Great review. I’m here 5 years later during post-Covid inflation. They have an open bottom version for $850-995 depending on sales and this cabinet style for $1100-1300 depending on sales. That’s not including freight or taxes for now. It does seem to have the only full sized mobile base included of the similar hybrid/contractor saws like Delta, Ridgid, Jet, Laguna F1, Harvey, Rikon, SawStop, Makiswa, and Shop Fox. The others seem to have 3 wheel integrated lifts with mixed reviews due to having small casters. This one is the only entry level one with cast iron wings and trunions mounted to the cabinet instead of to the top at this price point that I know of too. I think that a couple of others have the upgrades offered from stamped steel but at steep price increases. I’m a hobbyist wanting to up my game from a jobsite saw without even a riving knife or splitter when the blade guard is removed for joinery cuts. While the Delta from Lowe’s with the stamped steel wings is currently the value king with best reviews at around $700, grizzly’s two hybrid options (open stand and closed cabinet) are hard to ignore. It’ll be a difficult decision when I’m ready to make that leap
I’m on the hunt for this range saw as well right now. The delta is tough to beat but I feel like the upgrades you get to a Grizzly or Laguna at the 1k price point is fairly decent. I’ve been on my local used market for about two months and nothing good has popped up so I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting new. I’m between this grizzly and the F1 Laguna unless I want to jump up to the 2k price point.
@@ajvc2233 yeah the grizzly hybrid, grizzly hybrid cabinet style, and the Leguna don’t show up used online near me either. A used delta 5100 series at a good price with the cast iron wings would be awesome, but I won’t get that lucky most likely. Good luck 👍

Thank you Matt for your review. I too, have this very same saw that I purchased about 3 years ago. I am STILL in love with this thing. Understand that this has been the first big purchase for my shop and have have been pleasantly surprised. All that being said my 2 biggest issues with the saw are the scale on the rail and the miter gauge. On mine the scale loses precision as you go further from the blade so I just use a tape measure to set my width of cut. Not a major issue. That and the miter gauge is difficult to set precisely so have ordered an aftermarket unit to replace. Having said all that I STILL say this was one of the BEST purchases I have ever made. I absolutely love using my saw. The old "contractors" saws I used to use were fine for construction work but this one blows them all away.
Matt, I think you and I are on the same page about what is important in a saw. Can't believe some of the garbage reviews I've waded through the past two weeks. You are on the money, informative, to the point, with the right topics. I want accuracy, and like you have done, I'm moving from the "job site" saw to a good one. I'm not a "pro" either, but neither can I live with "sorta good enough" in my projects. It can be done, but it's a TON of work to get the accuracy you need from a lesser quality saw. Life is too short. Have been leaning toward the new Delta cast iron wing 5100T2, but, now I'm having to do a little more Grizzly research. THANK YOU for this video.
Very good job. I like your fence setup. That was pretty clever. I have this same saw and have it now for a little over a year. Still like it. I did replace the fence on mine with an Incra positioner. It's pretty slick!
Great review, you might have me talked into it. Just a note from a retired machinist, there are two easy ways to drill the large and small holes through the aluminum tubing. 1st, drill with a hole saw and start the second hole with the pilot drill, then drill the through hole to size. 2nd, drill a 1/4” hole through both walls, the drill the holes to size doing the larger hole first. I just thought of a third way, use a step drill.

@@NotThatMattNagy My old Ridgid TS3612's fence had the same type of design, it was excellent for attaching accessories and jigs without damaging or modifying the fence....so glad this G0771Z is built the same way. I've only had this saw for about a month, and haven't used it very much, but man its a great saw...once you get past the assembly time and setup its well worth it.
I just got this saw two weeks ago based partly on this video. Delivery was fast post-holiday season (less than two weeks) but cost was more in my area largely due to taxes and shipping ($1200 all in). Wired it for 240V and put a longer 240v plug/power cord on. No cover fasteners were shipped with it at all, but luckily I had the exact metric ones I needed on hand even with the matching finish (miracle). Also, I had problems with the rear bearing for the fence not touching the aft rail even when at max height. It turned out to be an error in where they drilled the mounting holes on the aft rail (too low) that I compensated for by putting a larger rear aft bearing on the fence and all is ok now. So there are certainly some fit and finish issues with this saw that are typical of imported Chinese products but if you are mechanically adept you can overcome them and it's still worth the money.
I was looking for a table saw and this was the one I had picked out, and this video just happened to be in my recommended videos. I plan to just buy Grizzley's router extension, though your building your own is cool.
You won't be disappointed. I just bought this saw about a month ago. Aside from a couple hours of assembly, its a great saw...I have no complaints about it. I got mine setup, checked all the tolerances and put it to work for a couple small projects. It works great and I just got it set out in my shop last weekend and converted to 220V. Plenty of power even ran some oak through it the other day and the saw didn't even care. Mine didn't have a mobile base, I ordered a WEN brand universal mobile base off Amazon....it worked great...the saw is a little over 300 pounds once you get it fully assembled with the fence/rail assembly installed. So a 500 pound capacity mobile base would be the lightest I'd go. I ordered a Gripper push block as well as a stacked dado set. I use the Diablo blades, which are thin kerf...so caution on that the saw ships with a standard kerf riving knife....so you'll want to order a thin kerf riving knife, which I've done and they are on back order of course.

