Loved my 290. Got rid 2 months ago, had it for almost 2 years. The exhaust filter was a pain however a 70 quid res delete solved it. Front end grip in wet is the hardest part to deal with in winter but in the summer it's so much fun
How do you go about getting the res delete? I've got a GPF car and it's basically silent!
@@ThisIsMTH just get a decent exhaust place to do a custom job. Got mine booked in next week.
Loving my 2020 in Magnetic Grey. Mines done just under 1500 miles now and it’s definitely more vocal now compared to when I first got it. Thinking of getting a resonator delete soon, as I’d like the pops and crackles to be a bit louder. Actually sounds nice with the windows down. The GPF’s have made them quieter but it’s generally got a really deep tone to it. Looking forward to more videos on yours!
Sam Culpan Thanks mate! Glad you’re enjoying it - I definitely find it quieter than my 300 was but it definitely has a slightly different tone to it which I like. DSG7 also feels completely different to DSG6!
RideWithMe yeah, I had the 6-speed DSG in my Scirocco and the 7 is much better IMO. I was also looking at getting the Cupra R fog inserts but not sure they’re worth 135 quid tbh, especially when on lease for just a few years. They do make the front end look much better though.

I have lux version magnetic grey for almost a year now and this is soooooo much fun to drive , drive in comfort like any other seat and switch to cupra - car changes to monster
Its a great car to live with day to day, a nice all round compromise between fun and easy to live with! Glad you're enjoying yours.
Nice vid. I’ve had 3 Ibiza fr’s, and currently in a Leon fr. but I’m getting my cupra 290 next week, can’t wait, but it’s my first automatic ever! And did it feel weird on the test drive. I’m sure I’ll get used to it though. Everyone keeps telling me once you go auto you’ll never drive a manual again. I’ll be keeping an eye out on your channel to pick up any tips and tricks. Have fun.
Hope you enjoy it. Its my second cupra, they are great cars. Auto definitely makes for an easier life, but of course I do miss a manual sometimes when country road bashing!

How you liking it? Had mine delivered a few weeks back (Urban Silver) and its been great. Had the 1.4 fr previously.
Yeah really enjoying it. I must admit its taking a bit of getting used to the DSG7, I had the DSG6 in my last Cupra (67 plate) and it was a lot more lurchy around town and immediate. This one is very lazy and slips through first gear to make it smooth round town which is nice but also can be annoying at times when you want a faster launch. Great all rounder though and amazing value! Its a big step up power wise from the 1.4 I bet.
@@ItsDanLatham yeah quite a hike in power of course. I tend to laze around in comfort most of the time and find the dsg really smooth. Even in Cupra I'll knock it back to D instead of S most of the time. Until my workmate appears in his M135i trying flex 😂
Hi dude! Love your vids. I’m a Cupra fan and after watching your Cupra 300 vids I’m finally getting one. Any tips on protecting it against theft? I’m getting the signal blocker pouch and maybe a steering wheel lock ...but any other suggestions ?
Thanks! I bet you'll love it. You're pretty well covered there. Think about home security too (anti snap locks, CCTV). Some people also get custom immobilizer solutions such as ghost. And maybe even a dashcam, they record when the car moves and if a thief is caught the footage may prove useful if untouched.
I’ve got a 2018 2.0 TDI 184 Leon which I had remapped to 218bhp and 450nm of torque 2 days ago. Love it after the map, these are great cars. I saw your video about the GTD golf tuned to 240bhp and I know the 184 Leon has the same turbo as the GTD but I’m happy with 218bhp and don’t want to push it too much. Great video!
Lewis Harrison It probably wouldnt have reached the full 240bhp quoted but I was happy felt like a big performance gain. They are a good engine pretty economical even when making progress. Thanks for watching!
RideWithMe yeah you’re probably right it’s not accurate unless you get it on a dyno. Yeah they’re very economical, I just tried launch control in my stage 1 and got 6.8 seconds 0-60 which I don’t know if is good or bad 😂
Lewis Harrison well the cupra standard is about a second faster than that, so not bad at all for a diesel. I was tempted by a bmw 435d or something similar but was put off by insurance and maintenance costs
Got mine in white around the same time. Two days later the EPC light came on and it went into limp mode on its first motorway run! Straight back to the dealership. Turns out the exhaust manifold hadn’t been fitted to the turbo properly. Seat quality control, where you at!?

