The Four Freshmen were my Dad's favorite. I heard them endlessly growing up. Dad's been gone a few years now. Seeing this clip makes me happy and sad at the same time
I was a member of the Barbershop Quartet society for about 15 years. As a lover of close four-part harmony, I was in heaven. I cannot imagine playing an instrument at the same time as singing harmony like that. These men were true musicians.
This is Group #4 consisting of (L-R) Ross Barbour, Ken Albers, Bill Comstock, ands Bob Flanigan. The current group, October 2021, is Group 27. They’ve been performing continuously since 1948.
Freshmen live performances are enjoyable. Their sound was just as powerful on stage, as well as in studio. Not many groups achieve that. The other thing I've enjoyed is their banter. Whether scripted or spontaneous, it was free flowing, especially Bob. He seemed to have a certain spark and zip to him, especially with Ross, that showed a genuine joi de vivre that was all part of the vibe that was the Freshmen. Thanks for putting this up.
Thanks to them we got the magical Brian Wilson sound for the beach boys

I used to catch the Freshmen at the Hong Kong bar in Beverly Hills. Always so great.
My god, it's beautiful! My favorites since 1958.
It's incredible the BIG sound they get!! A truly great American group.
I've followed this group when I was a teen in the 50's. They are the vocal-instrumental groups of all vocal-instrumental groups !
Close your eyes and they sound like The Beach Boys. You can almost hear Surfer Girl.
@@mariogiresi6792 The Beach Boys were inspired by the Four Freshmen actually
@@mariogiresi6792 nonsense.....
Perfecct sound and camera work..........one of the best old tapes !!
They sang as one. So attuned (and in tune) to one another. A spiritual experience to listen to them.
I discovered about The Four Freshmen a week ago, but didn't took a long time to love their songs, talents, and voices. They were so awesome 😭😭😭
I just discovered'em recently too. I love going back in time. A lot of buried treasure here on UA-cam.

Love this! It is my first time to hear and see The Four Freshmen. Dusty would have done a good duet with the cute solo. They are so talented!
