The best fishing advice I ever got was 'Elephants will eat peanuts'. Big fish got that size by eating anything and everything in thier path, so never be afraid to go small.
One of the absoutely biggest brown trout I ever caught was biting on a hook size 13 with a natural baby sized insect larvae. We used to catch greylings this way. The biggest perch I caught was eating a tiny worm on a size 14 hook! I have heard that in Sweden experienced fishermen sometimes fly fish for big river trout with artificial ants! A friend caught a nearly three feet long pike with an extremely tiny worm on a size 12 hook. It had a sparrow in the stomach!
Absolutely awesome! Your fishing videos have taught me a lot about different approaches to catching different species of fish in ways you wouldn't think.. I've been fishing for 45 years and I'm 49 now and as mad for it now as when I was a kid.. I love lure fishing now I'm older and love the fact your actually hunting your quarry.. my kind of fishing.. I've had good success with perch over 5lb and pike to 22lb on a wire trace and a single hook . Nothing else.. my next mission is a tench on a lure.. your number 1 fisherman on you tube.. much respect from me..❤
Hi Chris. I really enjoy your videos. They are calm and peaceful, just like the fishing trips I enjoy. Lovely to see those tench. My local river is called the Yarra and it has mainly European carp which are considered a pest in Australia. However carp always put up a good fight, so they are fun to catch. Keep up the good work. Kind regards MP
Chris i love your vids you have taught me so much this years been my best year lure fishing and now heading ultra light while i teach my son how to lure fish so thank you good sir
Nothing more beautiful than a good tinca! and to nobble 3 all on lures? You couldn't write it mate. Stonking fish and truly top bombin. It's always a good day when you put a new vid out! Pete 🏴
I'm also use those tiny lures. I called it Extra Ultralight fishing or (XUL). I'm using 2lb nano braid and 2lb leader in most of the time. My friend make those tiny jighead 0.2-0.8g and also the silicones around 1.5cm long. Me and my friend, caught a lot of interesting fish with it . Enjoyed from your video 🤝
I think the main reason for the tench to be very hungry is the fact that they will spawn very soon. Beautiful fish indeed! Thanks for sharing this nice fishing session with us!
I am watching this on the 15th June 2024. River fishing open day, so more to come from Chris. Three Chunks In 20 minutes. You can sit on a pool full, and never get more than one an hour, If you are lucky. Well done, Keep 'Em Coming.
Great session Chris. My kind of fishing, ultralight with soft plastics. Amazing to see Tench coming to a lure. I'm going to give the Polaris a shot down here in Western Australia in our Swan River if I can get hold of some. Thanks for sharing.
You gotta love Tench. To me, it's the first day of the season, the 16th, on the river. I still get the buzz and excitement now, just like when i was a kid . I Fish mid severn, not a lot of tench where i fish, but a few spots hold them in the margins. I'm typing this in the dark, waiting for dawn . No night fishing allowed here, but i won't be sleeping, that's for sure. Thanks for the vid, love it.
Hey ginger fisherman I know a secret pool in Telford and there is some big fish but we don't know what they are apart from a giant bream but there is apparently massive like and perch would love for u to go make a video at it
Nice fish! We fishers tend to forget that all the fish, even "predators", eat some small worms and such when they have the opportunity. I like how natural your canals are, there.
Unbelievable Chris. That was class! Another UA-cam first I'd say. And, caught on what is probably your idea too with the tungsten putty over and course hook. I remember the first video you done of that, and it blew my mind. I've been using it since. Have caught roach as small as my baby finger and 12lb pike all on the same lure and hook. Great video, and great tips for us yet to catch a tench on a lure 😅
We started using this lures in competitions for perch and what not a long while ago. Best way to fish small worms and creatures is on cheburashka rig. Start with 1gr up to 3gr tungsten beads. As for the hooks, japanese finesse hooks do work the best. This exact lure(polaris) gave me my personal record for perch at 36cm on a city river!
Hi I just watched a video of yours and you featured buying sardines in bulk, so followed suit and ordered 5kg arrived today and look really good quality also saved me a fair amount of money over this winter. Alan.
Another great session mate , love me some SUL/UL fishing its my favourite thing to do this time of year, Always look forward to your vids doing it, keep it up pal 👍😄
We're doing this in Russia and other post soviet (CIS) countries with the lightest/thinnest fishing equipment possible. Called "мормышинг", used to be a on ice fishing method, but since progress stepped forward with the most delicate lines and rods, someone in CIS first tried it many years ago to catch small perches the most effective way possible during sport events to get tons of points (per fish caught). Later people realised that even the tiniest non-predatory fish can also be cought on the smallest hooks and artificial lures (silicone). Мормышинг is gaining a lot of popularity in our region, epsecially among big cities' public, because with this method you can always catch something in every puddle hehe, unlike throwing regular jig hundred of times without catchning anything most of the time. With мормышинг I've caught 12 species of fish in the closest small river, it's amazing. On still water, we're using mostly 0.2-0.3gr sinkers, rarely can go up to 1gr or so depenging on the conditions and target fish. Lines are either braids PE#0.08-0.2 or regular monofilament 0.05-0.1mm. The size of the fish Ginger Fisherman catshes with this method is astonishing, great job.
i've become addicted to your channel... thanks for that... you have great personality and brilliant ideas for fishing.... though a few of them fish caught would have been taken home instead of release... :-P anyway subbed, - seen your videos, you are a great guy!
If I hadnt seen that with my own eyes Id say it was probably bullshit!! Absolutely amazing to watch, what a very good fisherman you are Chris!! Tench on a lure...unbelievable!!!
I watch fisherman from all over the globe. No one comes close to the lad above. What he does is damn near magical. 🔥
I agree ! He should have a mainstream channel on a Sunday 😎🤙
Legend has it Chris' kids are STILL waiting to be picked up from school XD
hahahaha
He's forgotten how many kids he's got 😆
Does he have time to make kids?
The best fishing advice I ever got was 'Elephants will eat peanuts'. Big fish got that size by eating anything and everything in thier path, so never be afraid to go small.
That is the perfect analogy and couldn't be more correct just the other day I had a double figure pike on a 40mm FFS craw21

