Great video! If I may add two suggestions: it is advisable to replace the drain plug washer, it is either aluminium or copper. Of course you never can find those washers in your toolbox when you really need them, I got around it by turning the washer around. The old oil filter comes off easier when the engine is still warm, which is a good idea anyway, to increase oil flow when getting the old oil out. Never over tighten the oil filter, I don't know if there is a Nm specification in the manual, but I have always stuck with "hand tight, plus a quarter turn" for every oil filter, and it has always worked. The rubber seal will swell as soon as the oil gets warm, and the filter threads will etch themselves stuck as they go through many heat cycles.
The 2 screws in the bottom of the filter was a great fix. It will be interesting to see if the HD rides like a street bike or if they nailed the performance of an actual adventure bike.
Best DIY video I have seen in a long time! :) Thank you. I have a 2012 Stelvio. Most enjoyable bike I have owned, however quirky is definitely an appropriate description.
Stelvio still at the dealer's shop. Guzzi made a mistake 4 times on the part that needs to be changed (right exhaust rocker arm)... It takes so long, I feel like I live in Canada... Went to test ride the 700 TENERE this week. I get why you like it. The engine is reminding me of the Stelvio with his gentle vibrations only a V-twin once could provide. Kudos to Yamaha for that. And I took it for 5 miles offroad, you will love it! So light and agile. It might be a contender to be my next bike along with the V85TT or maybe a Triumph Tiger 900... First, gotta get my Stelvio NTX back.. Maybe in 2 weeks... See ya!
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I've noticed that the Guzzi's like to spend time at the shop. Yamaha is the most reliable brand and that's looking good to me right now. I think I'll like it as well. Cheers.
just can't understand why i've only just discovered your channel, your viewers sure are doin a sh** job of spreading the good word!! This is wot I call damm good vlogging.., informative, humourous, zynical and entertaining. Well done, watched 1 Video yesterday and knew I was in the right place... result, you got 1 instantaneous new Sub. Love your wit, and look forward to a lot of binge 'YT-looking' this coming weekend. Thx for the time and hard work, you put into this, keep it up and you'll be a YT millionar in no time... wot, did I say sommit wrong😉?
I really, really hate to be the bringer of possible bad news, but as a current 8v Guzzi owner myself I have been thru this already and URGENTLY advise you to make sure whether you currently have 'flat tappets' or 'roller tappets' in your engine. The latter means no worries, keep on smilling :) The former means you're in danger because your engine could seize while you're riding, and you know what that means. Even if your engine doesn't seize, with flat tappets it will be slowly destroying itself and soon you will need a new engine, the damage will be irreparable. The American forum below is for the Griso, but the engine is identical to the Stelvio, the post below shows how to find out which tappets you have, flat or roller. This problem isn't unique to Guzzi, early KTM motors had the same problem. Basically the flat tappets have a DLC (diamond like coating) that gets slowly hammered off by the cams starting from day one. This fine diamond like grit then goes thru the engine and wears EVERYTHING out rapidly, including the big ends, the resulting loss of oil pressure means the entire engine is then wrecked. Guzzi didnt really want to know about the problem, nor does Piaggio who now own guzzi, but in some cases, providing there is a good maintenance history, guzzi paid for the replacement parts and the owner had to pay for labour. The forum below has a massive amount of information, all you need to know. www.grisoghetto.com/t5177-how-do-you-tell-if-your-motor-has-roller-tappets?highlight=flat+tappets
Thanks for the tip. I actually remember now that I have the roller tappets. Had to take the head off once because the cam chain tensioner was out of whack.
No, no. I didn't film picking up the bike while the oil was draining so I had to use some of the footage of me sitting on it after the oil was full. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but not that bad. Cheers.
I would keep the old filter and throw it at the mechanic who did the last change ..a bit harsh maybe , just tired of poor service..oh and BTW ..IMHO..that Harley ADV is probably the ugliest bike I’ve ever seen..and it won’t sell..cause it going to be 25k...and then you have to buy the bags..another 5k
My next video is on the Pan America and all the hate that bike has received on my channel. No other bike is as universally hated. It's actually pretty funny.
I've owned a Norge for 11 years and can confirm that this is a true representation of the authentic Guzzi experience.
Proud new-to-me owner of a '12 Norge 8v (searching the interweb for all 8v maintenance). Hello from NB. Thanks for the vid. Ciao baby!

Love the funny narrative of this operation!!!! Great job
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers :)
Me too...it's great isn't it :D

Yes, I'm kind of obsessed with the Pan America.
Two screws in an oil filter is definitely a thing in the Moto Guzzi crowd. Wingnuttery is honored here.
Most amusing oil change vid I have seen.

Who knew that oil changes could be so funny. :)
That RC car tho 😂
I connected a piece of hose to my funnel............but hey that's just me.
Safe rides 👍🏍
Good idea as well. Thanks!
Pro tip!
Quite amusing! I’m glad you were joking about not wearing a helmet! 😱
Thanks! I don’t even ride a bicycle without a helmet :)
There is nothing funny about government stealing our freedom. Even our freedom to die.
haha I just love your videos. you have a great sense of humor :)
Thanks! Much appreciated!

We were thinking that....it's amazing how much stuff there is on youtube that we don't know about. :D
Thanks, that's a really nice comment! This is a fairly new channel and is growing fast but I'm here for the long term so stay tuned. Ride safe!

Aside from a Moto Guzzi dealership, any websites/companies you can recommend for parts?
Don’t you want to warm uo the engine before draining the oil?
Great fun video.
Thanks. :)
When you says "seventeen millimeter" you actually sound like Schwarzenneger ordering his "9mm" gun from the store in Terminator :D
roflmao
Did you start actually the bike while oil was draining?? I can see the windshield vibrating!
No, no. I didn't film picking up the bike while the oil was draining so I had to use some of the footage of me sitting on it after the oil was full. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but not that bad. Cheers.
I have to ask, what year is your Stelvio, does your engine have the roller tappet conversion ?
It's a 2014 to a) and an I don't know to b).
@@DifferentSpokesTV All Stelvios built 2012 onwards were rollerized by the factory. So no conversion necessary you lucky bastard!
Great entertaining video
Dobre! Pozdrawiam.
Dziękuję Bardzo :)
great job man
Thanks a lot.
thanks and smile to the KORONAHOAX
funny...subbed. Now to check some more of your vids lol
Awesome thank you! Much appreciated.
Didn’t you sell this bike..?
Trading it in for a Tenere 700 in July, or whenever the Tenere arrives.

I think this is where Harley got the idea for the head light .. www.rideapart.com/articles/254538/history-munch-motorcycles/
hah hah throw it at the last mechanic...he needs to film that :D
Lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Harleys a big joke👎.
you might try either the Lisle 17232 Right Angle Funnel, or the Red Line 99239 Funnel
