Never understood the gold hate in watches community... If it's lowkey gold (not like modern royal oaks), it's still very elegant and far better than some beat up steels watches ...
DenshoGiallo I couldn't agree more, man!!
You are so right. I love dress watches in gold (especially JLC). I especially like rose gold watches.
Well it's a soft metal.
It's just seems too over the top. But I still love it.
Agreed
Words cannot explain how much i appreciate that the seconds hand matched up during the strap change
I remember everyone on Miami vice had a gold daydate and I’ve lusted for one ever since
Hahahaaaaa!!!!!
Exactly the reason I bought mine in 1986!
This is still (imo) one of your best videos. And a yellow gold day-date especially with the wide boy dial....... 😍
Love this new segment. getting to really love your channel man. keep it up
I love this new series. Looking forward to more of these. This watch is stunning too.
I don't want one, I need one
Hugh Curthoys me too hahahaha
The intro just makes me want to go listen to the rest of Jimmy Squares stuff it's so good.
I'm a watch geek too and love the day date you have to buy it,its a sense of achievement .
YES! between this, one hour watch, and some classic watchporn from in the metal, you guys are on absolute fire!! Thanks everyone at T&H for what you do. My next vintage piece will without a doubt be from you guys
MRMichael Lepp I'm so glad you're enjoying the content, man! Seriously. Trying to diversify so your appreciation is great encouragement!!
Very cool. Lug2Lug...awesome. You're doing great work Christian, keep it up.
I've always hated gold watches, but there was a shift in opinion this year. Absolutely in love with the gold day date, might pull the trigger on one soon.
I find it absolutely wonderful. My preference is for vintage Rolex. True style never goes out of fashion.
That spanish day wheel tough... LOVE IT!
Really liking this new series! But I think it's a bit too short and you could show more of why you love the watch. I know you love the Daydate and I feel it's not expressed enough in this video. A really nice concept with a lot of potentials. Good job!
Love it, great new series!
Fantastic segment. Can't wait for future episodes!
Fahim Mostafa I can't wait to record them!!
What a stunning example! Thanks for sharing 👌
Gabriel Mena thank you for watching!!
Well this new series is going to be awesome!
Love the new series, and I FREAKING love that watch!!!!
JPS 3B so glad!!!
It's refreshing to see a dealer review of a watch already sold, it goes to show you guys love watches and not just doing it for the next sale.
You mean like Federico? lol
“but at least I’m self aware” FLOL!!
*I ❤️ gold Rolex too
I also love yellow gold watches.... especially the Rolex DayDate models. Four years ago I also bought me a 1803 with original president bracelet and hidden clasp in nice condition. Mine is made in 1975 and comes with a 1556 movement. I bought it with original box and booklet in a pawn shop for 5400 Euros. That was a bargain in my opinion. Today it is nearly impossible to get these for under 7000 Euros. I also have a 16610 and also a 1601 in my collection but my favorite Rolex watch is still the 1803. It's like a gold bar on your wrist ;)
I really like the premise of this series. Good first episode!
coreyt008 thank you!!!
Thank you for yet another new serie
Cedar Canoe thank YOU for watching!
I’m more of a 18038 guy myself. I purchased mine about 6 months ago and it’s probably one of my best watch purchases to date.
That is a stunning piece.
Christian seem like a fun guy to hang out with. He really does have the passion for watches.
As much as I have been a larger watch guy... I just made a deal on a 1986 18038. I’m excited to get it in a few days.
Cheers
Captain Zed how much
Very beautiful wideboy 1803. I had to buy several daydates so that i could have different straps and bracelet and dials at any one time.
Simply beautiful. Quite simply one of the most coveted watches in the world. The Day Date.
Great series idea
People look at you different when you wear a rolex.
Freedom Capital Partners LLP even more different with a daydate
Love that rolex watch!!! My next watch beautiful and stunning!!!!
Love the dial!
I had to pause it on the tan suede.. wow
Amazing!
Love gold Rolex's.
Hey Christian, great vid! Can you tell me something about these bracelets? I often see them with what looks like a gap between the end links and watch head. Is that just stretch, wrong pairing of bracelet and watch reference, or something else? Thx.
I’m a big fan of yellow gold Rolex myself!!!
Beautiful
great review, gold has health benefits with skin contact as well, something to Google, will make a good selling point for gold watches in the future ✌
Perfect Rolex! What was this one sold for ? And what is the current value of it today?
You had me at "sabado". Now I'm getting one of these!
Laz Andres Mesa Spanish
Beautiful. In all three straps
Amazing.
I love all gold and two tone.
Please do more of these!
Kerry Sasongko absolutely!! Thanks so much for watching!
The bracelet is clapped out on this one
Nice video, good editing. Suggestion: maybe get a little more technical about the movement inside the watch. Great idea for a series though!
Miguel G great idea, man!! And thank so much for watching!!
Beautiful watch, although it would bother me that the end links don't quite reach the case. Maybe I'm just picky though
When I retire at 55 this is the watch I will wear on my last day in the office 👑
Robin Hood Hahahaha that's the dream!!
Robin Hood not 55 try 70 thank your president
Terry Williams Or you can be smart and retire on your own, by saving money throughout your life
@@Mr74261000027 More like investing money than saving :)
Always a nice watch. 36 is ok and I wish it could be stainless steel. 39 could be and with fluted bezel. The main reason you could get such a well kept watch is because most owners don't use them. They laid on a safe case for decades.
Straight up gorgeuous
i f*cking love this video! can someone tell me the name of the instrumental in the background?
you seem like the kind of guy who is really into Broadway musicals.