I have a different saw, but this one looks like a good upgrade. The price is not bad at all. It'd be nice if I can find a distributor that gives a veteran's discount. Oh, when I check to make sure my fence is parallel to the blade, I just set the edge of the fence against at the edge of the miter slot and then lock it down. I just look to the back side to see whether or not it is still aligned with the slot. If it is then the fence is properly aligned.
you can take all the slop out of the miter ga with a center punch and hammer, drive the center punch on both side of the miter gauge bar close to the center of the top lips in the front and back side of the bar both sides and fine tune the bar with sandpaper your raising the metal slightly to make it snug in the slot. any table saw if the t slot isn't straight with the blade you can adjust the table, the directions show you how to. you can also set the 90 and 45 angles, as well as correct the fence. to test the ruler I set the fence at 4" the make a cut and measure that with my calipers, you can move the rails over to the right about 12" or less to make wider cuts. you should be able to fix the fence angle to a perfect 90 dgr My saws have biesemeyer fences I like that style also.
I just bought this saw about a month ago. Assembly takes a while, I hate these hex head screws everything uses, lots of aggravation getting the allen wrench in just the right position to go in the openings....A regular Philips screw would work just fine for all these machines. Aside from that, assembly just takes quite a while, so yep, set aside a couple hours just to assemble the saw. I got the WEN Universal Heavy Duty Mobile Base, easy to assemble, and the saw wasn't too bad to set in the base (I have a tractor with pallet forks that I used a couple of lifting slings to pick the saw up and set on the base). I'd say the saw weighs a little over 300 pounds with everything installed, and the fence rails and fence. Its heavy, it should be heavy. I haven't used my saw much yet, still trying to get things put together in the shop, and finish the floor. I've used it enough to say, its a great saw for the money, the blade height and tilt is extremely smooth, the saw is pretty quiet, and I have mine converted to 220V, it starts up smooth, and fast...plenty of power, and mine was setup square right out of the box, I didn't have to adjust anything, but I was prepared to spend another hour doing so if I needed to. I did put a coat of paste wax on the table after I got it setup. The owner's manual is very detailed in the assembly and calibration section....the finish is great, the only thing I found is the motor cover and the holes in the cabinet don't quite line up very well, so the motor cover don't have all the screws in it LOL. I had a Ridgid TS3612 for over 20 years, it was a great saw, and was also on 220V, but it seemed a little louder, but it was also a contractor saw, so the motor stuck out the back of the saw, rather than being enclosed in the cabinet...so that might have been the noise level difference. I need to get the dust collection system done in my shop too, so I can hook the saw up to the dust collector when I get everything done. In 2024 this saw is $1200 plus $250 for shipping. So $1450...price has pretty much doubled since your video. When my saw was delivered they sent it with liftgate service which I think was $40. I unloaded it with my tractor and pallet forks....Just know that this saw weighs around 300 pounds, so you better be prepared to receive it. You aren't just gonna pick the crate up and carry it around without some sort of assistance. Another note as well, when you go to assemble it, pick a place that is nice and level, like your garage floor, makes it easier to move things around, and you'll need some elbow room to assemble the saw. The saw itself comes on a palletized type crate, while the fence assembly comes in a separate cardboard box. So, you'll be receiving 2 packages when the shipment arrives at your home or business. Make sure you get both packages LOL. The delivery company DOES NOT unload or otherwise move your machine for you. They move it to the lift gate or to the back of the truck or trailer for you to unload. They aren't Fedex or UPS, they don't bring it to your door. So, that's something else to mention, make sure wherever you are receiving the machine has room for a semi-truck/trailer combo....they've been shipping using freight carriers here lately for these large heavy items.

I'd honestly love a Sawstop, but like you can't justify that kind of money LOL. I figured for what they want for the Sawstop I could buy an upgraded saw to my old Ridgid TS3612...however, that old Ridgid table saw I have no complaints about really, it was a great saw, but got passed onto family after my grandfather passed away, so it was an excellent excuse to buy a new saw HAHA!!!
I have one of these saws. Had trouble getting the blade square to the table top. Had trouble with the fence measuring tape. Inaccurate. They sent me a new one...it was ok. Happy with it now. My motor does NOT have a motor brake. Did yours come with that feature?

Thanks for the video! Still in the process of deciding which saw to go with. I'm curious as to what your thoughts are in regards to this Grizzly saw vs the big box store hybrid models. Specifically the Rigid and Delta hybrid saws sold at home depot and lowes respectively. Each of those models sell for around $600 vs the $1,000 for this Grizzly. I'm wondering if its worth spending the extra $400 for the Grizzly. Thanks again.
The Entrepreneurial Spirit I struggled with the decision myself. I researched the Delta at my local Lowe’s. It is slightly less powerful (13A) than the Grizzly (15A) but has a higher depth of cut than the Grizzly (3.5 vs 3.25). What sold me on the Grizzly was 1) fully enclosed cabinet, so better dust collection, 2) cast iron wings, more solid, 3) more heavier/sturdy than the Delta.
Craftex cx212 in Canada is a dead ringer off this saw. I'm hearing great things about it. Is it still your opinion that it's a good buy for a 120V home shop?

