ACTUALLY! Zelda was playable in the official game "Zelda's Adventure" on CD-I. I know that everyone wants to forget about CD-I games, even Nintendo themselves, but the fact is the fact.
Useless fact: Chrom is the only character to have his victory theme changed within the same game since when the game came out he had the same theme as Marth, Roy and Ike, but currently shares a theme with the other Awakening characters.
Not really, Link is also right-handed in every game that mirrors the screen. This happened in the Wii version of Twilight Princess and the Master Quest version on Ocarina of Time on the GameCube and 3DS, to name a few. Both Links were playable in Smash before BoTW Link.
@@JitseKuilman Mirrored also means Zelda and Ganondorf go left handed. But logically, aside from gameplay, it's just an originally left-handed Link mirrored horizontally. Skyward Sword Link is the first correctly defined right-handed Link. If we're picky, or just an idiot, we could say NES games had sprites for Link wielding sword in right hand ... when actually it was just limitation.

That is a very long, useless smash fact. However this is stupidly entertaining to try out for yourself!
In the original Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, you could gain the ability to play as any Pokémon you recruited as if they were the Pokémon you became at the start, but you have to beat the game and do some other things first
This. With the exception of Lucario and Incineroar due to the former not being in Red and Blue Rescue Team other than the Lucario rank and statue, and the latter not existing at the time, all of the other Pokemon are playable. And Lucario is even playable in Explorers of Time and Darkness which came out in 2007, a year before Brawl. edit: okay he mentioned that, but I would say they are playable as he calls other Fire Emblem characters as being playable because you can move them around and choose their options and such which is exactly what you can do with those Pokemon in the Mystery Dungeon series.