it's a normal thing, I've been fishing for tench, bream, rudd, and fishing with micro baits for years

Even bream are good fun on such lightweight tackle, love this!
And those tench were fantastic :)
Great video as always. I love the fact that every time you catch a fish, you seem as excited as if it was your first ever catch.

Crazy fish are very catchy lures
They're pretty much the only lures I use now.
Great catch, I never would have thought a Tench would go for an artificial lure. You learn something new every day!! 😃👍🏻
If it wasn't on camera you would believe it. Great session 👏
Happy for you, sense the buzz, nothing like it. Well done
Well done, Chris. To catch on plastics. Great.
I really like your videos when you fish with ultra light
That braid is crazy at 0.03mm! And what some amazing fish, those tench were decent.
Alot of things in fishing are often overlooked. For instance i have caught multiple big perch and pike on tinny buzzers when fly fishing
That enthusiasm is enough to give you goosebumps. You really need a dedicated TV deal for this Chris. Bang on mate🐟🪱🎣👍

That’s literally the best canal in the uk by far. Come fish Leeds Liverpool canal at top of my garden haha
Amazing fishing as always your vids are class
Amazing catch.
I’m out here happy with one tench from a canal trip and ginger out here catching them on lures 😂😂😂😂 the definition of levels to this game 😅
Skill plays about 10% of it. Location is the prime factor
This fishing method was created in Japan for catching horse mackerel. Here I often use a 0.1g to 1g jig head and 1 pound fishing line.
Nice Tench with that microlure , greetings from Assen in the Netherlands .