Kerry Schoolfield The base is not Grizzly, it is from PortaMate www.amazon.com/dp/B010HWCWOW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AJ0pCb7W5M4BB The saw does not sit on the floor when in the down position but rather on four points of contact at the corners of the base. These are welded onto the base.
would you purchase this saw again,,i have been looking at this one and the delta 36-735 that lowes sells and I like the fence system on delta but I have heard horror stories about deltas customer service,,,but if you look at the you tube videos on the saw everyone seems to not have any complaints other than the instructions aren't too good
Matt: Several easy questions. 1) Would I be able to make a zero clearance throat plate for this saw? Is the factory throat plate the usual thick one like on most cabinet saws, or is it more of a thin, stamped steel thing like on contractors and bench saws? Therefore making a zero clearance throat plate from say 1/2" plywood is not possible? I don't want to buy one for $30 or so. 2) If you raise the blade, then lock the handwheel with the knob does this then lock the blade into position so the mechanism will not drift downwards? The reason I ask is I have an old Grizzly G1022Z contractor's type saw and when you lock the knob on that one the knob merely holds the handwheel in place. And the blade is able to drift out of height (and tilt for that matter with the other wheel.) 3) Do you like the fence? Thanks. Good review. Happy and safe woodworking!
1) Its a thin stamped steel plate. The distance between the cast iron top of the saw and the "shelf" where the insert rests is very short. I made a zero clearance insert out of a 3/4" piece of oak, and notched out areas so it would sit flush, but it was a hassle. I could probably make another one and improve on the design, but I'm tempted to just buy the one that Grizzly sells. 2) I believe the knob just locks the up/down handwheel, but i rarely use it, and I have't noticed any drift in height or tilt. I keep the tilt handwheel knob cranked down though. 3) I like the T-slot design of the fence. Other than that, I'm not a fan of the fence. I might just need to tinker with it more, though.
I know that this is older but if you mark the side of your carbide tooth the laser may be easer to set. The shine metal of the carbide could enter fear with the laser.
I plan to purchase the same saw in about a week. Question for ya, how have the aluminum rails/bar held up? Do you see the need in the future to upgrade the rails/bar to the iron/steel ones? Thanks

David Heaton it is magnetic. I made my own zero clearance insert but it was kind of a hassle because there isn’t much room to work with. Grizzly sells a zero clearance insert made for the saw.
This is a great review. I have been looking into the same machine. I have 2 questions for you 1) Earlier this year I purchased a Rikon 10-326 bandsaw and the wt. was about the same, however it was boxed. The Grizzly is on a skid. Did the delivery co delivery this with a floor jack or a hand truck? Noticed an extension cord on a roll up...Is this a #10 wire yellow wire?
Bob Ippoliti it came on a pallet. The truck driver had a pallet jack and he just wheeled it into my garage. I can’t say if every driver will have a jack or be willing to roll it to its final destination for you.

this is a great review and im really thinking about getting this saw,,i bought a sawstop and before i picked it up i decided against it,,i was buying it for the safety part of the saw,,but 2600 dollars is alot of money,,i also looked at the delta from lowes but i was told the customer service was bad,,before buying this saw did you look at the delta that lowes sells and what were your thoughts on it
Hi Matt--can you please help me--I think I want to buy this saw but I am concerned that 2 hp may not be enough hp to cut hardwoods like Ash and Maple--have you have any issues with ripping hardwoods--I am just a weekend woodworker NOT a cabinet making shop that needs a high end and more expensive saw--LASTLY, can you tell me which mobile base you bought? Tim Davey I rip 3/4 oak and maple with no problem, just go slow and you’ll be fine. Resawing stock is also do-able, but I usually make a cut a quarter of the way through the stock, flip it over to make the other cut, then raise the blade to full depth and finish the cut. Makes it easier on the motor that way. The base is a Porta Mate PM 3500. Hope this helps.
Great review. Like your setup, i'll be copying it :).I have been looking at this one and it's big brother (G0833P ONLY because of the fence rail). I'm a little nervous about the G0771Z having an aluminum rail. Have you had any problem with it?
Thanks for the comment. I haven’t had a problem with fence rail. It sits just below the top of the saw anyway, so it’s rare that any workpieces ever come into contact with it and possibly damage it. Just by eyeballing it, it still looks as straight as the day I bought it, and I suspect putting in the router table helps because there is less chance it will get dented inward into the otherwise empty space.
Travis O saws are not the same. 0833 has different drive system completely. Also steel on 0833 is the shop classic with a modified aluminum add on instead of the white composite. 0833 also runs 400 rpm faster
How is the dust collection with this saw. I'm looking at buying one but noticed that the blade is not "encased" with the plastic shroud to catch saw dust and direct it straight to the port at the bottom of the saw like the other grizzly saws do. Is it worth jumping up to a bigger saw for that one piece or is the dust collection on this one good enough?
Its okay, it does best with finer dust, although I think it would probably be better if I plugged up the space between the cabinet and the cast iron top, but its still good. If I am cutting a lot of stuff, I will need to stop occasionally and vacuum off the top. Its kind of a pain in the ass to clean out the inside of the cabinet, since the heavier stuff falls to the bottom and doesn't get sucked into the vacuum, so I have to reach in the port and extract the debris by hand or use a long stick to brush the debris from above.
Matt, any idea if all the Grizzly dust collection systems are about the same? For instance, the G0899 is very similar. Aside from the blade guard dust collection on that saw, would they be about the same based on what you know?
Thanks for the excellent review. You showed the Riving knife and did not comment on it. Have you had difficulty or any issues with it, changing blades etc. . I also am a hobbyist and I am using a 50 year old Craftsman saw that I have to check with every cut which really slows down things. I was considering buying a new fence but for $300 think it would be like putting lipstick on a pig.
Bill williams It can be a pain to take out and put on. But I do it so infrequently that it isn’t really a big deal for me. I’ve not noticed any misalignment between the riving knife and the blade.
After having the saw for some time, how do u like it? Is there any major issues that you have run into? I am thinking about getting this saw or the the new Delta.
Overall I really like it. No major issues to speak of. I make sure to maintain the saw and it’s components regularly (cleaning and protecting the cast, dusting/vacuuming out the inside, lubricating the gears, cleaning the blade). I haven’t had to replace any of the components yet. The locking mechanism for the fence has been giving me some issues lately, but I might just need to fiddle with it.
Matt, I'm considering a Grizzly hybrid like this one. My main concern is how does it power thru hardwood, especially thicker stock? I currently have a Craftsman contractor saw that is claimed to have 1.75hp. I know that if I go over 1-1/2" hardwood stock it starts to bog down. Now that you've lived with this saw for about 2 years now what is your experience with thicker hardwoods? I'm trying to figure out if this would meet my needs or if I should go with their 3hp saw for about $500 more. Are you still running it with 110v?
Jason Kassis it does okay with 3/4” hardwood, which is what i use 90% of the time. For thicker stuff, you just need to go slow. I think I’ve done up to 1.5” on hardwood, but nothing thicker. It’s not gonna cut like butter being only 1.75 HP, but it’s fine for my needs. If you do a lot of thick hardwood, you might want to consider a saw with more HP.