Useless Smash Fact: When you hit Bayonetta with Simon and Richter's whip dangle attack she's the only character that bleeds most likely because she's a witch
Here’s a useless but interesting fact: When you’re playing a normal match, you and your opponents character icon backgrounds actually move if you look closely and isn’t just a still background.
Actually Lucario, when you beat the mystery dungeon games you can switch out the leader in the overworld so yes you can technically play mainly as Lucario
theres a difference between what they call "Stage Left" vs "House Left"...for example, Shulk IS moving to the "House Left" (also called "Director's Left"; it refers to the directions FROM the Audience, aka You)...and by doing so, he is also moving "Stage Right" (not-as-commonly also called "Actor's Right"; it refers to the directions FACING the Audience, aka the actors and sceneries)...just like Einstein said, "Everything is Relative" xD
Here’s a fun fact: When you use Snake’s final smash and your opponent gets the star KO animation in the distance, the missle actually follows your opponent.
Riolu is one of the starter characters in the PMD Explorer games, so yeah, Lucario was playable. Also, your friends are quite wrong about the whole playing as a recruited pokemon thing. Not only can you play whichever dungeon you want with any team you want, as in, without any involvement of any of your starter pokemon.
Useless Fact: So when your waiting for a match online in the little waiting area with the cpu, if you ever hit the cpu it will immediately become agitated and start to attack you. However, the only move you can hit or technically grab the cpu without it attack you is donkey Kong forward grab without throwing the cpu. You can hold the cpu and even bring it to the blast zone and kill it, but it won’t attack you
Nope. You could play as Lucario only in Explorers of the Sky, which released first in April 2009, way after Brawl which released first in January 2008.
@@Lychem Still his friends were wrong on the recruited pokemon not being playable part. Just because they weren't the main character doesn't mean they weren't playbale. And you don't only command them like in mainline pokemon.
13:45 Counter-argument: Robin's role within the story is literally that of "Tactician". That is Robin's class (until promoted to Grandmaster), and in the lore, Robin makes all the battle decisions of the army. While Chrom, Robin, and Lucina are all protagonists in Awakening and are all nearly equal in importance to the story, Robin is the one you as the player control. Every action in battle is described as being a command given by Robin to the troops in exactly the same way that every move in Pokemon is a command from the trainer to their Pokemon.
@@vaguelyhumanoid7419 They don't. If the tactician dies, it's game over. Same goes for Chrom since he's the leader outside of battle. If either leader goes down in battle, you have to go back and try again.
Boy, I sure wish Nintendo made a sequel to Thousand Year Door! I mean, that weird spinoff, "Super" was good and all, but... Still a totally different game. And there have been nothing else. Regardless of if something had a similar aesthetic.
Mewtwo was playable in Pokemon Puzzle League, which released in late 200, before Melee's release. He was unlocked in VS. mode by entering "Bulbasaur" on the character select screen. He has his own Pokemon he uses in the game while he is the trainer.
I mean, sure its not the same zelda, but theres a case to be made since zeldas design has changed since brawl between different games, as well as Link.
I love how more people know captain falcon from smash bros rather then his own series. Without Smash Bros Captain Falcon would've probably been passed off as a generic racing game and would've faded into obscurity
20:13 By that logic, every character has been unlockable at some point in Smash. In the Subspace Emmisary, you lose access to the entire roster save for Ness, Luigi, and King Dedede and have to “unlock” every fighter again. Edit: nevermind, I forgot how Kirby got his own level in Subspace following the level with King Dedede, Luigi, and Ness. It could still be interpreted as “unlocking” Kirby, but I personally wouldn’t. You win this round, PJiggles.
By the logic of counting single-player modes, every character that is playable in an unlockable event match in Melee/Brawl/Wii U is unlockable at some point. That shit doesn't make sense lmfao
Min Min could have 48 variations of Fsmash This is how I’ve counted so far. She has Grounded and Ariel Fsmash (2). She can punch with her right and left arm (x2=4). She can angle each arm Up or Down, or not at all (x3=12). She has 3 variations of her right arm (+12=24). This is where we don’t know for sure if this is the case. She can shoot each arm backwards, but I don’t know if it’s limited to Left arm first, or if you can do the right arm first too. If you can do both, then that’s (x2=48). If not, the it’s limited to right arm only backwards, so it’s (+18=42). So, in conclusion, Min Min, when she comes out today, will have either 42 or 48 variations of just her *fsmash*. This character is gonna be awesome.
In the first two mystery dungeon games, after beating the main quest, you can change your player character to any other pokemon you've recruited. This includes moving around as them in the overworld. The original games had all pokemon from gen 1 to 3 as playable characters, so Mewtwo, Pichu, Pikachu, and Jigglypuff shouldn't be on that list by that standard. Example: ua-cam.com/video/l__P_oYvlk8/v-deo.html
Mystery Dungeon came after Melee so this doesn't count. However, in explorers, while you don't control them in the overworld, you can leave behind your main pokemon and partner to play as anyone you recruit in dungeons. That said, Lucario is playable by PJiggles definition, if you press left, Lucario moves left - you're controlling him.
Here’s an odd tidbit I’ve found. Some characters have more than three taunts, in some way or another. Captain Falcon’s down taunt changes depending on the direction he’s facing, all three of Robin’s change depending on the current tome and sword he’s holding making him the top in this list, one of Pit’s changes depending on what form his weapon is in (and he’s got another for activating Palutena’s Guidance), Snake’s got an extra for his Codec activation, although he’s short one because of his up and down taunts being the same, and Doctor Mario’s side taunt’s got some color randomness to it. Oh, and if you want to count the sound difference with Little Max having a chance to get Doc Louis chiming in, he’s also on the list. I totally could’ve missed one though, which is why I didn’t put a definitive number on this.
I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned this one: Even though Links’s side b was turned back into a normal boomerang, the sound effect of the gale boomerang was still kept.

