The red dots on the 1st Tench is marks that they get from being damaged whilst breeding during the spawning season. They are a minor thing that clears up pretty quickly. Great video, thanks.
Do you have a source for that? I have never seen this before in over 30 years of fishing, I plugged the symptoms into ChatGPT and it had this to say: "Tench with red spots could be an indication of a bacterial infection called "red pest". This disease is caused by the Aeromonas salmonicida bacteria and is commonly seen in fish populations in freshwater canals. The red spots are actually areas of internal bleeding and are a result of damage to the fish's blood vessels caused by the bacteria. The infection can be fatal if left untreated, so it is important to monitor fish populations and take appropriate action if red pest is suspected." ChatGPT being ChatGPT, I asked if there was any other cause: "While red spots on tench can be a sign of the parasite Trichodina, there can be other causes as well. Some of the other possible causes of red spots on tench in freshwater canals include bacterial infections, viral infections, fungal infections, or even physical injuries." You say this is due to damage, how does that manifest? I would expect a couple of bigger areas of damage rather than hundreds of tiny spots? No? Cheers.
@@DrWhosmate I caught one a few weeks ago that has alot more red on it, have the picture if you wanna see, I didnt wanna touch it incase it was infected
Chop a tree down and make a swim 😂 there's always fish to be found though. Fish on a wide bend somewhere on your canal, using bread on the bottom. Try different spots until you find a few good ones 👍 GL
honestly mate thats what its like near me, but most of the fish I catch are in the middle of no where, maybe by the odd tree. Nothing like these YT videos portray. I think I've caught one fish by a lock/bridge in the last 7 months.
Theres only 2 canals in Ireland. And both very over fished. Lots of fish like small rudd/roach /perch. Watching ginger years an always amazed the quality of the canals. From my experience here the big rivers/lakes hold the larger fish.
The canal near me is pretty much dead, aside from pike and roach. It used to be full of perch and carp with a few tench and bream. Years ago I even caught a couple of either sea trout or salmon parr in it.
G'day Chris, two beautys never caught a Tench . The Bream was a beauty as well👍🏼. Love the drone shots , oh and a nice bum crack🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. All the best form down under mate. 👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This is cool. I went to Wikipedia to find out about tench because i had never heard of them. They have a huge range. All the way to Lake Baikal. That's a long way from Tennessee. Thanks! Beautiful fish!
Nice gear u have now Chris good canals makes good fishing seems there’s plenty good swims we’re you are be good plenty catching n be safe Chris as always tight lines to all 👍👌
It's that time of year again Chris!☺ Great to see you targeting the Tench. I'm suprised you didn't drop some mashed bread into the first swim to see how the Tench reacted. You could have had it as your Plan B and gone back there for the last hour. Hopefully I will be in amongst the Tench on Sunday, fishing on a new lake that I've never fished before but have heard some stories of the resident Tincas.☺
Great session chris. I am camping this week had my first tech session yesterday on the camp pond biggest about 3 half pound .another twelve or so of small tench around a pound . but great to be doing a little with the rod. Cheers chris..
Great video again Chris and some nice fish. The canal unfortunately not loaded with fish around here, but I will give it a go soon. Always good to pick up some tip of yours... Cheers
Absolutely love your channel I love fishing although I’m no brilliant fisherman, I’m probably twice your age but you know what you’re doing obviously, keep it up sunshine and get the youngsters interested 👍👍👍
Hi to all watchers, in my 20ties I used to go fishing on such rivers ! the bonus of fishing on such places you can expect several kind of fiches. I even catched koi and manny from the carp famelie.... You almost always getting a suprise fish;
Not exactly over endowed with canals here in Sussex but I had 10/12 Tench plus a few Crucians and Rudd on a club water last week. Always amazes me that I'm usually the only one there until about 10 o'clock!!!! They've missed the best part of the day.
Fantastic tench - beautiful fish. One question; why hair rig the corn? I see the need for a hard bait like a pellet but trying to understand with this. Thanks and keep ‘em coming!
@@CB-xr1eg fair enough - I don’t do them that often to be quick or good. Haven’t really had an issue with corn and a 14 but who knows, could do better - will give it a go!
Nice fish there mate ,I fish the canals and have all my life and prefer the challenge than sitting on a commercial where there guaranteed, I have a stretch outside my house ,I literally had 12 tench on the bounce from 2lb to 6lb , 2lb rudd 2lb perch etc look it up Pelsall canal they fight like hell, message me if you want the location would be good to see you film there 🤟
Sitting in Australia, I have never seen a fish look like that what you call a bream. Knowing nothing about them , it looked as though it just arrived from Proxima Centauri B.
Nailed it at 2:15 , nice session too, buddy!