jeff oldham Aside from the 2 months it took the saw to get here, I have no complaints about Grizzly. I have actually contacted Grizzly’s customer service twice, and both times they were super helpful. One thing I didn’t mention: when I bought the saw, the rule was: if you buy online, you don’t have to pay sales tax, but you do pay for freight shipping. If you buy at one of the Grizzly stores, you will pay sales tax, but obviously not shipping. Something to keep in mind.
Does that laser gauge only measure to the nearest 1/32"? That's 31 thousandths, pretty wide for blade to slot alignment. I use a dial indicator and shoot for 3 thousandths, sometimes have to settle for 4. It isn't that the cut won't be square. It reduces burning and makes a cleaner cut to have the blade as near parallel as possible.
WDTA UT it was in fact closer to less than 1/64 over the length of the blade when i shot this. I never had issues with burning or imprecision. I’ve since jigged up a dial indicator and that’s what I use now
Hi Matt, did you have issues getting the blade at 90 when the blade is raised at maximum-noticed the motor housing hits the motor cover. It’s awful-had to cut a couple vent grill to allow the motor to reach topmost setting. Would be interested I’d you hit the same issue.
I haven't had that issue. My blade was cranked up to the max in this video and I've done it a few times since with none of the problems you're encountering. I'd contact Grizzly and let them know.
Does running this saw on 220 change the way it cuts thicker material, or is it all a question of horsepower? Does this saw have the option of upgrading to a larger motor or are you stuck with what ever comes with it? If so how big is big enough?
I believe rewiring it to 240 does not affect cut ability one way or the other at all, just affects how much current it draws. I’m not sure the answer to the second part of your question.
My 715p by the dust after 4 years....broken bull gear. After about a year of use, what is your position on this saw verse when you first did the review?
Bryan E Schwab I have no complaints. Just gave it a little TLC (vacuumed/air compressed all the nooks and crannies, re-sealed the cast iron, lubricated the gears) and its still performing well, nothing is broken.
Yes, I went back and forth heavily between the Shop Fox and the Grizzly. I found many more reviews on the Grizzly than the Shop Fox. Plus, Grizzly was running a sale on the saw at the time I bought and it made it only slightly more expensive than the Shop Fox. The combination of those two things is mostly why I went with the Grizzly. I don't think the Shop Fox is a bad choice at all, though.
The only thing I don’t like about this Saw is with the fence height adjuster nuts they scratch and wear out a line in the rail. Wish it was hdpe coated
I HAVE THE SAME SAW! NEED HELP! How do I adjust the fence if its not square to the front of the table? Where do i find a cheap dial indicator? Most of them are $50+! please any help from anyone here is appreciated!
Joshua, Do not panic! Go to Harbor Freight for a dial indicator and make yourself a wood device to hold it. There are plenty of videos about doing that on youtube. I actually made one almost like the original Woodpeckers saw alignment gauge which works great and didn't cost $90! Your fence is easily adjusted. First, read the manual. Remove the fence and you will see little set screws to adjust. On the vertical part of the angle iron which rides against the long bar. You will have to remove the fence and re-install it several times to get it right. Be patient, and just make small adjustments until the fence is parallel with the right miter gauge slot. You can slide a small shop ruler, or block of wood to determine if the edge of the fence and the top of the slot are flush. Or, use the tool at the end of your arm to feel if they are flush.

