    One of the best things I have found to patch a nail is Starbucks napkins. You have to separate them. I don’t know why, but they are strings. Since they are brown you have to paint over them if the brown patch will bother you.

    Hi! When you redo the gel and start all over, to remove do you file down and soak in acetone or what? Also after you cure the builder gel, remove sticky residue and file after filling do you do anything before applying peel base or dip powder?

    • @Guylene325
      @Guylene325  4 роки тому +1

      I rarely remove it all. I usually file off anything lifting and re apply like a fill. And the only thing I do is clean with alcohol before peel off.

      @@Guylene325 I've been reading about methacryate in gel vs dip. I like using dip powder as base with peel base, but dip lifts between dip applications. I do it to avoid soaking off in acetone. Have you tried using dip as base before? If yes, is builder gel better?

    I really like the idea of using those fibers to fix a nail break. It seems stronger than a silk patch and maybe it won't peel up at the edges like a wrap does. I only have natural nails though, so I wonder if there is a similar product for us natural gals?

      It is a little different than the builder. No need for a base coat first, and it's a thicker formula that levels really nice. If you have builder you don't really have to have rubber base, but it's a really great update to a favorite.

      They go on sale a lot but the best way to get them is to just join the vip membership. Its $29 that you get in store credit and it makes them half price. You can usually get 3 gel polishes for your $29 vip membership store credit but you can buy/add as many as you want and still get them at half price, then cancel your membership, which is super easy. I've started and stopped mine many times now. Sometimes I just let it run and picked 3 polishes a month until I had every color in my wishlist, now I have a huge collection.

    Which do you prefer, ultimately? Dip (with gel in lieu of the glue) or builder gel? More importantly, which is easier to fill for someone new?
    I have a decent dip selection (Thank you Wish), but would like to try builder gel.

    • @Guylene325
      @Guylene325  4 роки тому

      For me, builder gel as an overlay. Mostly because I can change out regular polish using acetone and not hurt my overlay if I do it quickly. And I can use a peel of base over it then use dip or gel colors.
      But, dip is probably easier for most people to fill, because it's easier to soak off whether you use gels or dip liquids.
      Regardless of what kind of base overlay you use, learning and getting used to the e file has made it all easier to maintain.
      But if I didn't do this as a part time job....... I think I'd prefer builder gel and regular polish. That's what I've done the longest on myself.
      Great question Jo.
