According to him this was the first song he played with AC/DC when he auditioned for them. I can only imagine how sick that must've felt for the first time.
If only that could've been recorded. Supposedly Malcolm was the only one who knew this song when Brian mentioned it, but the sound of his Gretsch playing those opening chords would be amazing to hear. The band had just lost Bon Scott and probably thought they had a snowball's chance in hell of continuing onto any further success, so no hindsight to record such a legendary audition existed.
It's been rumoured for years that Marc Bolan (T. Rex) did the guitar for Nutbush City Limits. He was living in LA at the time, as were the Ike & Tina. Bolan's girlfriend was one of the backing vocalists for Ike & Tina Turner during the 60s and she confirmed this in a documentary on Marc Bolan that this was in fact the case.
Rock in peace Tina Turner thank you for being a fellow AC/DC fan and giving us Brian Johnson and AC/DC! We are forever grateful for that ! And for your beautiful voice and face! 😊🤘🎸⚡️

I keep expecting Angus to fly across the stage in his school uniform. Would love to see the AC/DC boys do this as a single B side or a live bonus. It is the song that got Brian the gig after all.

that AC/DCish guitar tone really fits this song, and tbh i like this version more than the original song!, i think it's not only the sound, but the simplicity of it, i've heard other live versions of this song and there's a lot of instruments involved, but here you just hear drums, guitar and bass, and it's brilliant.

This kicks so much ass. Cliff is an absolute beauty on this song. Brian is unbelievable. I love the guitar and drums too! I've often said if you want to make a song better, just give Brian Johnson the mic!
Best hard blues rock and roll singer on the planet!!
Ummmm no. Love me some Brian but he's 100% not even in Bons wheelhouse
hope AC/DC plays this in gelsenkirchen in may!

Yeah he did the vaccum cleaner commercial then grabbed the job with AC/DC. Love that story.