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
This might be late, but yest the trunnions are mounted to the cabinet. Look at the pics of the Shop Fox W1837 as it shows a picture with the top off of the saw. They are basically the same saw. One is an open cabinet with a mobile base and the other is a closed cabinet and includes cast iron wings. The internals are the same. Just like the Jet ProShop and Laguna F2 are the same on the inside. I have the ShopFox W1837 and I am happy with it so far, minus the new fence that the G0771Z and W1837 come with now. The new fence is an aluminum extrusion and it flexes a little bit more than it should IMO.

This one is the only entry level one with cast iron wings and trunions mounted to the cabinet instead of to the top at this price point that I know of too. I think that a couple of others have the upgrades offered from stamped steel but at steep price increases.
I’m a hobbyist wanting to up my game from a jobsite saw without even a riving knife or splitter when the blade guard is removed for joinery cuts. While the Delta from Lowe’s with the stamped steel wings is currently the value king with best reviews at around $700, grizzly’s two hybrid options (open stand and closed cabinet) are hard to ignore.
It’ll be a difficult decision when I’m ready to make that leap
I’m on the hunt for this range saw as well right now. The delta is tough to beat but I feel like the upgrades you get to a Grizzly or Laguna at the 1k price point is fairly decent. I’ve been on my local used market for about two months and nothing good has popped up so I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting new. I’m between this grizzly and the F1 Laguna unless I want to jump up to the 2k price point.
@@ajvc2233 yeah the grizzly hybrid, grizzly hybrid cabinet style, and the Leguna don’t show up used online near me either. A used delta 5100 series at a good price with the cast iron wings would be awesome, but I won’t get that lucky most likely.

Thank you Matt for your review. I too, have this very same saw that I purchased about 3 years ago. I am STILL in love with this thing. Understand that this has been the first big purchase for my shop and have have been pleasantly surprised. All that being said my 2 biggest issues with the saw are the scale on the rail and the miter gauge. On mine the scale loses precision as you go further from the blade so I just use a tape measure to set my width of cut. Not a major issue. That and the miter gauge is difficult to set precisely so have ordered an aftermarket unit to replace. Having said all that I STILL say this was one of the BEST purchases I have ever made. I absolutely love using my saw. The old "contractors" saws I used to use were fine for construction work but this one blows them all away.

Matt, I think you and I are on the same page about what is important in a saw. Can't believe some of the garbage reviews I've waded through the past two weeks. You are on the money, informative, to the point, with the right topics. I want accuracy, and like you have done, I'm moving from the "job site" saw to a good one. I'm not a "pro" either, but neither can I live with "sorta good enough" in my projects. It can be done, but it's a TON of work to get the accuracy you need from a lesser quality saw. Life is too short. Have been leaning toward the new Delta cast iron wing 5100T2, but, now I'm having to do a little more Grizzly research. THANK YOU for this video.

Just a note from a retired machinist, there are two easy ways to drill the large and small holes through the aluminum tubing. 1st, drill with a hole saw and start the second hole with the pilot drill, then drill the through hole to size. 2nd, drill a 1/4” hole through both walls, the drill the holes to size doing the larger hole first. I just thought of a third way, use a step drill.

@@NotThatMattNagy My old Ridgid TS3612's fence had the same type of design, it was excellent for attaching accessories and jigs without damaging or modifying the fence....so glad this G0771Z is built the same way. I've only had this saw for about a month, and haven't used it very much, but man its a great saw...once you get past the assembly time and setup its well worth it.
I just got this saw two weeks ago based partly on this video. Delivery was fast post-holiday season (less than two weeks) but cost was more in my area largely due to taxes and shipping ($1200 all in). Wired it for 240V and put a longer 240v plug/power cord on. No cover fasteners were shipped with it at all, but luckily I had the exact metric ones I needed on hand even with the matching finish (miracle). Also, I had problems with the rear bearing for the fence not touching the aft rail even when at max height. It turned out to be an error in where they drilled the mounting holes on the aft rail (too low) that I compensated for by putting a larger rear aft bearing on the fence and all is ok now. So there are certainly some fit and finish issues with this saw that are typical of imported Chinese products but if you are mechanically adept you can overcome them and it's still worth the money.

You won't be disappointed. I just bought this saw about a month ago. Aside from a couple hours of assembly, its a great saw...I have no complaints about it. I got mine setup, checked all the tolerances and put it to work for a couple small projects. It works great and I just got it set out in my shop last weekend and converted to 220V. Plenty of power even ran some oak through it the other day and the saw didn't even care.
Mine didn't have a mobile base, I ordered a WEN brand universal mobile base off Amazon....it worked great...the saw is a little over 300 pounds once you get it fully assembled with the fence/rail assembly installed. So a 500 pound capacity mobile base would be the lightest I'd go.
I ordered a Gripper push block as well as a stacked dado set. I use the Diablo blades, which are thin kerf...so caution on that the saw ships with a standard kerf riving knife....so you'll want to order a thin kerf riving knife, which I've done and they are on back order of course.