Useless fact: "Fire Emblem Fates" is the only game in the American version that incorrectly uses it's Japanese name, "Fire Emblem If". This is only visible in the new remix, old remix, and Japanese version of Lost in Thoughts All Alone. The original English version of the song, and Corrin's "Tips" both say Fire Emblem Fates.
Only in Sky, which came out after Brawl. In Time/Darkness the only non starter gen IV pokemon you could "pick" was Munchlax. But, since you can play as any Pokemon in post game (at least in Rescue and Explorers games) and Charizard/Ivysaur are considered playable, then Lucario is as well. Otherwise only Squirtle is truly playable mon from other source than Smash.
I think Duck Hunt only partially applies to making their playable debut in smash. In Duck Hunt you play as the hunter / guy with the gun and in Duck Hunt's reveal trailer they show the person with the zapper as part of the character.
I find it kind of funny that according to the canon of Fire Emblem: Awakening, Robin is actually ordering Chrom, Lucina, and all the other Shepherds/Future Children like Pokémon on the battlefield... Meaning technically Chrom and Lucina are actually about as playable as Pokémon. Edit: I'm not actually salty about PJiggles not counting the Pokémon as playable characters, I just found the thought of Robin giving Chrom and Lucina orders like Pokémon outside of battle funny. Especially since odds are he'd ACTUALLY do it to Chrom since he's as dense as the Earth's core. Robin: Chrom, go check on Sumia, she's been in the stables for 3 hours now, make sure she's okay. Chrom: Alright, I will go right away. I'm sure she's fine, though. Robin: ... Lucina: ... Literally everyone else: ... Chrom: ...what?... Robin: *doubtfully stares at him* Chrom (after thinking for a solid minute): ...okay, you're right, I better hurry and check up on her.
@Otacon464 They constantly talk about Robin being a brilliant strategist and basically being one of the biggest reasons they're so successful a lot though, so I personally take that as Robin basically always giving them instructions. Plus, the whole reason for considering them "playable" is that you can control them, which is Robin (aka the player) giving them orders. But the whole reason I posted this is that I just found it funny thinking about Robin giving orders outside of battles like a Pokémon trainer. Especially considering that it'd be believable for Chrom considering he's as dense as a block of compacted lead.
X_2GamerYT it’s still Zelda, and he is counting Zelda in general, not the specific Zelda you look like. Because in every single smash,(except 64,) you play as a different Zelda.
Is no-one gonna talk about how he used a masterball on a bunnelby? Also: Useless UA-camr Fact, the description of this video says "Xenoblade Chornicles".
So PJiggles defines "playable" by saying "If I input to the left, the character will go to the left", but in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon you can literally make Lucario move to the left by pressing left, therefore making him "playable" by PJiggles's definition.
Isn't every single version of Zelda technically the same person just reincarnated? If not... wouldn't that make Smash Ultimate's "Everyone is Here!" statement a lie? Due to the lack of Twilight Princess Zelda.
8:39 Super Star Ultra came out in September 2008 while Brawl came out in January 2008. However, Meta Knight was playable in other Kirby games before this, such as Kirby's Air Ride in 2003 and Nightmare in Dreamland in 2002
I don't know who told you you can't play as recruited pokemon in the Mystery Dungeon games but ever since the first one after beating the main story your main character turns into a generic pokemon and you can swap the leader both in dungeons and the overworld and it stays like that until you manually choose another leader
Useless smash fact: when King K. Rool uses his final smash, you can see the character you the final smash is being used on sitting on Dk isle. It’s very easy to see with Rob
Hmm... okay so I'm kind of stumped on this one. Considering the "first playable debut in Smash" section I notice that Duck Hunt Duo is up there. Totally makes sense since you're playing as the "gunman" in the Duck Hunt game on NES. But, if you plug in an NES controller into the player 2 slot that player CAN control the ducks movements if you choose the mode where one duck appears at a time. This can be looked at many different ways... 1. The ducks you can control are random, nameless ducks, similar to the Game and Watch characters and the duck in Smash is meant to represent them all. 2. The duck in Smash IS one of the ducks you control so therefore it's first playable debut was back in the original Duck Hunt game, leaving only the Dog, half of a character, with it's playable debut in Smash. 3. When they were revealed, Sakurai did actually state that you control three characters in the Duck Hunt character slot. The Dog, Duck, and "gunman" in front of the screen, for stuff like smash attacks and neutral and side special. SO, does this mean that only 1/3 of the Duck Hunt character had their playable debut in Smash or that nothing makes sense and I'm putting too much effort into explaining this?
I wouldnt say you fully control the Gunmen. All you can really do is shoot here, shoot there. Imputting the move causes the gunment to shoot somewhere. You arent controlling wjere he shoots, he is shooting at a predetermined part of the screen (same with performing pokemon move) The dog really shoots this attempt down. You cant control him, which means he isnt fully playable. (That, and if you count the duck on the dog's back ACTUALLY being in Duck hunt, instead of being a new duck)
Useless fact: If there aren't enough people to join online tournament mode, the game will automatically add CPU fighters in the bracket. They usually have standard first names with proper capitalization and a random user icon. You will be able to tell the fighter you were just up against was a CPU by checking your recently fought players after the match. They also will exit out of the results screen at the exact same time as you, unlike other players. If a player DC's then they also will be replaced by a CPU too. I've actually managed to have one of these DC CPU's make it to finals while still under a player's name, so they can still be formidable fighters, if you dont know how to fight a CPU that is.

theres a difference between what they call "Stage Left" vs "House Left"...for example, Shulk IS moving to the "House Left" (also called "Director's Left"; it refers to the directions FROM the Audience, aka You)...and by doing so, he is also moving "Stage Right" (not-as-commonly also called "Actor's Right"; it refers to the directions FACING the Audience, aka the actors and sceneries)...just like Einstein said, "Everything is Relative" xD

Counter-argument:
Robin's role within the story is literally that of "Tactician".

