Although I love all your work Kirsty, it’s actually nice to see some natural nails and shorter designs too. As you know it’s not practical for everyone to have certain length nails. So seeing these makes a nice change. Your nail look fabulous Kirsty x
Mr or Ms Audio Person - you have done a bang-up job on the audio levels. I can hear the banter between Kirsty and Adam without piercing my eardrums when Kirsty laughs. So often, I'm using my volume constantly while watching vids on this channel but this vid I didn't touch it once. Kirsty and Adam make such a great team and you can tell they have a good time working together. Your whole team Rocks! Thanks again from British Columbia.
Yassss, I couldn't agree more! Spot on! Please do make the intro a little quieter though. I always have to mute it. Love you guys, and thank you for putting out some shorter videos too. Love a whole hand, but it's great to be able to see one nail in more detail. xxx
I’ve been doing my own nails for a while now and I loooooove builder gel for my natural nails. It keeps them strong and they’ve grown out longer than I could have ever imagined. I use a clear builder gel (two layers) then I use whatever gel polish on top. It nice because I can change up the color anytime without removing the clear builder gel. It’s a miracle in a bottle honestly!
ok so how long were your nails when u started ... i have yet to use my builder gel lol i have been using the gel polish and full cover nails my nails were growing img finally had some free edge and then they all started to break right when i was getting ready to use the gel lol now i have to wait once again ..... so my question is can thus been done on your nails if they are short
@@shauwn_oy14, absolutely can be done with short nails. I started with poly gel and dual forms until I had a fair amount of growth, then did builder gel overlays to continue. No forms being used after that. I can't type with long nails, so I keep mine short -with my nail just peeking over the top of my finger. I want to try solid gels now.
Kirsty you’re my hero! I was in a class and admitted I bite my nails and it gonsmacked by another student with the comment of “You’re a nail tech and you bite your nails! That’s not professional!” My response was I’m not alone there are many top professionals who also bite their nails so bugger off!
I LOVE when you do your own nails! These videos help me SO much because I do my own nails at home with gel polish or builder gel. Don't get me wrong I love ALL the videos but I'm never gonna do super long acrylic stiletto nails on myself. I'd love to see more gel polish designs that can be done on shorter nails. I'm thinking about trying to do tortoise shell nails next! 🐢💅
@@RhondaReally take the leap!! Try bottled builder and structure gels, it's not as hard as you think. i'm still in the beggining of the video but i'm actually glad to see an overlay done by a professional once in a while, i really think people don't use their natural nails as a base often enough, i do this for mine because i really like the extra strenght it gives and i'vedoing this for YEARS now like almost 7 years already [ i just keep up the shape, and lenght i like, around 2cm, of natural below and overlay ontop, just as good as extensions but with that extra 'oomph' since for me at least it's way less common to have any lifting, breakage, and cracks in general]
I really enjoy watching and listening to you. I've learnt so much in the last two days staying up til the wee hours of the morning watching your teaching videos. Hahaha! lovely!
I hope you can do that❤️ I want to do that in college to get some side money. I’m actually starting now at 14 I found a cheap Wish polygel nail kit and I’m super exited to try it. Wish had good quality stuff for cheap so that’s a great start.
I pretty much exclusively wear builder in a bottle these days (not this brand) and have found that you can get away with longer nails if you are willing to let the natural nail grow underneath for support. It’s a matter of preference , but an option nonetheless!
I was so relieved that your natural nails were that long under the acrylic you removed. I was worried that I was doing my rebases wrong by not doing brand new sets every so often. I hope that made sense. I love your videos. I always learn so much from them that I can apply when doing mine.
You do great nails like a rock star. Best teacher that gives master classes. I have a tip for you get some collagen with peptides in it to strengthen your nails.
I can so relate to your wanting to remove your natural nails.... when I don’t have extensions on I chew my poor nails right down to the quick! But little videos like this encourage me for the in between times when resting them from acrylics. Thank you woman!
Fab hun. I use my builder in a bottle to do infills. As I now have 4 children the youngest now being 6 months old I don't always have time to do a proper infill. Xxx