I have a different saw, but this one looks like a good upgrade. The price is not bad at all. It'd be nice if I can find a distributor that gives a veteran's discount. Oh, when I check to make sure my fence is parallel to the blade, I just set the edge of the fence against at the edge of the miter slot and then lock it down. I just look to the back side to see whether or not it is still aligned with the slot. If it is then the fence is properly aligned.
There are small allen screws in the sides of the miter bar to take the slop out of it.
you can take all the slop out of the miter ga with a center punch and hammer, drive the center punch on both side of the miter gauge bar close to the center of the top lips in the front and back side of the bar both sides and fine tune the bar with sandpaper your raising the metal slightly to make it snug in the slot.
any table saw if the t slot isn't straight with the blade you can adjust the table, the directions show you how to. you can also set the 90 and 45 angles, as well as correct the fence. to test the ruler I set the fence at 4" the make a cut and measure that with my calipers, you can move the rails over to the right about 12" or less to make wider cuts. you should be able to fix the fence angle to a perfect 90 dgr
My saws have biesemeyer fences I like that style also.
I just bought this saw about a month ago. Assembly takes a while, I hate these hex head screws everything uses, lots of aggravation getting the allen wrench in just the right position to go in the openings....A regular Philips screw would work just fine for all these machines. Aside from that, assembly just takes quite a while, so yep, set aside a couple hours just to assemble the saw. I got the WEN Universal Heavy Duty Mobile Base, easy to assemble, and the saw wasn't too bad to set in the base (I have a tractor with pallet forks that I used a couple of lifting slings to pick the saw up and set on the base). I'd say the saw weighs a little over 300 pounds with everything installed, and the fence rails and fence. Its heavy, it should be heavy. I haven't used my saw much yet, still trying to get things put together in the shop, and finish the floor. I've used it enough to say, its a great saw for the money, the blade height and tilt is extremely smooth, the saw is pretty quiet, and I have mine converted to 220V, it starts up smooth, and fast...plenty of power, and mine was setup square right out of the box, I didn't have to adjust anything, but I was prepared to spend another hour doing so if I needed to. I did put a coat of paste wax on the table after I got it setup. The owner's manual is very detailed in the assembly and calibration section....the finish is great, the only thing I found is the motor cover and the holes in the cabinet don't quite line up very well, so the motor cover don't have all the screws in it LOL.
I had a Ridgid TS3612 for over 20 years, it was a great saw, and was also on 220V, but it seemed a little louder, but it was also a contractor saw, so the motor stuck out the back of the saw, rather than being enclosed in the cabinet...so that might have been the noise level difference.
I need to get the dust collection system done in my shop too, so I can hook the saw up to the dust collector when I get everything done.
In 2024 this saw is $1200 plus $250 for shipping. So $1450...price has pretty much doubled since your video. When my saw was delivered they sent it with liftgate service which I think was $40. I unloaded it with my tractor and pallet forks....Just know that this saw weighs around 300 pounds, so you better be prepared to receive it. You aren't just gonna pick the crate up and carry it around without some sort of assistance.
Another note as well, when you go to assemble it, pick a place that is nice and level, like your garage floor, makes it easier to move things around, and you'll need some elbow room to assemble the saw. The saw itself comes on a palletized type crate, while the fence assembly comes in a separate cardboard box. So, you'll be receiving 2 packages when the shipment arrives at your home or business. Make sure you get both packages LOL.
The delivery company DOES NOT unload or otherwise move your machine for you. They move it to the lift gate or to the back of the truck or trailer for you to unload. They aren't Fedex or UPS, they don't bring it to your door. So, that's something else to mention, make sure wherever you are receiving the machine has room for a semi-truck/trailer combo....they've been shipping using freight carriers here lately for these large heavy items.

I'd honestly love a Sawstop, but like you can't justify that kind of money LOL. I figured for what they want for the Sawstop I could buy an upgraded saw to my old Ridgid TS3612...however, that old Ridgid table saw I have no complaints about really, it was a great saw, but got passed onto family after my grandfather passed away, so it was an excellent excuse to buy a new saw HAHA!!!

The Entrepreneurial Spirit I struggled with the decision myself. I researched the Delta at my local Lowe’s. It is slightly less powerful (13A) than the Grizzly (15A) but has a higher depth of cut than the Grizzly (3.5 vs 3.25). What sold me on the Grizzly was 1) fully enclosed cabinet, so better dust collection, 2) cast iron wings, more solid, 3) more heavier/sturdy than the Delta.
Craftex cx212 in Canada is a dead ringer off this saw. I'm hearing great things about it. Is it still your opinion that it's a good buy for a 120V home shop?

The saw does not sit on the floor when in the down position but rather on four points of contact at the corners of the base. These are welded onto the base.
would you purchase this saw again,,i have been looking at this one and the delta 36-735 that lowes sells and I like the fence system on delta but I have heard horror stories about deltas customer service,,,but if you look at the you tube videos on the saw everyone seems to not have any complaints other than the instructions aren't too good

Several easy questions.
1) Would I be able to make a zero clearance throat plate for this saw? Is the factory throat plate the usual thick one like on most cabinet saws, or is it more of a thin, stamped steel thing like on contractors and bench saws? Therefore making a zero clearance throat plate from say 1/2" plywood is not possible? I don't want to buy one for $30 or so.
2) If you raise the blade, then lock the handwheel with the knob does this then lock the blade into position so the mechanism will not drift downwards? The reason I ask is I have an old Grizzly G1022Z contractor's type saw and when you lock the knob on that one the knob merely holds the handwheel in place. And the blade is able to drift out of height (and tilt for that matter with the other wheel.)
3) Do you like the fence?