Edit: nevermind, I forgot how Kirby got his own level in Subspace following the level with King Dedede, Luigi, and Ness. It could still be interpreted as “unlocking” Kirby, but I personally wouldn’t. You win this round, PJiggles.
I mean, Kirby isn't unlockable in subspace embassy either. He gets one of the dedede unstatue thingys before the one point in subspace embassy.

Min Min could have 48 variations of Fsmash
This is how I’ve counted so far.

You are right except for Pikachu who was in Smash 64 before Mystery Dungeon came out.
Same as mewtwo pichu and jigglypuff cause mystery dungeon was after melee

(i) of its own motion and having heard the parties, or
(ii) on the application of a party by motion on notice to the other party or parties,
give such directions and make such orders for the conduct of proceedings before the Supreme Court, as appear convenient for the determination of the proceedings in a manner which is just, expeditious and likely to minimise the costs of those proceedings.
(2) Subject to any provision of statute, where any person not a party to an appeal is entitled under any rule of law to apply to be heard in any proceedings before the Supreme Court otherwise than as a party, that person may apply by motion in the proceedings before the Supreme Court on notice to the parties for permission to intervene in the proceedings on such terms as the Supreme Court directs.

Chrom (after thinking for a solid minute): ...okay, you're right, I better hurry and check up on her.
@Otacon464
They constantly talk about Robin being a brilliant strategist and basically being one of the biggest reasons they're so successful a lot though, so I personally take that as Robin basically always giving them instructions.

Yesn't
@@andrewbichon of course, of course
I wouldnt say you fully control the Gunmen. All you can really do is shoot here, shoot there. Imputting the move causes the gunment to shoot somewhere. You arent controlling wjere he shoots, he is shooting at a predetermined part of the screen (same with performing pokemon move)
The dog really shoots this attempt down. You cant control him, which means he isnt fully playable.

What is a Pokémon?

Heel goed Zzzleepy, ik vind het knap Dat je nederlands spreekt.
In nintendoland for the wii u, there is a metroid minigame where your mii becomes samus, which technically makes them a mii gunner
You can also become Link and get a knuckle seed in the LoZ and Pikmin minigames respectively
Then there’s also the whole swordfighting minigame in Wii Sports Resort.
Keyword: Technically.
Not canon
@@JetSetDman isn't swordplay the equal to fencing? shouldn't count if it's the case
Bernian Quack The whole thing was filled with semantics so technically would pass
You can play as Zelda in “Zelda the Wand of Gamalon”
Was it made before melee?
Aidan Denton Yes
We don't talk about that... that THING.
Not the same Zelda as the one in smash and not even canon
Pedro boss You say that but those games easily fit into the timeline pre-windwaker
Fun fact: shulk never gains or loses weight in smash ultimate. The two arts mentioned here have multiple stat changes such as increased knockback given and received. Even in other arts, such as speed and jump, which are also often thought of his weight changing, affect gravity among other things to change how his “weight” feels.

true haha
Yes very true
super true
You're true and i know it because i am dutch

Are we just not gonna talk about how duck hunt duo arguably includes "guy with nes zapper," an unquestionably playable character?
This is true, but perhaps all three of them together don't count as a group character that has never been playable together before.
Jaxon Van Volkingburgh Still not dog though
Miranda Tagliamonte if thats the logic we’re going by, banjo and kazooie should also be on the list. I actually dont you if you play as banjo making kazooie do stuff, since I havent played it myself, so correct me if im wrongg

Here is a fun fact: Every time Kirby lands from being in the air and sometimes in an attack a little star can be seen coming out
MarshNut I know some of these stars can be absorbed by G&W bucket but is it all of them or only the ones from certain attacks?
Ok cool. I noticed since I play kirby a lot. Kinda tell from the profile pic.
If Kirby goes into Free Fall Animation it’s a reference to him falling from a high place in the Kirby Games.
Fun Fact:
The list of playable debuts in Smash would of been different if the now cancelled Shiek spin-off released.
(Also this still works as Shiek wasn't her own character until Smash 4)

@@NumberOneHorseDrowner when they say "laugh in" that means they're just laughing in general and the part that follows is usually something that proves the above statement incorrect
This is a joke, right? Even if it is, Ultimate's Zelda is from A Link to the Past. I just can't with that "Wand of Gamelon" thing.