YAY! Doing your own nails! The teacher doing her nails! They look hreat by the way! Great! Builder gel! I've been using more gel and poly gel on my fingernails because there is no smell. I still love your channel Kirsty!
Love love love!!, 😍 plain Jane is my thing, and so much easier for me to change( which is at least once a week) 🤦♀️especially after a long week at work 😥👍it brightens up my mood, thank you kirsty 😘
Oh, what a pretty color! It's just gorgeous on Kirsty's hands. It seemed a bit weird not to add any crystals or glitter to any of the nails, though. No paintings, either.
i love this video because I wanted to do my own nails but they are so thin and tear easilt so the builder gel will help alot! and I love the nail color, will try that out aswell, thanks for the links of the products.
Omg thank you I love you and I have been looking for a good overlay video and this just popped up! Best nail teacher ever everything is so clearly explained in detail yet with humour and without rambling ! Lots of love ❤
I just ordered builder in a bottle! Clear pink and white. Along with some gel colors, base and top coat, and I don’t remember what else. I’m super excited!
WELL? How did it go for you ? If you get a chance to answer me it would be so great of you ! I have thin nails too, sensitive to the touch when I have some products on them or even from water when pruned from it. However, I got Kiara Sky Nail Gel Kit and I plan on doing them as soon as all the polish and things I ordered come. May Jesus Keep You ~
this left me with so many questions. 1. how does the builder react when the natural nail is very flexible. I did a gel overlay on a customer but her nails were flexible and the gel was hard gel that was very rigid and the result was that she had so much lifting. (and no it wasn't lack of prep, I prepped them within an inch of their life) 2. Out of the products you work with how would you class them when it comes to extensions? what product is more suitable to which length of nails. 3. I work in gels and if I'm making really long extensions I'm always unsure if gel is the best to go with or if I should try and train with the acrylic, does it really matter as long as the apex is high/solid enough?
From my experiences *disclaimer I am not a licenced nail tech* builder in a bottle has worked well with my nails which are very flexible but I can't go more than about 1/2 inch from where my nail bed ends. For length I usually use acrylic, but I have tried gel and have never liked the results. I know there are techs that can create a long nail that lasts with gel though. Again this is coming from someone thay is not licenced so I could be wrong...
As far as your 3rd question... once acrylic is set and hard gel is cured... they are pretty much the same density.... so as long as your structure is good the long gel extensions should be juuuust as sturdy as the acrylic counterpart. Of course, assuming prep and prime is top notch 🙃🤗 Try it... try putting acrylic on a nail form and do the same with gel and cure... if the thickness of both is the same it (should) have the same strength (of course, variables with product brands and blah blah... but I’m talking general terms, hope you understand what I mean lol) **disclaimer... I am a licensed nail tech lol... Light Elegance has great education on gel in their series with their very smart chemist... hope that helps 💕
I'm a trainee and I find that if I do gel with more length they don't last.. So I personally prefer acrylic for extended length. I mean half an inch is probably the max I would go to with gel anything more and they will just snap off me as I'm heavy handed.
Not a nail tech either, but Natasha Lee did a video explaining this. Gel in general is more flexible than acrylic. She said if your nails are more brittle, use a flexible medium like gel. If your nails are very bendy and flexible use something stiff like acrylic
Rght! Been watching your videos for a while now trying to pluck up the courage to get my own ones done. I'm 50 and never been to a salon. My niece once stuck some nails on me about 10 years ago maybe more. Burned me with the lamp, it felt like the glue & varnish was running onto my skin and cut me with the filing so I've been really scared to get them done since. I've seen other different people on UA-cam do nails and they all could do with going back to nursery school never mind college.. I just need to suck up & get them done. I've actually managed to take a lovely pic of a set of kirstys own nails not one of her designs, I dont think folk round here are that good, lol but a lovely set of ombre with a couple of Crystal's on one finger of each hand. & a simple almond. I had my acrylics off and had an overlay, and the guy who did my nails said it is just an acrylic over the natural nail. I was surprised cos it still looks like I have acrylics still with the acrylic underneath my nail!! Plus my nails have been bleeding, like inside the nail bed I think the acrylic has aggravated my nail! Love your channel just found you!