1) Its a thin stamped steel plate. The distance between the cast iron top of the saw and the "shelf" where the insert rests is very short. I made a zero clearance insert out of a 3/4" piece of oak, and notched out areas so it would sit flush, but it was a hassle. I could probably make another one and improve on the design, but I'm tempted to just buy the one that Grizzly sells.
2) I believe the knob just locks the up/down handwheel, but i rarely use it, and I have't noticed any drift in height or tilt. I keep the tilt handwheel knob cranked down though.
3) I like the T-slot design of the fence. Other than that, I'm not a fan of the fence. I might just need to tinker with it more, though.
I know that this is older but if you mark the side of your carbide tooth the laser may be easer to set. The shine metal of the carbide could enter fear with the laser.
I plan to purchase the same saw in about a week. Question for ya, how have the aluminum rails/bar held up? Do you see the need in the future to upgrade the rails/bar to the iron/steel ones? Thanks
They're okay. Just okay. I can't say they've been awful or detrimental, but i'm sure id like the steel ones better.

David Heaton it is magnetic. I made my own zero clearance insert but it was kind of a hassle because there isn’t much room to work with. Grizzly sells a zero clearance insert made for the saw.

This is a great review. I have been looking into the same machine. I have 2 questions for you 1) Earlier this year I purchased a Rikon 10-326 bandsaw and the wt. was about the same, however it was boxed. The Grizzly is on a skid. Did the delivery co delivery this with a floor jack or a hand truck? Noticed an extension cord on a roll up...Is this a #10 wire yellow wire?
Bob Ippoliti it came on a pallet. The truck driver had a pallet jack and he just wheeled it into my garage. I can’t say if every driver will have a jack or be willing to roll it to its final destination for you.

Hi Matt--can you please help me--I think I want to buy this saw but I am concerned that 2 hp may not be enough hp to cut hardwoods like Ash and Maple--have you have any issues with ripping hardwoods--I am just a weekend woodworker NOT a cabinet making shop that needs a high end and more expensive saw--LASTLY, can you tell me which mobile base you bought?

Tim Davey I rip 3/4 oak and maple with no problem, just go slow and you’ll be fine. Resawing stock is also do-able, but I usually make a cut a quarter of the way through the stock, flip it over to make the other cut, then raise the blade to full depth and finish the cut. Makes it easier on the motor that way.
The base is a Porta Mate PM 3500.

Great review. Like your setup, i'll be copying it :).I have been looking at this one and it's big brother (G0833P ONLY because of the fence rail). I'm a little nervous about the G0771Z having an aluminum rail. Have you had any problem with it?
Thanks for the comment. I haven’t had a problem with fence rail. It sits just below the top of the saw anyway, so it’s rare that any workpieces ever come into contact with it and possibly damage it. Just by eyeballing it, it still looks as straight as the day I bought it, and I suspect putting in the router table helps because there is less chance it will get dented inward into the otherwise empty space.

Travis O saws are not the same. 0833 has different drive system completely. Also steel on 0833 is the shop classic with a modified aluminum add on instead of the white composite. 0833 also runs 400 rpm faster
How is the dust collection with this saw. I'm looking at buying one but noticed that the blade is not "encased" with the plastic shroud to catch saw dust and direct it straight to the port at the bottom of the saw like the other grizzly saws do. Is it worth jumping up to a bigger saw for that one piece or is the dust collection on this one good enough?
Its okay, it does best with finer dust, although I think it would probably be better if I plugged up the space between the cabinet and the cast iron top, but its still good. If I am cutting a lot of stuff, I will need to stop occasionally and vacuum off the top. Its kind of a pain in the ass to clean out the inside of the cabinet, since the heavier stuff falls to the bottom and doesn't get sucked into the vacuum, so I have to reach in the port and extract the debris by hand or use a long stick to brush the debris from above.
Matt, any idea if all the Grizzly dust collection systems are about the same? For instance, the G0899 is very similar. Aside from the blade guard dust collection on that saw, would they be about the same based on what you know?
Thanks for the excellent review. You showed the Riving knife and did not comment on it. Have you had difficulty or any issues with it, changing blades etc. . I also am a hobbyist and I am using a 50 year old Craftsman saw that I have to check with every cut which really slows down things. I was considering buying a new fence but for $300 think it would be like putting lipstick on a pig.
Bill williams It can be a pain to take out and put on. But I do it so infrequently that it isn’t really a big deal for me. I’ve not noticed any misalignment between the riving knife and the blade.
After having the saw for some time, how do u like it? Is there any major issues that you have run into? I am thinking about getting this saw or the the new Delta.
Overall I really like it. No major issues to speak of. I make sure to maintain the saw and it’s components regularly (cleaning and protecting the cast, dusting/vacuuming out the inside, lubricating the gears, cleaning the blade). I haven’t had to replace any of the components yet. The locking mechanism for the fence has been giving me some issues lately, but I might just need to fiddle with it.

