soul card is packs only, even in spectral it won't show up in the shop
1:11:53 I'm not 100% sure, but my guess as to why the game lags is because of the way it's storing data. Every item you own is (I suspect) fully indexed, each object is 100% unique and his all of its data values stored again separately, for example, if you have two 3 of clubs in your deck, and you draw both, the one that draws to the left will ALWAYS be exactly the same 3 of clubs, even though you cannot tell the difference, because the game stores objects in a way that has each one being 100% unique with its own entry. These entries would include stuff such as Bonus chips (for hiker), card enhancement, Holo/Poly/foil/Negative, the data on the joker that changes (popcorn for example), its exact location in the stack, what card back to use, sell value, etc.
Storing stuff like this allows for unique interactions like Hiker storing precise data on the card, or vampires having unique mult values, etc. However, as the amount of objects gets larger, the index of objects gets larger, and the software, every time it has to access this index for any reason, takes more and more time due to the size, and time it takes to parse through it to find the data.
PS, I know you don't actually care and said that sarcastically. But as a UA-cam commenter, I have a right to pretend I don't understand humor, sarcasm, or rhetoric, and use every opportunity to prove that I'm smarter than everyone else by making up some bullshit that sounds correct enough to be true. (I do actually know a bit about programming, but it's not like I've decompiled the game's source to see how its storing data)
You didn't look at the code but a friend of mine did after seeing someone talk about the code on twitter and... That's spot on iirc! There are a lot of weird things about the code, and the consumable cards being like that is... One of them! Really just storing the ID for each card in your consumable slots should work-

@@nockcone It should, but it's probably storing an entire object because that's easy for the programmer and efficient enough when there aren't half a gazillion objects in existence normally. You don't have to write different behavior for different types of cards. Just pop a new object, it'll be gone soon anyway.
@@perkl1234 iterating on this, most games like this develop a class of attributes that defines everything a card can do, and a different configuration of those variables across a few different object types create all of the cards you see. In this game, you can recursively call on these objects to do something, and recursion does fun things in extreme cases, hence lag.
I played this seed, picked up the showman in the shop near the beginning and popped the legendary joker card in the next tarot pack and got another perkio. So I was already at 3 perkios heading into ante 2

1.5^550 is about 7*10^96, so assuming the rest of mult source and base score is negligible, you would need at least 3x that many jupiters

I think the one thing I would add to this is the ability to take showman as well, as it gives no direct benefits and helps get more perkeo and perkeo copies
I'd love to see you replay this seed as a serious attempt and not just for Perkeo; I want to see how much better a good joker selection can take the score

Scientific notation is unintuitive even for a mathematician like myself. Like, your intuition tells you that "hey we made it to ~e55 on the first hand, e58 isn't that far we can play more hands" and then you realize you'd have to play about a thousand of those hands to reach e58 😅

Is there a reason why the version you play on would change how a seed progresses?
Because I’m playing on console without the recent patch, and I’ve tried doing EXACTLY what you do in the video, and I am not getting the first Perkeo (I’m getting Chicot in that same spot.)
My shops also look slightly different (for example, on the very first shop, my boosters are an Arcane and a Buffoon, not 2 Buffoons like the video.)
Again, I’m playing the same exact hands, discarding the same cards in the same order, buying the same items at the shops, etc. The only thing that is different is I’m not on the same version of the game (I suppose there’s another difference, in that I don’t have everything unlocked yet but I assume you do.)
Roffle is doing this in the new patch. Blue seals are always giving him Jupiter.

Oh man ikr? It’s such bs! This experimental beta crap has divided the community because seeds are so interesting and important for this game. I have played tons of roguelikes and never really cared about seeds til this one and the fact that most are seemingly on pc now with experimental it makes it tough on console players. If i knew this i would have got it on pc legit (and might still). Just didn’t know it would actually get mods (didn’t see a steam workshop but the game still got mods) and beta patches would affect anything but it has greatly.
@@MajorChipHazard316 And it is annoying because some of the seeds work fine- this is the first one I tried where the difference in the seeds actually changed the joker that is the key to the seed (or what makes it interesting in the first place).

Re: 1:11:50, I'd guess a reason for the lag is that there are 150+ cards on screen, all doing a slow wobble up and down. But I didn't make the game so who knows

I just need to know, why do you keep the non-negative Jupiter then let Perkeo do its thing and then move all the negative ones back? Why not just use the non-negative one and move on?
He’s waiting to see if he needs to use it to make space for blue seals. If not, he keeps it for the extra bit of mult.
would this run go further with the plasma deck or is the extra perkeo better in the long run?
i wonder how far 5 hiker would go.. if you can thin your deck enough and get mult buff on cards..
With the plasma deck it could be pretty interesting, but I don't think it could go all that far. Without ample sources of multiplicative mult, because you could only get it from Glass/Polychrome/Steel cards, you will struggle to reach deep into the antes.

if you had taken ectoplasm instead of blueprint in one of the first spectrals you could have 1 more
Pro tip if you just use the normal Jupiter you dont have to continuously move the negatives back saving you alot of effort over the course of the run :)

I feel like as you get more and more Jupiters for Observatory procs, that surely a mere *32 mult from glass would be outweighed by higher chips? each mult its only giving you maybe 2k additional score, while a single additional chip would be giving e24+ score. I hate the hierophant as much as anyone, but this might've been actually his time to shine

Can someone explain 46:36? The number on the left says he has 2 clubs and 2 diamonds not counting any wild cards, but you can clearly only see the queen of clubs and the ace of diamonds
