seals = spades. Its inefficient because now he will have to re-roll against multiple suit-debuff bosses, but in the future he will be enrolling for the serpent anyway so its a nonissue. Its just for kicks and giggles.

It probably would have done more harm than good to lose that second consumable slots for that many antes

he's doing it to sort his cards by seal so it's easier to see them in deck view. he changed all his red seals to hearts
