    I saw them my first time in Raleigh in 1958 as a college freshman. They have been my favorite all these years. Can't believe it goes on with this group every bit as good. Thanks for posting this one.

    Finally, The Four Freshmen of 2007, as Bob Flanigan said, "the best Four Freshmen group ever." Who could ever disagree with Bob Flanigan.
    Do your friends a favor and share this video with them and ask them to forward the link to everyone in their address book. These four young men deserve to be recognized world wide. Compare this talent with what is available on TV. This is talent personified.

    This " 4 Freshmen" is THE only group in music today who can proudly carry on a great name, when none of the " original" members are still with us. Bob Flanigan owned the name, & he found & rehearsed these young men to help perfect their sound. Yes, THE best 4 Freshmen of all-time !! Wolfsky9

    Hands-down THE very best 4 Freshmen, ever. I so agree with The Late Mr Flanagan, & he should know, as he owned the name, & personally oversaw all aspects of these amazing vocals! I so hope they stay together another 30 years! We need them so badly! Wolfsky9, 66 y/o

    What a terrific vocal group! A great jazz group too. Isn't that a fantastic trumpet solo! I could listen to music like this for hours... and sometimes I do.

    Wow! I've followed the Four Freshmen since the fifties when I was in the Air Force at WPAFB in Dayton, OH. I saw them once, and was hooked, and still am. Terrific music by terrific musicians.

    The guys sound a whole lot like the original article....great music and great 1950's memories. Yeah, Bob Flanagan was a terrific trombone and sang great F.F. harmony with the old guys....Ross &Don Barbour and Ken Errair.

    I just heard the 4 Freshmen in person in Newberry tonight. As good as the recordings and DVD and UTube are, in person is full-step above. The artistry of these 4 in person is indescribable. I'm a trumpet player, so I particularly noticed Curtis' power in concert on the wide open pieces. Best trumpet going as far as I'm concerned. Met Chaz at the concert, too. :)

    I know most people won't share this opinion, but I think these guys are better than the originals. I've never heard a "replacement" group sound so much like the original, and then actually improve on it. They're playing their own music, which the original Freshmen didn't do. The originals played a couple instruments but these guys are playing four instruments and singing the tightest harmony that you can find in modern music. They are absolutely amazing.

      I also share your opinion. What happens is that the original FF it was already very goods as number one in vocal groups, and we admire yet to much, the memory of his four members at the beginning. But yes, indeed, this group number 20 has reach the maxim level of perfection. I invite everybody to hear "Moonlight in Vermont" recorded in music studio, where they are hearing his own breathings...

    • @a.sebastian2861
      @a.sebastian2861 7 років тому

      I must correct myself about this group of FF that they aren't the same of the another group that sang "Moonlight in Vermont" whose component were another like: Bob Ferreira on drums, Brian Eichemberger on guitar, Kelvin Stout on trombon and the great, great musicien unforgettable Greg Stegeman not only a big trumpet more smooth and subtle than Curtis, but also arranger and Harmonic teacher that provide to that group, the best and more modern structure of his voices. Greeting and All the Best for Everybody.

    I don't only want acclaim the FF quartet, but too contribute with some judge as professional musicien. The FF has a lot of virtues as vocalists, instrumentalists, rhythms, swingers... but over all HARMONICS one. Its chords have the technique of modern harmonic extension, like they was doing, the great european sinphonists Stravinski, Milhaud, Messiaen...with providing the nineth, eleveenth, thirteenth chords. The worth of FF is to know choose four voices between each chord that like the thirteenth, has seven diferents notes, getting right eliminate tree of its less expresive, for its vocal style, obtaining that sound so original in a vocal group. I only sorry they never has come to the Teatro Real de Madrid, where the best singer snd musiciens of the world has performer and also at the Universidad Complutense (Colegio Mayor San Pablo) regarding jazz music. You would been very well received, provided that you don't were to much spendsive.We are in a whole economic crisis, afterward several years of bads gobernments political and cuturaly. With my best wises, Sabas de Hoces.

  • @a.sebastian2861
    @a.sebastian2861 9 років тому

    No solo hare un alabanza al cuarteto FF, sino que deseo aportar un juicio tecnico como musico profesional: Los FF tienen muchas virtudes vocales, instrumentales, ritmicas, melodicas pero sobre todo ARMONICAS. Sus acordes tienen la tecnica de las extensiones armonicas modernas como hicieron los grandes sinfonistas europeos Stravinski, Milhaut, con la aportacion de acorded de novena, oncena y trecena. El merito de los FF es elegir cuatro voces de cada acorde que como las trecenas tienen siete notas. acertando a eliminar tres de ellas por ser la menos expresivas para su estilo vocal, consiguiendo ese sonido tan original en un grupo vocal. Solo lamento que sus tour-operators no haya gestionado nunca, venir al Teatro Real de Madrid, donde han pasado todos los mejores cantantes y musicos del mundo o a la Universidad Complutense (Colegio Mayor San Pablo) los correspondientes al jazz. Serian muy bien recibidos, siempre que no resultaran muy costosos... Estamos en plena crisis economica, aunque empezamos a recupersrnos tras unos años de desgobierno politico y cultural. Mis cordiales saludos. Sabas de Hoces.