I’m so jealous of your canals! 99% of every stretch where I am is just concrete/timber siding with barely any features :(
Mine are just highways for barges. Can’t go for 10 minutes without one sailing through

I live in Scotland so dont see that type of fishing, great video, im loving your editing, it just gets better every time
Try the Forth and Clyde canal .There is a coarse fishing venue in Cumbernauld and another in Livingstone.🐟😎

I love these fish, i used to travel a long way to catch tench on a canal and was rewarded with 2 just over 8lb and 1 that got away!
Definitely best fisher man on UA-cam
You have great places for fishing. I wish we had such places in Latvia.
Tench are beautiful fish and very tasty.
It’s easy to forget that there are some lovely fish in the canals 👍👍

Congrats for these nice fishes. For me is float fishing the best to get tench.
Canal fishing for tench. Nothing better. Hope you do some more like this.
Take a trip down to Devon, The Grand Western canal. Loads of proper nice tench being caught at the minute :)
Awesome - Watching from Australia. Miss my Tench fishing. My fave..
tench - one of my favorites
I love the weights from Boyes too 😂 best ledger weights I’ve found so far
Great stuff, i caught my pb 7lb 4oz tench the other day
I was fishing in the margins of the canal yesterday missed a big one just seen I mist of green sure it was a tench gutted
Without a doubt the best Uk angler 👏🏼
some cracking Tench for the start of the year! can't say im not jealous
I love so much this UA-cam channel, is like ginger Seth Rogen with English accent doing fishing videos.

Never thought I'd hear 'bream' and 'beautiful' in the same sentence 😂

Great Vid Tench are great fish to catch.
Love your vids Chris! Keep bringing them out 💚
bumpy bream looks amazing
Some canal you have there it’s the grand union by me and although holding fish it’s constantly clouded up by barges
From south Africa love you're vids, first one I saw was with you and alex
You definitely had "great crack" at 2:16! 😂🇮🇪
Thought for a minute there you were going to be poaching from Tom's (Snagged Bro) back garden 🎣
Love a day’s fishing on the canal!
I love canal fishing, im lucky as i live 10 minutes walk from the grand union on the outskirts of london

10 o clock? It must be dark by then. Does your club water allow night fishing?
@@CB-xr1eg 🤣🤣🤣I'm sure you know I meant 10 o'clock in the morning and yes night fishing is allowed on that water.
@@rowlandbrant674 Well no I didn't, how could I know? 🤔 I've fished on a canal till 10pm and had some good tench.
Great vid again I always loved tench fishing
Nice film again, keep it up!
Brilliant my favourite fishing
I used to put out grated luncheon meat when i fished for tench.
i want that folding chair!a
You dont see too many people feeding and fishing canals that way. Good old tinca tinca.
Love the blurr at 7:25 ;)
Lovely tench mate 👏
Tench are such hard fighters, they love going into lily pads! 😅
A great session and well angled as always
Excellent as usual Chris 🙏🏻👍🏻
Blurring bum crack out 😂😂 quality fish though mate 👍
Love this channel!
The one fish me and my mates hate catching is the canal bream, we call them slimers and they slime your net and line and make them stink.
Builders bum and all, nice fish there bud enjoyed the video
where is the canal you fish ??? iv not known a canal clear at any point due to boat travel round my way lol ... love your vids mate keep it up
Grest shot of the underwater release
Another great video Chris...not sure I've seen you sat in a chair before 😂
You deserve more subs ur vids are really good and so entertaining to watch

Hi mate any chance you could you do a review of your backpack and chair system cheers
Haha you whizzed past me and my mate on push bike, we were targeting tench also!
Beautiful fish sir.😮😊
I really love your videos 👌🐟
Great video 👍🏻
You little tinca !
Fantastic tench - beautiful fish. One question; why hair rig the corn? I see the need for a hard bait like a pellet but trying to understand with this. Thanks and keep ‘em coming!
He's using a size 14 hook so maybe thinks the fish could be hook shy. Probably better presented on a hair rig anyway.
@@CB-xr1eg fair enough - I don’t do them that often to be quick or good. Haven’t really had an issue with corn and a 14 but who knows, could do better - will give it a go!
does closed season not exist anymore?
As Danny from "Rate My Takeaway" sais, get knacker cracker away, then you wont have to blur it out 🤣

Step 1: chuck in some ground bait
Step 2: pull your trousers up😂
Sitting in Australia, I have never seen a fish look like that what you call a bream. Knowing nothing about them , it looked as though it just arrived from Proxima Centauri B.
Daft question but how do you plumb the depth to know your fishing on top of the weed?
Second fish very striking....so is third...
Is there no close season restrictions on this stretch?
That’s what I thought it was close season, but just checked and canals are open all year round. Only been fishing for 38 years.😅
The water is „GINclear“ ?
Nice
nice video once again :)
All you can catch in my local canal is supermarket trolleys and sewage
Best Regards from F'n'F Family Lincoln U.K
I love fishing near wankit weed aswel mate.. 1:49 .. haha!
How do u keep ur float in 1 spot everytime I cast it ends up coming back to me even with a little weight on the bottom
What is the red marking on it? I caught one the other day about the same size with alot more red over it, I have the pictures if you wanna see.
Lovely video and fishing. What's the real your using please