Oh mate that's bad luck. To be honest the steering on mine feels a little vague on the motorway, compared to my last one. I spose thats what we get for not getting an Audi S3 🤔😂
@@ItsDanLatham tbf the dealership had it sorted and back the next day. I’m still getting used to the DSG box, haven’t really used it in manual but I find when in S trying to get it to not drop a gear or two when I accelerate can be quite frustrating! I’m pretty sure I’m not hitting the kickdown button. I’d like to sometimes just use that torque!
Buy some alloy gators they are brilliant, if you get the black ones they are practically invisible really save your wheels from kerbing I have them on all my cars, alloy wheel designs are stupid with them being so close to the edge of the tyre.
I had a lux in dark grey back in 2019. Gave it back after 10 months due to having 2 theft attempts on it (burglary attempts to get keys). I know 2 people in the past 2 years who had them on lease, both stolen inside of 6 months.
Sorry to hear, I’ve heard lots about this over the years but seems to have calmed down recently. Depends on the area for sure but theres no point having something if it’s putting you in danger.

Why you don't wait for the new leon? 2020-2021
Because it will be a lot more expensive than current deals on these, for a very similar car, that I'm not too keen on the look of and that has already received some somewhat poor reviews.
The new Leon is quite disappointing. I was looking to get one, but decided against it. I’m no stranger to Seat cars, I’ve had 4 and just bought the Cupra 290. You would be mad to get the new Leon over one of these. This is the best looking, and value for money in its class.

The interior of new leon it's really awesome and that stiring well on cupra it's what I dream, have a cupra button. I have the leon cupra 300 and I'm glad to have it, but that interior from new cupra it's really awesome 😳

Good choice! My last one had heated seats and sunroof but this one was already built at standard spec so I went with it !

Nice dude, how long did you have to wait from ordering to delivery?
Only about 2 months as these were end of production cars that had been pre-ordered. My last Cupra was a factory order and I had to wait around 4 months. The anticipation for delivery day is always really exciting though!
Touch that, trying to win one off BOTB until the dying Saudi Prince that keeps emailing me sends the £30k through! Recognise the car park though so if I see you about in it I’ll give you a flash and you can see if it’ll outrun my 56 Prius 😂😂

You going to do any mods? Or even res delete? If its on lease is it fine to do if i get it undone before giving it back?
I don't think I'm going to touch the exhaust on this one - the res delete is a little loud for my liking, as its my only car I quite like it to be subtle. Generally a lease doesn't allow you modify the car, but small reversible things are often seen as fine.
@@ItsDanLatham they’re nowhere near as loud on these GPF models. Having mine done next week. Can’t really tell much difference on the videos I’ve heard. Just slightly louder pops and a bit more of a deeper tone. Will let you know how I get on.
@@samculpan891 I really need to hear one in person to make my mind up! I’ve done about 1500 miles now and the exhaust does open up a bit but its nowhere near as obvious as my 300 exhaust was standard.
@@ItsDanLatham yeah, they deffo start getting a bit more louder with a few miles. Mines got 2500 now. Just want the pops and crackles to be louder and maybe a bit of a deeper tone with minimal drone. From what I’ve heard, that’s exactly what you get with these ones with the filters. Pre-GPF cars are asbo loud after exhaust mods, as I know you’re well aware of 😅
get a VAG sport res delete, revo stage 1 and michelin ps4s's. Did this to mine and it's a bloody monster now
I've got PS4's and just uploaded a video on the VAGSport res delete. So just a stage 1 to go then !
@@ItsDanLatham I'm still rocking the og pzeros that are getting a bit low on the front. Rear still loads to go. How do you find the ps4s's when it gets cold and wet? Have read horror stories about the tyres being like plastic when it gets cold.
@@Veyron_fan Definitely a little light in the wet but not as bad as people make out. I prefer the PS4S personally, the PS4 I have on now feel a bit wooly motorway cruising.

I'm clueless when it comes to cars, whats the significance of the cars being 70 plates? I'm curious since it says in the title xD
Peter Boyle 70 plate is the newest registration here in the UK, starting from September 2020 and running until March 2021 which will be 21 plate. Then in September 2021 it will be 71 plate. And so on. The purpose of it in the title is just to signify they are brand new cars!

Peter Boyle It is slightly confusing for the end of year plates. Easier to remember when its 19, 20, 21 etc. Come 2050 they’ll have to change it again to avoid overlap!
@@ItsDanLatham Yeah I've only been driving for two years now so its all still a bit new to me. Got a private registration though last week so hopefully I can avoid having to wait on the start of year plates because I'll just transfer the private one