Matt, I'm considering a Grizzly hybrid like this one. My main concern is how does it power thru hardwood, especially thicker stock? I currently have a Craftsman contractor saw that is claimed to have 1.75hp. I know that if I go over 1-1/2" hardwood stock it starts to bog down. Now that you've lived with this saw for about 2 years now what is your experience with thicker hardwoods? I'm trying to figure out if this would meet my needs or if I should go with their 3hp saw for about $500 more. Are you still running it with 110v?
Jason Kassis it does okay with 3/4” hardwood, which is what i use 90% of the time. For thicker stuff, you just need to go slow. I think I’ve done up to 1.5” on hardwood, but nothing thicker. It’s not gonna cut like butter being only 1.75 HP, but it’s fine for my needs. If you do a lot of thick hardwood, you might want to consider a saw with more HP.

jeff oldham Aside from the 2 months it took the saw to get here, I have no complaints about Grizzly. I have actually contacted Grizzly’s customer service twice, and both times they were super helpful.
One thing I didn’t mention: when I bought the saw, the rule was: if you buy online, you don’t have to pay sales tax, but you do pay for freight shipping. If you buy at one of the Grizzly stores, you will pay sales tax, but obviously not shipping. Something to keep in mind.

It's up to $925 + shipping + taxes in NYS. Comes out to like $1150 now. Really a bummer.
Does that laser gauge only measure to the nearest 1/32"? That's 31 thousandths, pretty wide for blade to slot alignment. I use a dial indicator and shoot for 3 thousandths, sometimes have to settle for 4. It isn't that the cut won't be square. It reduces burning and makes a cleaner cut to have the blade as near parallel as possible.
WDTA UT it was in fact closer to less than 1/64 over the length of the blade when i shot this. I never had issues with burning or imprecision. I’ve since jigged up a dial indicator and that’s what I use now
Hi Matt, did you have issues getting the blade at 90 when the blade is raised at maximum-noticed the motor housing hits the motor cover. It’s awful-had to cut a couple vent grill to allow the motor to reach topmost setting. Would be interested I’d you hit the same issue.
I haven't had that issue. My blade was cranked up to the max in this video and I've done it a few times since with none of the problems you're encountering. I'd contact Grizzly and let them know.

Does running this saw on 220 change the way it cuts thicker material, or is it all a question of horsepower? Does this saw have the option of upgrading to a larger motor or are you stuck with what ever comes with it? If so how big is big enough?
I believe rewiring it to 240 does not affect cut ability one way or the other at all, just affects how much current it draws. I’m not sure the answer to the second part of your question.
My 715p by the dust after 4 years....broken bull gear. After about a year of use, what is your position on this saw verse when you first did the review?
Bryan E Schwab I have no complaints. Just gave it a little TLC (vacuumed/air compressed all the nooks and crannies, re-sealed the cast iron, lubricated the gears) and its still performing well, nothing is broken.

Did you look at the Shop Fox W1837? Just looking for more info since there is hardly any on shop fox from users.
Yes, I went back and forth heavily between the Shop Fox and the Grizzly. I found many more reviews on the Grizzly than the Shop Fox. Plus, Grizzly was running a sale on the saw at the time I bought and it made it only slightly more expensive than the Shop Fox. The combination of those two things is mostly why I went with the Grizzly. I don't think the Shop Fox is a bad choice at all, though.

The only thing I don’t like about this Saw is with the fence height adjuster nuts they scratch and wear out a line in the rail. Wish it was hdpe coated
Summers Woodworking I sprayed and wiped some boesheild on the rails and put a hefty layer of paste wax on top. It helps a bit

Joshua, Do not panic! Go to Harbor Freight for a dial indicator and make yourself a wood device to hold it. There are plenty of videos about doing that on youtube. I actually made one almost like the original Woodpeckers saw alignment gauge which works great and didn't cost $90!
Your fence is easily adjusted. First, read the manual. Remove the fence and you will see little set screws to adjust. On the vertical part of the angle iron which rides against the long bar. You will have to remove the fence and re-install it several times to get it right. Be patient, and just make small adjustments until the fence is parallel with the right miter gauge slot. You can slide a small shop ruler, or block of wood to determine if the edge of the fence and the top of the slot are flush. Or, use the tool at the end of your arm to feel if they are flush.

And it now comes with a garbage aluminum extrusion fence, same as the ShopFox W1837. That is the only thing that I dislike about my new W1837.

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
grizzly description: "trunnions that mount to the cabinet" (ie cabinet saw)-can you confirm if the trunnion is mounted to the table or the cabinet.
This might be late, but yest the trunnions are mounted to the cabinet. Look at the pics of the Shop Fox W1837 as it shows a picture with the top off of the saw. They are basically the same saw. One is an open cabinet with a mobile base and the other is a closed cabinet and includes cast iron wings. The internals are the same. Just like the Jet ProShop and Laguna F2 are the same on the inside. I have the ShopFox W1837 and I am happy with it so far, minus the new fence that the G0771Z and W1837 come with now. The new fence is an aluminum extrusion and it flexes a little bit more than it should IMO.
It's gone up to $925 nowadays.
