Hi from Germany, good skills for the Cupra and Leon 5F! Many Leon-Driver are unsing the "stronger" struts, but they often destroys the holder in the chassis oder the tailgate, because there is too much pressure on these things. In the worst case, the tailgate gets damaged. Greets.
I have the 2011 cupra 1p and honeslty it is fucking epic. I’ve had it for about a year and finally got the confidence and knowledge of the car to really push it. Cupra’s are such underrated cars. Coming from Renaultsport I’d say it’s very close to being on par to the same year RS’s
Looks awesome mate. Never knew it was so easy! Subbed! Looking forward to seeing tasteful mods on this car. Just collected my '20 290 last week and looking for some OEM+ type of mods.

Its surprising how many little mods you can do on the seat leon for not that much money, they seem readily set up to do these mods like on all VW cars or if you want to tune them.
Hats off to you two for putting the part numbers in the description. I was looking at the Stabilus struts you used and they say they have 515 Newtons of force and Ridex actually makes them too for the Octavia (same part number) but with 470N, which would make it easier to close, but do you think it would it be enough to open the boot?
Hey, could you please provide exact length and stroke of your tailgate struts. I have tried to fit the ones from octavia combi but they do not fit. I am wondering if it would be okay to use ones with longer stroke and just be partially closed all the time.

Nice vid man! But how dit you get the struts compressed to fit? They are a bit longer than the original SEAT ones. At least I cant compress them by hand. Did you use some kind of strap or something?
Rieger Tuning. I had it imported a few years ago when it was first released and not available in the UK, but you can get them on ebay now. And good call on the documents, thats how I sorted mine in the end.
Ibiza will likely need different struts to this but no wiring at all its just a hydraulic strut! I’m sure if you look on the ibiza owners club on facebook someone will have done it and provide a link to the ones they use
@@ItsDanLatham okay mate Thankyou. I’ll have a look! They’re only cheap might just try it! So you literally just fit them in and it opens it electronically! That’s ace
@@JonHallMusic96 The button on the remote pops the catch, and because the hydraulics in these are stronger, its enough to propel the boot open by itself once its not holding onto the catch. There's no electronics. The only down side is that it makes the boot heavier to close because you're pushing against a higher pressure strut!
Some nice little mods there. Not that bothered about the LED reverse light tbh but the boot struts have got me thinking. A couple of free mods I’ve done to my last 2 cars have been to remove the bonnet insulation, for a bit more engine noise, and take out the snow grate from the air box, for a bit more induction sound. Both are minimal, but they’re also free and only take a few minutes to do.
You'd be surprised the difference the LED makes, it doesnt show up too well on camera. Just seems odd to have LED everywhere else then a normal bulb there. The boot struts are a nice cheap easy one. I've definitely done a few air box mods in my time. I remember drilling holes in a VW bora airbox back in the day for my mate! I keep thinking about exhaust but its definitely got louder as the miles increase.
