Sweet! "Every Kinda People" was a top twenty hit in the US for Robert Palmer back in 1978. Caribbean steel pan drums with a subtle guitar riff and a really fat bass line, plus a sax and trumpet solo to boot! And Palmer's vocals are the super smooth icing on top! I remember hearing this on the radio when I was a kid. Great song!

Thanks, Harri. One of my top 5 songs of all time. You're spot on. Soulful, organic, perfectly sung, loving message, funky bass, clavinet, strings. All so good. Others on here are correct. You'll be amazed by the Midnight Special live video. The equal in quality to this studio version.
    Many thanks for reacting.

YES!!! Harri, I am so glad that you reacted to this early Robert Palmer song! ❤️ I consider this smooth jazz/yacht rock, and find it far superior to the work he did in the 80’s (I’m sure commenters are going to talk about his song Addicted To Love, but even though I was an 80’s teen, that song has an amateurish feel to me; doesn’t come close to this).

Harri, you can’t split up an epically perfect Robert Palmer segue. Here it is: Sailin’ Shoes-Hey Julia-Sneakin’Sally through The Ally. They are on UA-cam together like that for a reason, and here it is. If you don’t listen to them together like that, the world will shudder, and break free of its axis and life as we know it will cease to exist. And that would be bad.

Love this song,.yes Robert has that soulful crooning voice,..so smooth,..look how well his humming,..crooning along, went in conjunction with the saxophone solo,..instead of sweet and sour,..sweet and sweet,..its almost more jazz than anything,..and yes, he is sorely missed,
very much so,..gone too soon,..that other song your thinking about, I guess you could say its a kind of tribute,..to Marvin Gaye,..and unlike how it went down for Robin Thicke,..with Marvin's family suing him for using his music,..passing it off as his?,.Robert must've had their permission,.I never heard of any conflict when he released,."Mercy Mercy Me/I Want You",..
Robert does it full on the Robert Palmer way,..but so croons on it like Marvin,..smooth and silky,..do check out "Didn't Mean To Turn You On,.. Trick Bag,..Give Me An Inch,..You Are In My System,..,..very, very good music, .Godspeed, Peace ✌