I’ve been using Builder in a Bottle, rose quartz, as an overlay on my natural nails for a few months now and I’m loving it! I always like growing my nails out but when they’d get a certain length, I’d get a break, but not anymore.
Anne Findley is that hard to do on yourself? My nails are SUPER weak, and I don’t want much length. Thinking of trying to learn how to do this on myself
Tiffany Sanchez I found it pretty easy to do. On my non dominant hand that has short nails, it takes a little more time but the more I do it, the easier it gets. And infills are really easy to do also. Definitely give it a try!
Do you have a video on what drill bits you use when and where you buy them? It’s just that my drill bits kind of suck and I don’t know if it’s because I use them in the wrong way or if the suck on there own 😂😂
So this is the length that I have to do all day almost everyday. I'm having thickness issues because everyone wants some sort of encapsulated art but they don't want length. Any videos or suggestions??? Thanks, love you
Are you using builder gel, Gloria? If so I would recommend keeping any art as low as possible. So starting with a thin base coat (not building any strength yet), then creating your design, and then going in with clear builder to encapsulate your work. Hopefully that will help you with bulkiness!!

missmia196 did you try the builder gel? From everything I’ve seen polygel looks much easier to handle since it doesn’t run everywhere but I haven’t tried it myself.
@@madabouthollyoaks411 your right polygel is easier to place and doesn't run. but if you do one finger at time, do a very thin wet layer then sculpt with the builder gel in bottle before curing its not to bad, just don't fuss with it to much.

Love them. When I am curing anything I lay my palm flat so my thumb is facing backward and use 2 lights, a big one for my 4 fingers and a small single nail lamp for my thumb. That way everything is flat and cured properly.
I love how these are short for this channel but about how long my own nails are, and I find them to be long! (fake nails because my natural nails don't grow well, they split from tip to cuticle if they get too long)
Hi Kirsty, I have a couple of questions. Why didn't you use a primer? Is a non acid primee better than one with acid? Also, why did you go side to side with the builder gel? Thank you 😊
How come when I go to the actual naio nails site I can never find the selections of products that you have . The acrylic paints for instants only have 4 colors in and they are all browns with the exception of one red .
Although I love all your work Kirsty, it’s actually nice to see some natural nails and shorter designs too. As you know it’s not practical for everyone to have certain length nails. So seeing these makes a nice change. Your nail look fabulous Kirsty x

i felt every bit that you done to your nails, especially the cuticle oil, felt so wonderful! one day i will purchase all your products bcuz i got my products from china, i know dont come at me, sally's didnt have what i was looking for
Love them. When I am curing anything I lay my palm flat so my thumb is facing backward and use 2 lights, a big one for my 4 fingers and a small single nail lamp for my thumb. That way everything is flat and cured properly.
Love the silver hair!!!
I just found this video!! I hope I can learn some things here. I am such a tomboy! AWESOME!!
I have extremely thin nails. The build in a bottle js perfect to add strength to my nails.
Wow that’s the type of e-file I need
I just stumbled across your channel and you are fantastic! This is exactly what I've been looking for! 😍

Love your glasses!
Love !!!!
Gorgeous thanks
You said Taco!! I think you know Cristine. 😄
I’d love to know where you got your beautiful necklace Kirsty 😀
Question. Can you remove the gel polish colour without affecting the builder gel? What do you do when you want to change colour of your gel polish?
You make it look so easy.
I love how these are short for this channel but about how long my own nails are, and I find them to be long! (fake nails because my natural nails don't grow well, they split from tip to cuticle if they get too long)
Very pretty 💕
Hi Kirsty, I have a couple of questions. Why didn't you use a primer? Is a non acid primee better than one with acid? Also, why did you go side to side with the builder gel? Thank you 😊
How come when I go to the actual naio nails site I can never find the selections of products that you have . The acrylic paints for instants only have 4 colors in and they are all browns with the exception of one red .
Pink pinapple smells sooooo good!
