    Welcome to some more time at the sawmill. It's been a really rainy and cold spring/early summer, but it's finally getting hot and feeling like summer. I can't wait for this deck project to be complete, and it is really dragging on, but no sense in generating a heavy negative mind about it - I just need to keep plugging away (and I feel like I say that every time. lol). I have been spending a lot time at the sawmill lately, and while it's definitely fun to mill lumber, I'm feeling like I need a bit of a change at the same time. I am going to do my best to squeeze in a little something else that allows me to get my creative juices flowing, ya know!?! I should never promise anything, but it's fun to dream about it, right? 😊
    Anyway, I have a bit more milling to do (the now 8' joists, so two of those will be scarfed together at a beam), but I am not sure I will even film that.
    Hopefully I can muster up something a little different for the next video!
    Thanks for watching and see you in the next one!
    M 💝

    Pretty much all rough-cut lumber needs to be planned and squared up. I find myself having to mill even some S4S lumber every once in a while. Every cut exposes the inside of the wood, releasing moisture. When that happens you get your twists, cups, bends, and warps. If you mill it to 4/4 8/4 10/4 12/4 etc, you will have more than enough to run it through a planer before you use it for building. Been in residential construction for almost 2 decades now as a carpenter and wood worker. I enjoy watching you mill full logs. It is the only step I have not done myself. Maybe one day I can check that off the list! Thanks for sharing.

You should send the footage of you in the Bobcat in the dress and shoes to the Bobcat company - you could set the bar to a new high standard in their sales pictures! Dialogue might be "I don't always drive skid steers dressed this way, but I do in a Bobcat skid steer" 8^) Hope Steve's recovery is going better now. The lumber you milled looks great. Cheers!

    Hi, Michelle.There is a product you can get at home, depot or many places. It's called Fluid Film. You can spray on any metal services to prevent corrosion. Maybe you should use some of that on your mill in places that are rusting. It's safe on wires and rubber products. I use it and I like it. It works great. Preventative maintenance. Love your show. It's good to see you back at the mill.

    Your cable adjusters for unknown reasons are rusting, either from rain, snow or condensation from being tarp covered. Try applying a light coating of grease. Most important is you need to tighten the adjuster jam nut so that there is no chance the adjuster can move and change the head setting.

    • @michygoss7148
      @michygoss7148  Місяць тому +2

    • @timothykrause2327
      @timothykrause2327 Місяць тому +2

      Yes, that and your vertical guide rails being sticky will cause it to get wonky. Clean them up good and polish them up with rainX , that’ll keep them running smoothly

    • @wirefeed3419
      @wirefeed3419 Місяць тому +1

      @@michygoss7148 Took a look at the video again and I am pretty confident the rusting on the adjusters is condensation from being a wet coastal area and being under the cover. At some point you may want to take them apart and clean all the rust. Soaking in Vinegar for a day or two is an excellent natural rust remover. In the mean time cover with grease or next time you are near a Princess Auto, Lordco store pick up a can of “Fluid Film” spray an excellent Corrosion and rust prevention product, easy to use, non toxic and environment safe as well.
      It is incredible all that you do, and thank you for being a nurse, keep up all the great work 👍

    What you are probably getting on the upright posts that's making them sticky is a build up of sap from the wood you're cutting. Get a good solvent and clean them to bare metal and then put a coat of a thin lubricant. You should probably clean at the end of every week to keep the saw running smoothly. Another thing you can do is always set your cut line raising the blade. You drop the blade below the cut and come back up. Then you know you aren't being affected by the carriage sticking.

    What cool Bluetti toys. It’s about time someone revolutionized the electric cooler. That’s crazy how that bike accident happened, I would have thought the cable would have broken first before it would flip your bike. That blade sharpener looked pretty high-tech, I always thought you sharpened a blade with a file or a wet stone. Cool gadgets, you got all the toys. What they are doing with those batteries these days is astounding! You are going to be such an expert at milling lumber you could probably make money off tracing others. A lot of content, stay cool😊.

    I've admired you for a long time, watched you build your cottage, I'd really hate to see ya end up not being able to send & make content, Please do be really careful what you do! Ya definitely don't wanna end up in worse shape than your husband was. ❤

    I have no need or interest in milling a log but I sure do like watching you do it. One beautiful and hard working lady! Fellow cyclist here so I feel for you having a crash. Always good to give the bike a good look over before each ride. I'd gladly tune it up for you if I was near you.

    Your certainly are a problem solver. Also you are very funny sometimes. Tape measures are the most elusive little critters, turn your back and they tend to crawl away and hide.

    Michelle I like the fact that you never give up. Just remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Some days everything works out and you get alot done and others you don't. The fact is you still make progress. I wish I was clyde. Your babies are very lucky you are their mom. Love you.