Hmmm... Am I going to rule the boardroom with this or will my colleagues roast me?
Zeitgeist a little bit of both!!
Model of condition? You can tell the bracelet is falling away from the watch head, theres an issue with the pins connecting the two, its bracelet has bad stretch too
I have an 1803 from 1973 with diamonds in the dial. I wish it was white gold instead of yellow.
I have the exact same model. The most comfortable watch I've worn.
Im gonna have this watch one day.
This series has a lot of potential, but i agree with some of the comments that maybe a longer video with more information may be more entertaining unless you just want to keep it short & sweet. Your love for day dates/ datejusts has spread to me and its becoming one of my new favorite vintage watches.
But, is it just me or does the presidential bracelet seem really stretched, or is it supposed to be like that ?
Ante Nikolic sounds good! Thank you for watching!! And it is, like most, stretched. But relatively speaking, it's in terrific condition!
The suede strap looked stunning.
Teisha Riley right????
where did you get that beautiful strap from? i need one in 18mm. thanks!!
What brand/model is that shirt that you are wearing?
Cool new series, yet you still didn't mention the lug2lug distance😂
Miika Mäentaus hahahahahahhaha too funny
One of these for when i eventually retire, God willing, four years to save for it
would look great on a NATO to with gold hardware
Sweet Baby Jesus
I know it was hard to let that one
go lol😅
Im just not understanding, how was it your grail, but you sold the watch ???
No need for any excuses. They're beautiful, period. I always wondered why they didn't put the day of the week at the bottom.
I like the gold watch too its not awful i have me a golde boluva curv with a champagne face and it looks like a day date kinda
Nice!!!!
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!! Was never into the day date until now. Jesus, you know how to romanticize watches!!!!🙂💥
Also jack nicklaus one of the best golfers of all time has only had one watch since the 60s i think and it has been this one
The president. Nice
Nice!!!!!
Hey Christian (Or Anna, or whomever), quick question: How long are your straps? I'm considering buying something like your "Coal" strap, so I don't have to steal a black strap from one of my other watches
Håkon Andreas Olaussen hey man!! They fit wrists between 6.5 and 8 inches!
Theo and Harris Do you have the specific length? I just want to know how they compare to the ones I already have, seeing as how I don't really like it when the end of the strap pokes out too far
How much did this one go for?
SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact, on the first episode of the sopranos, Tony is wearing a gold Tag Heuer. The second episode he wears the presidential
you're right ! And one one single episode he wears a WG Presidential!Z!@ And if you can tell me which one, you get all the bragging rights in the world.
Darn I didn't catch that, can I settle for partial bragging rights tho haha
I see an ugly ding at the left bottom of the watch body. The strap piece also affected. How unfortunate.
Ese es el mio.
Not my style, but it works for a great many people.
I want this watch cuz tupac got it, but I’m broke so ima just keep fantasizing lol
Sonny Crockett approves.
:)
Think you'll ever get your hands on a sky dweller, Christian? After all, that is the TRUE pinnacle of Rolex from a horological standpoint. 😉 Coincidentally, my grandfather wore a gold day-date (quartz) during the late 80's and 90's after being a successful business man. Whenever I hold it, or any day-date, I don't think about how much it's worth, but the hours, days, and years of work somebody did in order to afford it. That's part of what makes the day-date, and Rolex as a whole, so special! I admire a Vacheron, Patek, AP, GP, etc. for the watchmaker who made it, but I admire I Rolex for the individual who bought it and the work they put in to be able to afford it.
The watch lost a lot of material through polishing as you can see where the endlinks (should) hit the watch head.
Mad Man a great guess! And true in some cases, but not this one. That bracelet was made for an early 1960's Datejust, not a Day Date. And although they're very similar, different endlinks are required to be perfect!
can someone help me... What's the price of a used or even vintage yellow gold datejust? I want one so bad, I just can't seem to find one bellow 5k and as a 18 year old, there's no way to get that kind of money right now.
KoKi original i mean it will be hard to find one below 5k and to be honest if you are willing to go for a rolex you might wanna save up a little more and get THE timepiece that makes you smile everytime you take a glance!
Yellow gold day-date is the true dream watch but I think a datejust is awesome too. I don't think that I will be able to afford a President in the next 10 years, not only do I have to finish school but I'm also from Slovenia and that's a lot more money here than in the U.S.
You are not supposed to have a watch like this when you are 18. you are supposed to have a decent bank balance, then a car, then a mortgage, and THEN you buy an expensive watch. You never want to have more money on your wrist than in your bank account.
Garry Perkins well I won't need a car for the next 4 years and won't need a house/apartment
Garry Perkins Someone should have said this to Archie Luxury!
Is it hard for you to resist that you have your grail on your arm and have to sell it?
Venus Dee oh absolutely! But then I remind myself that my dad didn't have his grail until he was 40 and I have to suck it up! Haha
It's so tiny!!
will this rolex be considered a rolex presidential, if not what is a rolex presidential???
The bracelet is called the presidential bracelet. This watch model is often referred to as the president. The official name is the Day-Date. The only come in 18k gold (yellow, white and everrose).
Tony Soprano wet dream
harry cronos no doubt!
You meant *The WORST* ?
Eh....the condition is alright.
Is it real gold?
18k solid gold
Everybody likes Sabados and veneers, right, Christian?
I would love to have a watch in this condition with an English or German (or even Dutch) day wheel. My dream would be everrose gold with Roman numerals.
You talk like Al Pacino did in the godfather
Iidd
Why do people keep saying it's flashy etc...? Subdued compared to the shit that is popular now.
Please.....
First phuckaz!
