You know what I love about Steve's design? The how awkward and bad it looks, like, compare it with Alex, Steve's pants are terrible, de only thing that makes the legs look a bit separated is the shadow on the knees, while with Alex both legs have boundaries, boots, and pockets, now imagine that one day you just made a poorly made design just for a default skin that will be changed in a matter of minutes, and now imagine that said skin has been quite loved by the community and just as it looks makes it into a place like Smash with just really minor changes. My theory is that, since the character as a whole is "Steve" those alts are simply player skins. It makes sense, because of the enderman's proportions in smash compared to those in minecraft. But in actuality, it's simply because it would make the whole thing extremely unbalanced.
